I´ve tested xpDx9 vs VistaDx10 and there is no difference at all. it looks exactly as good. and the dx9 water in this video IS with lower grafics settings.

TomZnbg is right, you can tweak Crysis to have the DX10 features on DX9, it looks the same and runs faster.

It's not worth getting Vista for DX10.

Even if it is faster (it isn't), Vista kills the performance gain.

Yes, and it's pretty easy too.

You can use the in game console or go to Crysis/Game/Config/CVarGroups and edit the files with a text editor.

well there are some diferensed with dx 9 and 10 especcially in the way it uses the video card if you have a dx10 card it is worth it becouse it uses all the proccesors and crysis is not realy the best example its still one of the first of the games that tried to make somthing compattible with dx10 so i think that in the future getting vista and dx10 will be worth it

Well, maybe in the future DX 10 will prove to be more then a gimmick for Vista but so far i'm not convinced since other DX10 games don't have the tweaking potential Crysis had so you can't know if it's a real DX10 feature or just a fake restraint.

Vista is a lot better than it was a year ago. My framerates are exactly the same as they are on XP, programs start up/load faster, and my computer boots up/shuts down much faster. Vista utilizes more of your RAM efficiently to speed up your computer.

Also, tweaking Crysis to use DX10 effects on DX9 makes a noticeable decrease in visual quality.

Vista got a bad rep at the beginning, but it was mostly patched and fixed by the time Windows 7 was released. I've been using Windows 7 for a while now though, and it's ALOT better than the patched up vista.

Well there you have it, my comp is able to run Crysis at high even very high spec. But Zoo tycoon 2 is a RTS and it runs like crap 20 FPS whileC Crysis gets even 70 with shadows and all.

Don't take it personally mate, but if u say such thing it is because your system is (mostly of the time not always) too weak for playing teh game.

Before I had my Radeon HD 3870 I was just thinking like u and in fact DX10 isn't that special ther's nothing in this vid what DX9 can't do ....but Windows Vista doesn't suck I get same performance as in XP. The trick is keep tweaking for 3 weeks and you have it.

I was hesitant of vista and the whole "spangliness" of DX10 but after banging a quad core in my pc and an 8800gtx i was dazzled 0.0

And he's rite about the tweaking.. took a while to get the best out of my cpu let alone the graphics card :P

That's right, the teweaking takes a very long time (and I say very long) but the result is what you need...

I hate Microsoft and their stupid support and so...but Vista is till now exept XP one of the best OS just tweak and you get your reward..same as DX10 . In Crysis you can simply edit the .cfg files and you can have DX10 effects on DX9 ( no big difference) and it goes very fast too.... mail me if you need tweaking advice (or PM trough my account :D)

The video proves nothing, it's just a matter of adding effects, there is nothing in that video that DX9 can't do, it was intentionally left out!

Yup,but Vista is not so horrible as some people say.I am a pc gamer and have had no trouble with any games,Crysis,Oblivion,HL2,Fear­.I understand why people are mad that they have to upgrade the OS to play the next gen games but Vista is not that bad.If you do get Vista and are a gamer then you better have more than 2GB of ram in your pc becuase Vista eats up ram like nothing before.Get Vista Home premium,4GB of Ram,an 8800gtx and a quad core cpu and games will play just fine with DX10 enabled.

Yeah.But if you are installing Vista into a pc that you already have,make sure all those components are compatible with Vista.I have had no trouble with it becuase i have a very powerful rig that is 100% compatible with it.You will most likely have no trouble with Vista but just want to give you a heads up.

From what i have read about that card,the 7600GS is a DX9 card and not DX10 so your card can't play games in DX10 mode but there is some good news...kinda.A game like Crysis gives you the option to play the game in DX9 mode so you would be able to play it but ONLY in DX9 mode.If you want to play a game such as Bioshock or Crysis in all of its glory then your gonna have to get a DX10 card.Get a 8800gtx or an Ultra.

DX10 does have some visual improvement. In DX9 there are no ripples, just opaque splashes, whereas DX10 has realistic ripple fx. But I agree, this subtle difference probably isn't enough to justify the extra computing power, and the lower frame rates, that DX10 uses.
