  • Cause I have a 1950's Radio king it's 24"x14" 16"x16" and a 13x9" and I'm having some work done on it and I thought yours sounds great so I would like so idea's! THANK YOU!!!

  • What bearing edges do you have those cut to?

  • amazing kit !! And quite amazing playing man, great stuff, keep it up!

  • pussy

  • Oh and... what's that crash cymbal? It sounds killing cool.

  • These toms make me wanna cry.

I kinda knew before, but now for real... I WANT ME SOME RADIO KINGS.

  • Now THAT's a BASS drum!!!! That's the most gorgious kick I've heard since I heard Buddy's live, 6 months before he died. ... and tasty playing too mate!!

  • Hello from Canada. Thanks for posting this. I just bought a late 30's Radio King in the same sizes and love them. Are you using calf skins heads or plastic heads on yours? Just wondering. They sound great by the way - as does your excellent drumming thanks.

  • I dont understand why vintage drummer like Stanton Moore or Billy Martin use a 20x14 size as main bass drum . I thing bigger sizes like your drum are the best for funky vintage stuff . You have a great kit dude .

  • @godzuki444 I think they change it up all the time. Stanton used an 18.14 on his older stuff and now plays a 22x14 and 26x14. Billy Martin plays jazzy funk so in order not to wipe out the bass and keys off the stage he uses a smaller kick drum.

  • WOW thats a beautiful kit man. That bassdrum is huge what size is it? it looks like a 30" or something? Beautiful finish and it looks like its in perfect condition!

  • @zachthecrack

    it's 26" x 14"

  • What a lovely set! Cymbals are very complementary, and nice work showing the beauty of how to wake up an old set.

  • yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah so good this is the real good sound

  • one of the greatest sounding drum kits i've heard. the warmth and punch is amazing. the drummer is killing it! i bet that he's a pro. i love your chops. the snare is one of my favorite!! i want that beast snare. c",) regards.

  • Good groove dude!!!!Some nice soun of drum kit!!!!!!)Beautifull snare!

  • these sound awesome

  • awesome kit. love the finish. I just came across a 3 piece radio king for 400 bucks, i'm gonna cop it asap, it just needs a little work. anyway, your kit sounds killer. That kick is a monster. Did you do any restoring, or did you get that kit in that condition?

  • @kickinitonthetube

I recieved the kit in perfect condition...

saw it on eBay and shipped it to switzerland, quite a risk actually. i wasn't even 100% sure if it's a radio king, so i was very happy when i opened the boxes and saw the logo on the rims;-)

  • @thewaltztimebastards well props on that find man. I didn't know they had the logo on the actual rim. I'll look for that on the kit i'm lookin at tho.

  • Absolutely Fabulous! The last time I saw Buddy Rich play, it was on a restored Radio King set like this with a 28 " Bass drum. Just awesome!

  • Very cool. This set sounds amazing.

  • It's so disconcerting and strange to see and hear those modern beats played on such an old classic kit. I love it. Excellent work. Outstanding tensioning of the bass and toms. You really can't top an old Slingerland kit. IMO, the best.

  • great kit man..! love the warmth of that radio king kick..what is that?. 26-28 " ?

  • I love those radiokings. I just got a 40s kit myself.

Great drumming, thanks for posting this clip! 26" Kick drum all the way! Mine is a 24 sadly! Those drums sound effing awesome! Keep up the groove man, you got it.

  • Hey thanks. Well, I'm not sure about age of the front head. It has a Slingerland logo though. The batter heads are all Remo Fyberskins. I had to remove the original calf skins because i use this set for gigs, so the old heads wouldn't have been too reliable.

I think the tom have 2 hoops inside...but the bassdrum has 3 of 'em. The diameter of the BD is 26". Size does definitely matter;-)

  • Great job Krupa!! wonderful job!! Is that a 60's factory logo head on the front of your kick drum? also any calf on that kit, is that a 24 or 26 kickdrum. slingerland owned a company called solar that made their heads before remo started doing it.. also do the toms have 3 suport rings in them. I have a 1946 set i recoverd because the pearloid was to far gone. your a great player post more when you can.
