  • I have the SAME exact one. My parents picked it up for me at a pawn shop for a Christmas present. I'm still trying to work the qwerks (SP?!) out on it. I have small amps so it's hard to play anything without it sounding like someone scratching a chalk board.

  • I really like it

  • Oh wow, good job sir.

  • Sounds like a John Frusciante guitar solo.

  • What Whammy model is it?

  • Is that Digitech RP255, or is it older model?

  • badass.

  • Did you have to use anything to clean up the whammy's tone for bass?

  • hey man... this song is one octave higher?

  • That was fuckin brilliant!

  • BOOOOO u SUCk

    Jk

  • you should make whole song!!

  • I can't stop listening to this.

  • At the start of the song I thought it sounded like the guitar line from Tools "Parabola"

  • what effects (and set u used ) for this tone

  • what tuning u used for this masterpiece !

  • @AxozOfDeth

    Just the Standard tuning - E A D G

  • no whammy - yawn

  • Can you at least tell me if this was done on a 4-String or not?

  • @puppetmetal

yep four string bass with regular tuning ;)

  • Bass guitar. Get it?

  • Hey dude : it rocks !!! Seriously, that sounds great !

  • u say u wont tab it but can u tell me the notes u used or the scale? please?

    Please please please?

  • @16coreprocessor23

hehe yes, the whole tune is in D-Minor and for a more fusion-esque touch the D-Dorian scale (or C-Major) also fits well

  • @bassmajor thank u very much!

  • @bassmajor thank you so much!

  • Add 2 minutes to that and put it on itunes!

  • woooo nice

  • hey grt playing, i was just wondering if this was better than the red digitech whammy pedal? thanks

  • whoa, makes me wonder why I picked guitar

  • if your a musician, this is the best digital pedal you can get, it has an innovative digital setting that revolutionised part of the effect world. That an loop, and reverb and echo is good digital, the best buy analog for everything else. Have FUN!

  • sounds just like a lead guitar

  • Which Drum Program did you use?

  • very nice vid mate... keep rockin´ ( not like others)

  • very nice man... very nice what´s effects are u using in this vid?

  • very nice man... very nice

  • fukin sick!!

how exactly would u get that tone on bass?

  • that is fucking sick!

  • Sounds like an intro to an Iron Maiden song.

  • my wah pedel/volume thing broke on my rp250 ... but i still love it haha

  • One reason why I want a whammy xD

  • I can attest to the power of those little RP units. I have a 250 and for $75 ish USD, you get an amazing bit of kit. The sounds are great, the user submitted patches is a nice feature, the expression pedal is worth it's weight in gold and as a USB interface for your computer, the IO is super clean. When I need to keep things quiet, I run some patches without the cab emulation on my guitar tracks and then use Amplitube for a tube head/cab sound. Thing's great for bass too. Great demo!!

  • Awesome riffs! What sort of digitech pedal is it you used?

  • @cparkin92

    hey, thanks,

it's actually an rp250 i borrowed from a good friend

  • SICK! hahaha sounds amazing

  • Goddamn! Great overdrived channe dudel!!

  • I so wish you would tab/write this out for something like guitar pro 5 ^-^ 5 stars :)

  • :O jizz

  • dude thats fucking awesome!!

  • wow one of the best things i've ever heard :) what whammy did you use ? , i've never seen this before.

  • sounds john frusciante-ish

  • some people wouldnt belive that it was a bass but then again people dont really open there mind to the things bass can really do its sad really

  • Comment removed

  • holy shit.. that was fucking INCREDIBLE can u tab it? plz

  • once the drums and all that are in, it kinda sounds like Audioslave

  • @StupidSmartGuy yeah, i can see it being morello inspired. but it seems like more scale based than experimental

  • could you update a file about how did you play like it?

  • You gotta tab this out if you find the time, its epic, i'd be eternally grateful man, its a epic tune.

  • i love it!

    did you use distortion ?

  • thanks ;)

yep i used overdrive... actually i used a guitar amp :P

  • This is amazing man! Makes me realize that my 6 string bass can beat this if I had the talent >_>

  • Please tell me! Did you do that just on a simple 4 string bass, adding only the effects? Dude that was BEAST!!!! Absolutely magnificent!!!! 5/5

  • thanks,

yep it's a normal 4 string jazz bass with standard EADG tuning

  • this can't be bass

    it's fake !

  • @andrijaVIII2: nope! it is bass! Just watch the video to which I posted this as video response

  • there is no response video

    fuck u

  • your an ass hole dude

  • fuck u !

  • @andrijaVIII2 ur an idiot

  • @LoqBuster you're an asshole !

  • @andrijaVIII2 Its a pedal effect with whammy,!!

    Its that hard to understood?

  • I know that

but this dickheads are soo stupid !

  • @andrijaVIII2

    which dickheads?

  • @andrijaVIII2

    DON'T BE STUPID!

  • u knw what @LoqBuster

    stop playing bullshit

  • god...

  • xaxaxa

  • Well reason it sounds like a guitar is because the notes are the same on a bass. Only the octaves are different. The Whammy is an octave pitcher. So the octaves you get are equal to the octaves on the guitar :3

Awesome none the less! Amazing!! :)

  • Holy SHIT. This is AMAZING. Not just the effects, but your song, too! Holy shit, man.. You are fucking brilliant! I LOVE it. Reminds me of Buckethead!

  • u gotta be kidding!!!

  • how much was that pedal?

  • nice man... that pedal looks gr8 fun

  • thats a multi effect pedal¿?

  • Yes, it is.

Every Digitech multieffects include Whammy simulation.

  • this sounds like a guitar...

  • i was expecting something else.... ^^

    awesome dude

  • permanent ear boner......much appreicated

  • I don't know why people are turning this into guitar vs. bass. It's a nicely done little jam. Neat that all the guitar work was done on a bass. The instruments are simply tools; there is no way a bass or a guitar is "supposed" to sound. And there's never a NEED for guitar or a need for bass. You could have a band of all percussion if that floats your boat.

I have a red Whammy IV and I think it does all right on bass... yeah the octave-down settings are pretty useless but it's still sweet.

  • well said sir

  • why did you get spamed?

  • this has to be a joke... that was amazing, i had no clue you could do that with a bass

  • Kurisblack:

roland v99? thats your argument? there is another for bass and you can sound like a piano, sax, synhth, GUITAR, etc

and we dont need a roland v99, with tapping we can sound like a piano ( stu hamm) with a little distortion we can sound like a guitar (primus) and NOTHING can sound like a slap bass...

guitar is death prepare for the bass time bojajajaja

  • hell yeah :P

  • I haven't known Primus to use bass distortion very often.

  • He uses a fuzzbox all the time

  • Hmmm, now that I think about it, he does use one frequently. More for effect than for his main basslines though. Or just to get a little extra grit on the lower lines. I don't think that's sounding like a guitar though. The guy who made this video sounds a lot more like a guitar than Les does.

  • GODDAMN THAT'S FUCKING RAW!!!

  • I gotta try that shit! You'll really mess with the audience's head durign a live show.

    "Wait, the bassist did that?!!?"

  • really awesome!

  • awesome man!

  • Every instrument you´ll hear is a bass (except the drums). You are kidding! :D

  • There are plagues that aren't as sick as that. Good work.

  • that sounds really awesome

  • Very good job! I almost don't beleive It's bass.

  • now dont get me wrong, its a great song and i love that basses are getting more attention than they used to but bassically the bass is tuned an octave down from a guitar, and u probably have the whammy up 2 octaves, which means u can pretty much do the same on a guitar with the whammy one octave up. love the song by the way

  • good music is good music. doesn't matter if a guitar can do something that a bass can't or vice-versa.

  • we want to see a video where everyone can see you playing and not only see the multieffect from digitech ;)

and the combination of effects are whammy disotortion/hard overdrive and delay right??

  • yes you`re right. well I´m trying to get a decent video camcorder but atm all the money i earn by producing goes into strudio equipment and my new mac so i think it will take a while :/

if it`s just to prove it i will make a video for you with my mobile phone cam

  • now don´t understand me wrong i believe that this is possible with a bass and a guitar multieffekt like that from digitech, but im really interested to see how you playing it ;)

by the way what strings are you using and i think they are very thin right?

  • .... epic, but is the high-pitch really bass? Like I understand that it's doable, but how exactly?

  • its an effect called whammy :)

digitech has a single whammy pedal, but i believe they stopped making them

so theyre really on high demand

  • So the high-pitch is just a whammy setting and still bass? That's pretty sweet...

  • are you sure? afaik digitech still sells wammy pedals

  • Digitech still sells GUITAR whammy pedals, they don't work well on bass.

  • I've seen mods on the guitar ones to make em compatible, or you could try to find an old bass one on ebay that's like 300 now.

  • very nice...good job!

  • lol. I've done something like this with my bass guitar. nice job.

  • were did u get it

  • now that's what im talkin' 'bout...hell yeah son.

  • holy fuck, that sounds like no bass

  • Excellent!!!

    i liked it very much

  • i dont know why i just cant believe you that that sound comes from a bass, and from you, please would you upload a vid of yourself playing?

  • sweeeet!

  • im sure this is you, but honestly, it could be anyone or anything making this music. post a vid of YOU playing, not just some crappy digitech effect box

  • And before anyone critisises me, I think its awesome too.

  • i´ve got rp350 and its cool :P

  • dude thats some sick stuff you got going on, do you have any tabs?

  • sorry but for the last time:

there will never be any tabs created by myself because i hate them and i put my heart and soul into my music... not notes, numbers or scales. sorry.

  • Yeah but I put all i am, know and want to be into music, but to sound as good as that you NEED the basics eg scales and stuff. Tbh that commet was rather ridiculous. You could've just said no thanks.

  • well it's right that you need a basis like scales but i "built" them myself

  • Oh my fucking god.

that's the most sick and beautiful thing i've heard.

    you are a god.

  • HOLY FUCKING SHITTTTTTTTT

  • You are amazing honestly lol I listened to this about 8 times today. You're amazing you should post more stuff please.

  • great player mate keep rocking dude... i hope i play a 1/3 of what you play... someday...

  • Is that the RP-250? If so, that's the exact same one I have :D

  • yes^^ but i just borrowed it for a few recordings

  • Great playing, sounds great! What did you use for your drums? A real drumset or software?

  • it´s a reason drumkit i assembled^^

  • wow your rich

  • it´s just an rp250 i borrowed from a friend of mine ;) but i´ll get a real whammy soon xD

  • Get a bass whammy. The red whammy doesnt handle bass very well. If I were you i would just go all out and buy the purple one off of ebay.

  • but it doesn´t have the 2 octaves up function =/

  • but some other features make up for it. The blue one tracks much better.

  • I have a RP350 and I have all the features of a real whammy, but I think to access those (easily) you have to have the computer editor installed and the pedal hooked up. Makes it 500 times easier :) AWESOME video.

  • bass whammy is almost impossible to get these days, and the ones you can find are very very expensive

  • I have a red whammy and it tracks fine with my Spector bass. It gets a bit flubby on the low B but other then that it sounds great!

  • Thats seriouslt the most amazing thign on a bass ive ever heard if u can do that theres no need for a guitar, you can have a lead bass instead that would be amazing

  • If you can use whammy octave down, there's no need for a bass ;] Happy? I don't think so. So let's leave everything the way it is, all instruments are needed in a band :P

  • i think both is great... why shouldn´t a bass be able to sound like a guitar or the other way around?

  • Yup, but... if you play in band and there is both guitarist and bassist in it, there's no point to make instruments sound like other stuff :) However, I admit that this video of yours is wicked and you deserve 5 stars for it :))

  • Kurisublack: I bet that you are one of those arrogant guitarist that thinks that a bass player should never do lead of any sort, as this would steal your thunder! I play a 6-string bass tune like a guitar, but only an octave and a 5th lower

(B-E-A-D-F#-B) and I play guitar style chords and melody, should I stop doing this because it sounds like a guitar? I play what sounds good, and don't give a fuck how it was done, just that it was.

  • bass deserves more lead, i love bass riffs so why not bass solos.

anyway, why not tune exactly like a guitar an octave lower? i guess the standard 6 string tuning is good too however, whatever floats ur boat

  • well youll just have to listen to primus for now : /

  • @twiggymac That's what cliff did, but he died.

  • Kurisblack: I bet you did not know that Joe Perry actually played "Back In the Saddle Again" (and quite a few others) using a Fender VI, which if you don't know what that is: it looks like a guitar, however, it is tuned exactly one octave lower. This is where Aerosmith gets their unique sound on some of their songs of the 70s! If I was in a band with you I think you would end up tasting either basswood or maple! Or you may become a Popsicle from a drumstick inserted in a special place!

  • yea but a bass can completely imititattguitar cannot completely imitate a bass as it will always have that treble sound

  • calm down ;)

  • you´re all taking it much too serious... today both bass and guitar have enormous sonic capabiltys because of effects and different playing techniques and they can even emulate each other bot none of them will ever sound exactly like the other one if they are not played through a midi converter or whatsoever...

  • that's all on bass? wow! nice effects man!

  • holy shit, that is incredible

  • AWMG!!! TO SICK TO BE TRUE! maaan!! I gotta get me 1 of those what in the holy f*uck?!!?

Im a man on a mission now! rofl!

    5/5!!

    (seriously.. im like.. WHAA!? O_O)

  • dude, sorry but i´m absolutely not into tabs, i hate them...

i could make a video of that if i had got a video camera but i haven´t ;(

  • very cool, i was thinkin about getting the digitec whammy thats built for guitar and using it on my thunderbird.

  • Epiphone Thunderbirds are sweet

  • Oh, that's a pity. And what about the drums? How did you do it?

  • on the tracks i´ve uploaded I did the drums with a midi keyboard and reason but i also play acoustic drums ;)
