this scene is so sad. i do love how Rick takes control of the situation. look at the positioning of his legs and his gun and his eyes before he shoots Sophia and right before he does. there is compassion in them like he doesnt want to kill another human being but he knows its the merciful thing to do. he isnt acting just out of survival like shane but he is acting like a true leader. rest in peace Sophia.

It increases the feeling of vulnerability; that the zombie horde can take the most precious thing anytime it wants... Carl has to die this or next season, because he'll not look like 9 forever, and as far as show go briefly based on comic Lori would have to be killed after she give birth in 9 months and that would be likely in season 4 or end of season 3(if they will made so many seasons), moreover actor who plays Carl is 12 already and in 2014 he'll be 15 and it'll be hard to pretend that he is nearly 10 years old

@janka371 They can't just keep carl a young boy, this isn't like a cartoon series or animated series. They kept you know Jimmy neutron looking like a small kid throughout all the episodes, same with spongebob and timmy turner from the fairly odd parents lol. If its a real life drama show then obviously the characters are going to age so there's no stopping that. Yeah I wished the little kid from 2 and half men stayed young but hey thats life you grow up and you can't change that in a show.

i know that characters are going to age, but I meant that actor who plays Carl will be aging faster than his character. as I said there have been just about two weeks from the moment Rick found his family till the moment he killed Sophia. if show will go forward with the same speed then writers will not have much of a choice. and according to comics, WD will go the same speed.

In the television show, Carl (and Sophia) are already 12 in the show's canon. They made a few changes contrasting in the television show; therefore, it is unnecessary to change the actors or kill him off.

Uh, no, he's most likely to die (where in which his morals will collapse by the end of season 3). Carl will most likely kill him, and plot will once again take it's course.

He probably won't die until 4th season, at the latest; but I /know/ he is going to be murdered. He tried to rape Lori, killed Otis, etc.
