After watching this again I realized that Damon thght this was Elena therefore he never loved Kat. he wld have known immediately if it were Kat had he truly and deeply loved her. He has kissed Kat many times. he never kissed Elena. His kisses with Kat were a distant memory and he was so clouded with the fact that he was indeed kissing Elena. Wouldn't he have known it was Kat if he really loved her? This is why Damon & Kat could never be in my books.

Like I've said before, Damon wasn't able to sense that it was really Katherine in front of him and not Elena because he was overcome with emotions after all that happened.

Think about it, the girl that you've been digging on since going to Atlanta actually feels the same for you, and you KNOW it but she doesn't realize that you know it. That would make any guy jump at the opportunity to express himself. Powerful emotions kept him from using his wits and thats why Katherine got pass him.

Oh yes, of course -- the only reason Katherine kissed Damon back the way she did was because she was trying to cause trouble. At 1st, Katherine wasn't confused as to why Damon was being nice to her after she tried to have him killed. After Damon said "Elena" she knew that she had to act like Elena or else there would've been trouble -- sure Damon still feels for Katherine BUT not the way he use to -- he knows that she played him, and she knows that he knows this.

I think, or at least hope Vampire Diaries will be back in the fall, even though I don't want to wait that long, I may have to. I think maybe Damon was suspicious of the kiss, but not positive and he knew he had just been caught kissing Elena by her aunt, so he was probably too worried for Elena to think about or know for sure if it was Elena or not.
