As much as a band writes for it's fans, they have to do what they feel they want to do as well. They were 16 when they made their first album, do you think you'll still be listening to the same music in four, five or six years? The sound of a song can depend on so much, the writers feelings, what they're going through and even the temperature of the room or the weather can determine the outcome. Get over the change, they did what made them happy.
I wish they would've just made this album as heavy as Hollow Crown, but I guess this album can only be expressed in the best way by taking the heaviness down a little. Still I love the band.
This album's brilliant if you don't think of it as an Architects album, I know it's completely different to Hollow Crown and Ruin etc., but it's a great post-hardcore (I guess) album, that just doesn't sound like the band that made it.

I've just began listening to Architects a while ago. In all honesty, they're really good! No band can stay the same genre. Every band has to make a change in their own sound, whether you like it or not, you'll have to accept their change and appreciate the music they've brought upon them. Good band, good music. Let's feast.
@SnorkyO In Flames has been through so much, musically. Whether they dropped a genre down or whatever, I still have interest in them. I still like the band. They're really good. I've been listening to them since 07 and hearing their old stuff from the mid 90s up to this day shows they're been through a shitload.
The way I see it, Architects are awesome dudes, and they've written three amazing albums. Still a great track record in my opinion. I would've personally preferred another heavier album, but that's not to say they can't do interesting things on a softer album. Yes, the album contains more generic radio rock cliches, but there are enough interesting parts to make me like it

@BlackRiff98 I'd go even further and say this tops older architects. Both albums are good but this one is way more mature. There's still a lot of heavy things but with a more hardcore feel. They're also showing off their vocalist's cleans off way more as they should, he's great.

Deffaintly best way to listen to this album is with the mindset of not wanting to hear hollow crown all over again. One thing I have noticed with this album which I prehaps prefer is that despite day in day out with its cheesey ass gang shouts and questionable lyrics the rest of the album "stay young forever", this one, and a few others have better lyrics because they are more real and not focused on a girl which can be said hollow crown were.
I hated this album... now I am getting used to it.
