  • damn nice.. just ordered me some 3.92 and master install kit get rid of my 3.55

  • Not true. Speedo recalibration is not needed for a gear change. Speedo was off by about 4 mph due to the slightly taller tires I had on there.

  • Was the speedo recalibrated? If not ur maybe going 45 mph tops.

  • I have the 4.56 gear ratio on my 99 5.2 magnum 4+4

  • wow wish my ram had those gears that picks up some speed fast !

  • 3rd gear clutch slip. but the dodge sounds sick

  • @samfl15063

I think it's the converter locking up. It's not slipping.

  • is that a stock tranny? It shifts different then mine. I have the 5.9l slt also. Mine sorta mushes the gears together and shifts slower but yours just jumps to the next gear.

  • @tomcatdcn

That would be a Martin Saine tranny. Good for about 500 hp. It'll set you back about $3,500.

  • @tomcatdcn instead of waiting for the OEM trans to bite the dust, you can upgrade the 46RE with a transgo SK®TFOD-Jr shift kit for about $30. I bought it primarily as it allows fluid flow through the valvebody in park, allowing better warm ups in the -40C Canadian climate.

  • niceee :) im planning ong etting 4.56 in my durango! nice vid

  • i have a viper blue 1999 durango 5.9 love it just i have a tick from my dash i think my tack is bad :/

  • go 100 pussy

  • @drsmoney12 That was in a 15 mph zone. lol

  • My friends mom just bought one for him, and it is already dead with total electrical failure. I think that she is selling it for an explorer or 4Runner. She bought it for my friend, and I told him that the 4runner is the best bet, cause it is!

  • @Motorfordtoyota Kind of hard to pull 7,000 lbs with that 6 cylinder 4Runner now isn't it?

  • @gr8scott95 Its also kinda hard to pull 7000 lbs with a dodge that dont start. Thats why they made v8 4runners, 2003-2008, look em up. Stupid. And yes the 2003-2008 4.7 4runner can tow like 7,100 lbs. And the 4runner will actually start, and drive!

  • @Motorfordtoyota

First of all, you use incorrect grammar and call me stupid? lol

    It's doesn't, not don't.

Second of all, you think EVERY 4Runner runs the way they should?

Third, maybe you didn't notice what year my Durango is. You could NOT get a V8 then and even now, I really doubt you'd find a nice, clean, LOW mileage V8 4Runner for $4,500. That's all I paid for my Durango PLUS is drives just fine.

Lastly, if you don't like my vehicle, why even come onto my video and talk trash about it.

  • @gr8scott95 1st of all, when did I ever talk trash about YOUR vehicle, All I said was that my friends mom just bought one for him for when he gets his liscens. And less than 2 months later, it is already in the shop, and that was tipical for a Dodge of the late 90s and early 2000s. An no, you cant get a 2003+ 4runner for that price, you know why. Because 4Runners do a thing that isnt known to dodges, its called, HOLDING ITS VALUE.

  • @Motorfordtoyota The early mangum motors are one of the best reliable engines out there for its time espicially the 318. You can mod them for really cheap too. Second of all you cant say dodges are shit just because you know someone that has problems with them. If thats the case I know of 1 4runner that is a total piece of shit so i guess than means 4runners suck they are over priced anyways

  • @400exrider92 And anyways. Every one I know who owns or owned a Dodge had tons of problems. Trannis, exploding pistons. Weak rods, cracked heads, total electrical failure, explodidn diffs, ect. THey all upgraded to Toyotas, Fords, or GMs. Not a problem since. Since 93, all dodge have been shit, except a few new 2011-12 modles.

  • @Motorfordtoyota You got that wrong buddy the new trucks are shit come up here where I live I guarantee you 70% of my town owns dodges I have 3 havent had a single problem with them 98,01,07. I bet toyotas just have as much problems as any other vehicle maker that goes for ford chevy and whatever else.

  • @400exrider92 Not really, the only problem we have ever had with my 88 Toyota 4runner since its been in the family in 94, has been a dead alternator.

  • @Motorfordtoyota Oh well toyotas must be the shit then right. If thats the case I have a 95 jeep grand cherokee with 216k miles on it orignal engine I drive it almost everyday. My 04 grand cherokee has 100k and only expensive thing I have put in it was a 150.00 wiper motor. My last ram the 85 250 I only put a alt and battery in it had 247k on the truck but I rebuilt the engine cause I was doing cam and rockers I then put another 110k on it

  • @400exrider92 Ok, my 4runner has 262,102.3 miles. Nothing major has gone wrong. Only that alternator and a clogged cat. from 23 years of use and 262k. And our Sequoia has 134k nothing gone wrong yet.

  • @Motorfordtoyota I'm going to settle this my dad has a 93 chevy 1500 with 320,000mi and nothing but a couple of water pumps, it was used as a construction itruck so they a very hard miles. His friend has a 99 suburban with 460,000 mi and just changed the plugs for the first time! The plugs are the first thing out side of oil changes he's had to do.

  • @Motorfordtoyota True, and not. I had an older '92 Dodge Spirit with the 2.5L I4 and 3 speed auto. I put on 672,000kms. In that time, I also replaced the head gasket a few times (half a days work - not bad), the radiator and fuel pump sending unit (wires/plug corroded!). It towed fire wood to the cottage at the time but the frame eventually rusted through and I had to part with it. GM quality has diminished more than any OEM in the last five years.

  • @RT360ci I guess you didnt read the "sine 93, all dodges have been shit" part. Pre 93 they are ok. GM has one of the better quality products of the Domestic heard. Chrysler is ok, but Ford has a way to go. GM is overall the best American brand in my opinion. I wouldnt have a Chrysler product because Chrysler is Italian now and that means they are worse off. And Ford, well, Apart from the Taurus, I dont like their designs. But the Taurus is WAY overpriced.

  • @Motorfordtoyota I own a '99 Taurus, bought it as a demo with 42km. Other than getting a seat belt return spring replaced, haven't had any issues in the nearly 12 years now outside of regular main. items. The new Taurus only seems overpriced, as it's no longer a mid size but rather in the full size class. Fusion is on par in terms of size/price just as the Taurus. More car costs money but my '99 still runs great! GM service is terrible here. My G6 GT has spent 18 days at the dealer since 2006.

  • The engine sounds demonic at 4000 rpm

  • @Unasigad The 5.9, depending on the PCM creates it's max HP at 4000-4200rpm. The great thing about the 5.9L V8 is that it still pulls great, well past 4200rpm, at least on my R/T.

  • dam 4;56 i have the rt with 3;92 and i can fill those gears when i im on the highway so what is your tack at when your at like 70

  • Where did you find the 4.56 gears? I was always wanting to put a taller ratio in my durango, i think 4.56 might be a little much for mine but I'd like something in between 3.73 and 4.56.

  • Taller would be a smaller number. 4.56:1 gears are shorter than the stock 3.55:1 or 3.92:1.

Just take your vehicle to your local powertrain or 4x4 shop. They can hook you up for about $750 per axle.

    3.55:1 was stock

    3.92:1 was factory option

4.10:1 is the next step up

    4.56:1 is after that

  • Ok i always thought it was the other way around taller is actually a bigger number, but yeah mine had the stock 3.55. its 4x2 so i guess i'd only need one axle done, but the 3.92 from the R/T would probably be pretty nice or 4.10. I'd like to still be able to get to 60 before it shifts to 3rd, i see yours gets to 60 by 3rd gear, pretty nice setup though.Did it affect your gas milage badly?

  • City mpg is the same as before. It is about 14 mpg. Hwy dropped from about 16 to 14.

I wasn't worried about mpg when I did this as I need it to tow 7,000 lbs which it now does with ease and still gets 9.5 - 10 mpg while towing that much.

  • Right, yeah luckily gas prices are ok now but before 14mpg would definitely hurt the bank account. I get 16-21 withmine surprisingly

  • @gr8scott95 i would own you in a race city boi

  • @sheet4u

Don't know what you drive and don't care. Didn't buy my Durango to race and I modified it to tow not to race. I can easily pull over 7,000 lbs with it and have pulled over 10,000 lbs a couple of times with no problems.

  • @gr8scott95 ohhhhhh 7k pounds, thats so hardcore?

  • @gr8scott95 3.92 was stock on the R/T models only.

  • @RT360ci And? You could still get the 3.92s on the SLT.

  • @gr8scott95 Just pointing out that you had mentioned that the stock axle was 3.55, however 3.92 was the only (hence stock) axle ratio on the R/T models. I think Dodge could've dabbled more into the aftermarket here and made a killing by offering a 4.56 option as the aftermarket is making a killing themselves, even to this day still.

  • @94EglVisionTSI Yukon Gear and Randy's Ring and Pinion are the better online ordering sites if you want to DIY. Be warned, you have to rent or buy the proper tools to get the preload set correctly or the gears won't mesh properly lowering durability and increasing noise. If you're unsure, it's best to take it into a shop.

  • Seems around what mine runs, but mine sure don't chirp 2nd....nice

  • 0-60 in 7 seconds pretty good

  • i think its a little bit quicker than mine look at mine on my name
