Physical discipline will do the trick in straightening them out, BUT this approach can have lasting negitive effects on children, leading to anger, stress, and anxiety well into their adult lifes. The problem with the "naughty room" punishment approach is that MANY parents cant apply it properly. Overall, the passive approach when applied correctly is the best way to raise children to respect their parents and become a fuctional member of society.

Mom is like a regular tattle tale. She's telling dad because - what - her feelings were hurt cause her kids don't listen. She needs to grow a damn back bone and discipline these kids. Not hit or anything, just create a time out or take something from them. Then she complains about the way dad disciplines his kids, or the way he talks to them. Sure the way he talks isn't right, but at least he's doing something. What the hell is she doing besides tattling on her owns kids and complaining?

Okay, this is the reason why spanking should be done. Freakin discipline your children. Sometimes a good spanking is what you need to get the point across. Don't abuse, but punishment needs to be done for bad behavior. Man, and there's no toys or whatnot for the kids to play with or stuff to do.

Children who are smacked,slapped or hit behave worse than those who are not. Children who live in fear don't really know how to act when they eventually grow up. I'm amazed that people really think that physical punishment is effective. For years psychologists have proven that children who are punished physically do not react well at all!

That is not true. Labeling children that are spanked is a bit ignorant. As far as what "psychologists" have proven... I AM a psychologist and a former biomedical research specialist.

I STILL feel as though children that behave in a certain manner sometimes need more than a simple 2 minute timeout. I'm sure that these families have the same problems after Jo leaves their home. Behavior problems are not solved in a mere 2 weeks of observation. Children must be trained to behave well.
