  • Lovely version of a brilliant song.

  • @thegreentreesmusic Are you serious! He pulls that off singing live on a riverside path! I know him -as in personally -and Ill tell you greatness NEVER has anything foisted on him! There is a king there -see if you can spot him -LOL

  • fantastic, great version of a classic.

  • killer pick. great local , great camera work. yet i feel the lead singer is not really into the song. (feels like his bandmates foisted it upon him). like he's riding on the surface of the song. i don't know their catalog, but i get the sense it's not his style.

  • what is the instrument yer man is playin???

  • @mickybo2008 I assume you are referring to the Sitar

  • @mickybo2008 I assume you are referring to the sitar

  • I adore this video...it always makes me happy!!! Fabulous version of a classic song...Cornershop are one brilliant band, they never disappoint!!!

  • What a fantastic version of a brilliant song.

  • Very good, lovely version of a beautiful song. WHat a risk to attempt such a classic - but you guys pull it off. Excellent!

  • Kind of reminds me of Frank Sidebottom's version of this.

  • @92RedRevolver RIP Frank.

  • Many Thanks EdgarHuntley for posting & Thanks to Cornershop for a great version of one of my all time Favourite tracks by "The Kinks"

  • I think corner shop have to be one of the most unique rock bands ever to have existed. They have a sound i have never heard anywhere else and will probably never hear from any other band.

  • @viddymeenow Thanks for the comment. We also love "When I was Born For The Seventh Time".

    Cornershop.

  • ..would love to go for a pint with Lauren Laverne ... like me from Sunderland ..... yep, a pint or 2 and music banter in The Chesters would do for me .....

  • singer sings like Harry H Corbett talks.

    You dirty old man,

    Must you keep flowing? etc

  • this is a good band i saw them eairlier inthe mid 90s before they made it big im glad they still perform ocassionally its a shame that there arent band like this these days just comercial pop bs

  • @MrCandelaman ..their last album had issues of anti-war, environmental problems starting out at Mexico (before BP), a view on the state of the music industry itself. They really are not pop, but have continued to build on their first album of 1994, which in itself inspired the book White Tiger and Slum Dog Millionaire, were part of the Riot Grrl Movement..the list goes on, and but still im happy your glad they continue.

  • @RingoCortina thank but i never implied that they are a pop band i merely inplied that the charts these days are filled with bs pop bands i been following cornershop for a long time i some them in the mid 90s when they where suporting their woman gotta have it album they where the opening band for superchunk and seaweed good back then im also a big fan of the riot girl movies i grew up in the 90s in the mdle of that scene

  • @MrCandelaman Oh sorry I got confused. On reading it back with how you put it, I apologise for that. But giving other bands a hard time I can generally agree with that.

  • @MrCandelaman Thats cool you saw us back in the days. Appreciate the nice comment.

    Cornershop

  • @CornershopHQ no thank you you gus where and always be one of my favorite bands as a matter of fact i remember that show it was in the mascarede in atlanta ga you guys where sharing the same bill with seaweed and superchonk but in my opinion you guys stole the show love to hear some new material from you guys

  • Der Chorgesang fehlt, aber sonst nicht übel..

  • Madonna at 03:16

  • who ever did the sound for this gig is shit but the band are awesome

  • Ahh the BBC did the whole sound, Cornershop just turned up. Yep drums are non existent but its gives a different view on proceedings. Glad you like elements of it.

    PS.

Well done to Edgar Huntley, first rate of you.

  • This band is great !

    Love Tjinder Singh

  • nice, Waterloo Sunset with an Indian touch.

  • This is a solid and very appealing version of the song, but it really doesn't matter who does it (David Bowie, Minnie Driver, Corner Shop) and what they add or subtract, because this, the supreme song of the past 50 years, has such brilliance that it shines through any rendition with the same eclat it had on debut in 1967.

  • i actually prefer this to the kinks version :O

  • Very nice version of that famous Kinks' song... Thanx Cornershop and thanks for the post.

  • Agree wif Chomp-chop. Well done, Shop-Boys. You did this great song proud. 5 stars.

  • and theyd make a great job of that early psychedelic indie status quo song that was on some bank ad or something recently

  • I heard them open for Oasis in Vancouver BC around 1997 - they did awesome stuff especially with sitar.

  • saw them on that same tour, in Florida. Oasis was in top form, but these cats were a tough act to follow. sort of re-shaped my views on music, if that makes any sense. what a band. new record is incredible.

  • Where did they play in Florida?

  • It was in Orlando.

  • i love this , they have done a great job its a great song

  • They'd do a fantastic job of Paint it Black as well if they ever get around to it.

  • Absolutely agree. Be great to see them tour Australia.

  • I like this better than the original. And the Dougal on the keyboard is a treat . . .

  • despite the literalism - waterloo sunset played at waterloo - this made me cry

  • This part of Bankside is in Southwark. Just incase you ever take the knowledge sorry =)

  • great cover!!

  • great cover.... im related to peter bengry.

  • Is it just me or does the sitar player look a tad bit like Tom Sizemore?

  • lol

    he doesnt....

hes my best friends daddy :)

  • great cover of the song....the song suits them so well especially with the added sitar part :)

  • What a fantastic moment in time. One of my favorite songs and one of my favorite bands. Deep respect here.

  • i couldnt agree anymore, i love this song and this is the best version ive ever heard of it

  • Well said, Cornershop has not gotten airplay in America (much less Texas) in quite a while. Even Brim full of Asha was only on a late night alternative radio show back when it first came out. made me buy the original CD tho. .

  • I don't think you have really lived untill you have heard waterloo sunset played on the sitar. Amzaing, I love this band.

  • Does it have to end?

  • awesome.

  • This is a cool version.
