I loved this..speaks to me on so many levels . I love when he picks the dog up after the dog wakes up..His facial expression says it all..Sometimes we don't see ourselves until we look in the face of another. I also liked @ClaireBoyles question above about who you identify with more? The answer given was spot on! I would add that in any practice there has to be time for play to keep us 'light'
So very beautiful! Thanks so much to all who created this. So moving and so true. Your video clearly chronicles the days when I push everything away, and reminds me how deadening that is to my experience of life. Then, like the monk, somehow, on some gracefilled days, I happen to be awakened by some little zen master dog, or cat, or ladybug, or rainstorm.... and I suddenly see the miracle in every sound, every movement, every shining leaf and even in the poison ivy and mosquitos. Namaste!
What a fantasic journey you took us on. :-) The dog's unconditionally loving reflection of the monk's inner self...leading the forgotten back to the oneness within.
Beautiful piece of work. I'm going to share this on all my networks. When the little dog jumps up at the end to catch the ball, your heart fills with happiness. Very inspiring. I hope you continue to create similar things :)
I have this experience inner and outer. I am the monk and the dog (usually the monk) and love how this reminds me of my own gurus, Trixie and Cheetah. The dogs that protected and loved me as baby n boy. They taught me this so I could forget it, and remember it - and them - whenever needed.
The stillness in the final moment of the dog catching the ball is perfect. I can sit with that image and tears rise up with joy in my heart!
I love this so. Thomas Long you're a genius. Watched, shared and re-watched many times and always a delight. As part of my Tai Chi practise, it reminds me not to get so caught up in *seeking* that I miss life's moments of pure joy, which are all around :))
The dog's behaviour is very charming and realistic. I like the part also where the focus changes from background to foreground when the monk finds the ball,, very effective :)
This video is the business. Love it when the dog wakes up. Love it when he realises his practice is adaptable and is not the be all and end all. Maybe I practice too much sometimes to.
@taisen12 yep we can all become a bit self absorbed somtimes, and it usually takes a bit of a kick to bring us back to our senses. thanks. im glad you found the core value in the film, about learning to adapt and progress.
What a beautiful work! For me its about looking for the positive in everything that happens to us on our life path. Rather than fighting something we can try to integrate the new and by being open to it, we can turn an initial nuisance into something that can enrich our life. If we look at the possibilities rather than the limitations that a situation or someone presents to us, we can always benefit and grow on our path. And find friends. :) Thanks for this wonderful food for thought! :)
I wrote a blog post about this and someone left a comment for me- "Who do you identify with most, the Monk, or the puppy?" Brilliant question, what's your answer?
@ClaireBoyles Hi Claire, thats a great question and i suppose it really depends on the individual as to who you most identify with. originally the monk was the main focus but you could almost say the plite of the puppy is more identifyable. i would say more people could empathise with being rejected when all they want was a friend. but saying that many people would have also been the one rejecting and eventually learning that they had lost someone special. Thanks again for your interest.
I came across this yesterday and loved it, I've tweeted it & shared it on facebook because I can't believe it hasn't yet had 100,000's views, I want to do what I can to change that, I see you've had 100 views since yesterday, so I'm delighted! I will continue to share it thanks :)
@thomaslong78 yup! That's awesome 1,500 at the moment, it was just over 700 when I first saw it, in a year. I'm excited it starting to be shared like I wanted. I'm going to write a blog post about it too :)

Very Taoist! The tai chi player must always be ready to change direction and adapt to circumstances, and have a sense of humour!

I enjoyed this. However I wouldn't say it is about the true meaning of companionship but rather the consequences of selfish actions on others lives.
