  • makes you hate turbo props and new aircraft technology haha

  • Comment removed

  • I had a plane like these once! Then I lost it in my sand box...

  • I love the sound of those radials :)

  • thanks to WW2 for producing nothing but HOT RACING AIRPLANES HAHAHA

  • good idea to place the fuel truck near those fighter planes

  • AWESOME

  • i have lived here all my life and hate this f***** good ole boy state and belive me if i could leave this piece of crap state i would their isnt any thing here except a bunch of wanna be humans

  • @oldman850 It's no better in Florida, just in case you ever thought of moving here. The bulk of the economy revolves around the Disney cancer, which feeds a seedy carnival midway economy of tourist traps, dying strip malls, MLMs, scams of every kind, fast food, timeshare rackets, etc. Suburban bloat and trailer parks everywhere. We fight with other southern states for the title of Worst School System.

Florida is a very different kind of dump from Nevada but, a dump just the same.

  • Really strange sound bits. Very random and quite unnecessary

  • gor blimey guv

  • The one with the RAF roundels...Hawker sea fury?

  • @swinkyuk pretty sure yes. just look at the huge radial engine and fan nose

  • song: main titles - john powell

  • thanks for vidoe man

  • Wow, génial !!! Vraiment l'impression d'y être... Skyrocket, Mustang, etc.

    Très bonne vidéo.

  • 0:15??? is that you ricky haton?

  • note tanker of fuel!!!

this must burn tons of the stuff.

In times of dwindling oil supplies and the(supossed) greenhouse effect, is this morally right?

  • @tpvalley you're joking right?

  • @NikitasGuitars

Im just asking the question, I havent made my mind up whether and when the time will come when stuff like this is stopped by the greens.

  • @tpvalley Well look at it this way, Nothing is more important to our future than our past... Keeping these old warbirds running and popular is an important reminder of a time that's gone for good. As far as wasteful oil use goes these bad boys are a tiny drop in an enormous ocean of wasteful stupidity.

  • @NikitasGuitars

to build a house, u start with one brick.

  • @tpvalley no, to build a house you start with thousands of bricks, then you put them together.

  • @NikitasGuitars no, to build a house you select your block and then right click the terrain and hope you can finish something decent before the zombies come out.

  • @NikitasGuitars It is a proven fact that the biggest single guzzler of oil in the entire world is the U.S. military. Period. We must all conserve fuel for the war machine of criminal capitalist imperialism.

  • @tpvalley Get outta here!!! There is 300 years of oil left if the hippies would drill it.

  • Shutter speed makes it better. XD

  • see the old dudes do have all the money and the really cool toys. young have nintindo

  • they maybe old but can you fly an airplane these guy's must have been in the war flying those corsairs and mustangs the real hero's before all that technical stuff im proud of them

  • @datzfast When the young will spend more time working on business than playing Nintendo... they will become old dudes with cool toys.

  • I will go here. Before the nannies stop the fun for good. I have too!

  • Sea fury used Bristol Centaurus, 18cyl compact sleve valved engine, some US guys have replaced with easier to maintain powerplant. R2800 I think??

  • boy the lens on that camera you have isn't worth a shit at all. all that red flaring and crap. I hope you didn't actually pay money for that piece of shit.

  • The dude in the F-80 is cheating!

  • One day I will go, before the Nanny state says its too dangerous or irresponsible and bans it all....

  • I agreee with the porn comment ! You should smell em too. That fuel/oil mix first firing over is equal to the smell of fresh clean P---y !

  • I see that Bob Odrigaard is working on restoring CookCleands original #74 F2G Super Corsair Racer.Uses this same engine. Stock it has 3500Hp at take Off. :)

  • oh if i were a millionaire...

  • Superbe, bien vu, bien monté une bande de oufffffff ..............

  • dear god! i creammed all over the keyboard. XD

  • Man, the sound of those engines in fly makes me shudder, so fuck beautiful!

  • as soon as im a retired airline pilot im going to buy one of these things. and proable kill myself

  • Nicely crafted video !

  • Awesome !!!

  • those planes look alot more like the A1H Skyraider or aka the Hughes Special (Howard Hughes designed a single engined Monoplane for the Air Corps, but somehow the plans magically ended up in Japan and what do ya get, the Mitsubishi A6M2 Zero

  • I was there that year for my birthday and the next two years also, I'd have to say my favorite aircraft was the F7F.

  • MUY BONITO

  • It's kind of sad that in 2010 the world's most exciting airplanes are still ones that were built in 1945-50.

  • Screw nascar

  • G R E A T A I R C R A F T S !!!!

  • SWEEEET!!!

Here's hoping you get to upgrade your camera, because you know where to go;)

  • I am a useless fat fuck. I'm watching airplane videos while sitting here on the sofa. I have never done anything worthwhile in my life and your shutter speed is too fast.

  • I didn´t know that such a thing existed, a radial griffon?? They where as far as I know V12 engines!!

  • @1339LARS

What? radial Griffon? no, the Hawker fury/sea fury was engined with 18 cyl radial Bristol Centaurus sleeve valve (turn left), but most of this aircraft, because lack of parts for this engines, are remotorized with Wright R3350 (turn right)...

  • Your shutter speed is fine. Ignore the guy with the chip on the shoulder.

    Great video - many thanks.

  • What plane was that at 3:01? Looks awesome!

  • top tout cela ! tu as le droit d'accéder aux avions sans problèmes ?

  • nice video! I want to be there one day!

  • Talk about rich people finding ways to spend their money. You could probably feed a small country with the amount of money spent for the reno air races. I ain't complaining, just saying.

  • 1:56 Is that a tigercat?

  • Hey hey what is the name of that metalic plane? The one with the counter rotating props that looks like a P-51D

  • it is called Precious Metal, highly modified P-51, counter rotating props, wings shortened, uses a long take off run to get airborne, but it is fast...

  • @karlstifler I certainly hope they made that from scratch. They destroyed a P51 if they used an original to create that.

  • J'ai adorer ! tres beau vidéo !

  • 2:33 i love the noise

  • would love to have seen the Pond racer in there...

  • The minimum weight rule stinks. It just ensures the only competition is chopped up historic warbirds.

  • you're a putz

  • @neomuttley

Show me someone who has nothing positive to contribute, someone who cannot simply enjoy some amazing machinery, and someone who comes across as an absolute cunt, and i'll show you the profile of a youtube user called neomutley.

    x

  • @neomuttley What's the matter guy? Not enough money to own one and it's eating you up? I don't have one neither, but I'm very happy for anyone who does. Maybe they just worked smarter than you and me, huh? If you want one, open up a business, work like hell, as they probably did, and go fetch one. If not, don't show the world how envious you are - you are just raining on your own parade anyways.

  • @zideffil,

Tell me something, Mr.Semi-Literate. How many such spoiled POSs have you ever met? Not too many, I'd wager. As I work in nursing. I routinely work w/spoiled weanies who were handed everything in life. You think they've earned it through merit & hard work? Pulleeze... Are you really so naive?

  • tres belles video

    merci à vous !!

  • Simply amazing!!!! Thanks for the upload!

  • why don't head on over to reno and get us some footage next time?

Stop being such a ass hole

  • What makes you think I haven't, and that it just happens to be commercially available?

  • They are Furies or Sea Furies, the engine should be a Bristol Centaurus but most have been re engined with Wrights. Wrights have 4 blade props the original would have 5 blades. Most of those you see exist because they were given to Iraq from FAA stock (or off of production line) post war to establish its airforce as jets took their role at home. These were later kept in storage and bought with many ending up in the USA for racing purposes or restored for airshows. Ultimate piston engined fighter

  • Merlin Griffen? Two different motors made by Rolls Royce and sometimes under license by others.

  • Those radial engine figter at the beginning is Hawker Fury? Well, there is more of them...

  • Sorry, now i see it at the description to the vid. It is interresting, that all I know about Fury is, that it has been built in GB by HAWKER. And here I read NORTH AMERICAN Sea Fury. Were they made in US too?

By the way - Excellent vid! :-)

  • Me & my O'l bud "the Stone Bone" were there! Brings back all those hair raisin memories on the back o da neck! No thing like it ... anywhere!

  • neeeeerrrroooommmmmm yes they fast love to fly fast and low

  • Trés joli le camion d'essence :o)

  • C'est Bien! Best mix of vid, sounds, music and action. Nice to see all the classes represented.

  • Years of experience always outweighs youthful exuberence.

  • @ 3:00 - sweet plane! it has many lines of a Mustang- is it a modded Mustang? tail looks like a Mustang - when my dad was delivering fresh fryers (chickens) to the owner of Miss Such Crust (hydro) in the late 40s he helped the mechanic out by driving the hydro around Gun lake a lap or two - the mechanic wanted to listen to the boat - big American V12 (Allison)?

  • oh Gosh, a Jelly Belly Piper Cub, and i thought Sparky (P-51D) was it! XD lol

  • sweet planes, drool, drool. cool vid.

  • griffon radial? I thought the griffon was a v12?

so do these have fancy cam grinds and gas flowed heads etc?

  • The radial engined plane with RAF markings=Hawker Fury? Does anyone know where I can find out about the engines these racers use? I mean, I know the engines, but are they modified, or anything?

  • Does anyonw know what song that small clip of music is from (2:44 - 2:48).

  • The Bristol Centaurus engines in these have been replaced by Curtiss-Wright R-3350 radials, same as the Constellation, DC-7, P-2 Neptune, etc., because they are much easier to find parts for, and the late model engines make around 3500HP stock at T.O.. (not to say there's not someone out there still running one, though.)

  • Pratt & Whitney R-4360's are also used. Nothing sounds as good as a bunch of radials!

  • Wrong,nothing sounds better than a bunch of V12 merlins :)

  • i bet these babys would chern ur blood up when ur flying them like this imagen in a real dog fight oh boy

  • I thought that was understood...

  • This 10 times better than NASCAR!

  • @scrabbleking1965

NASCAR?? Turn and brake twice a lap? Try Aussi V8 Supercars for real car racing :-) (Sorry, couldnt resist...)

  • @scrabbleking1965 anything is.

  • @scrabbleking1965 add a couple hundred zeroes to that and I'll agree with you lol.

  • @scrabbleking1965 Omg why did you even mention nascar jeez ??? :)

  • imagine doing real dog fight with these flying machine must be heart pounding. the engine sound just epical

  • The Merlin Griffon Engine (Rolls Royce) is not a radial, it is a V-12. The radial you are talking about is the Bristol Centaurus, 2400hp used in the Hawker Fury & Sea Fury.

  • Sky porn! Sky porn! Sky porn! These planes are pure porn with wings. (i mean that in a good way)

  • @175myles so is my parrot

  • Its still a good vid, no offence.

    Love the sound.

  • Hello. As you could know, with a small Casio digital camera the shudder setting is not permitted to be setted.. so , we have to deal with...! sorry...!

  • Offering to be camera instructor but can't figure out how to post videos on youtube. Well, have you thought about a career in comedy?

  • Hey... are you camera instructor...? show me, first, your own videos... best regards..

  • Excellent video...!

  • thank's to you...

  • Nothing like the sound of souped up aircraft engines, regardless of configuration. Wouldn't it of been cool to seen a Jumo 213 or DB 605 been 'modded' for the same period of time as the rest?

  • We can hope and pray that one shows up some day. Or any of the other fine engines produced by Germany during ww2.

  • Most Merlin engines were built by Packard under license from Rolls Royce during WW2. They were called Packard Merlins. Packard out built Rolls Royce Merlins almost 6 to 1 and the Packard built engines were superior in quality and durablity. After all, Packard built the finest V12 car engine in the world, at that time, so they had the experience.

  • Hi toadabc, it costs up to a million to buy the plains and thn to race ready them, at least that again!

  • if you have to ask you can't afford it.

  • Verry true. These are a million miles out of my reach!

  • There is one Griffon in view for about a second (the Mustang w/ counterrotating props) but no sound of one.

  • wow, look at 1:25 awsome ^^

  • Talk about the sport of kings. I can't imagine the money. Aren't these planes hundreds of thousands if not millions? Fuel, thousands? And unlike motor sports, I didn't see any sponsers.

  • great video, thanks

  • ericgougon: A merlin is a merlin & a griffon is a griffon They are 2 distinct models made by Rolls Royce. And the merlin & the griffon are inline engines NOT radials.

  • i know that very well.... thank's...????

  • i have always wanted to go to this airshow!

  • how many cylinders is that bearcat? 0'30 is it 16?

  • o:30 is that a yak? also how many cylinders lookslike 8 exhausts on this side at least. 16 cylinder?

  • Good Stuff !

  • When was the last time you saw a prop stop while the engine was running?

The shutter speed on the camera is too high!

  • Shutter speed it too high...unrealistic.

  • unrealistic real footage?

  • Yeah because the prop looks slower than it really is.

  • Hawker Sea Fury

  • At 1.05 it is a "SeaFury"....

  • Jets create too much wake turbulence for air racing... making shit dangerous... Love sounds of these planes

  • They all make propwash or jetwash and its about equal because they both require about the same thrust to move them through the air. Though jets typically are less aerodynamic, so some may require more thrust.

  • in my opinion radial engines should used instead of jet engines because jet engines just waste way too much fuel.

  • this is music!!!!

  • hey there I hate to be a smart arse but that is a Bristol Centaurus radial engine on the fury, the merlin and griffon were (are) rolls royce V12 27 litre and 36 litre respectively. The Hawker fury was developed from the Tempest and Typhoon which was originally fitted with a 24 cylinder sleeve valve engine like 2 flat 12's mounted on top of each other in a "H" laid on it;s side. Beautiful aircraft, great video keep, thank you for posting this excellent footage

  • Most of the flying Sea Fury aircraft have switched from the Centaurus to an R-3350, mainly for reliability. I don't think any Reno racers are flying with a Centaurus. A couple of Sea Fury are using the R-4360 Double Wasp. A Typhoon with a Napier Sabre would nice to see, although it will be difficult to get one running safely. Kermit Weeks is working on one.

  • I love how the engines are so tightly tuned they barely start!

  • HAWKER SEA FURY.. Lovely.. i want a spit 9 tho !

  • no you need a spitfire MK2

  • That'll do me as well my friend..

    How about a MOSQUITO ?

  • yep but are there any mosquitos flying anymore?

  • As far as i know there aren't.. have seen one years ago, brilliant !

If anyone knows otherwise about the mos, please tell ?

  • A number of Mossies currently being built to fly, but none are currently flying. Search for the ones being built from scratch in New Zealand. They are slowly coming back to life.

  • you want de haviland sea hornet (the next design up from the mosquito), which came into service with the Royal Navy just at the end of the war. They were capable of up to 482 mph stunningly beautiful aircraft.

  • I forgot about that one.. you are right, lovely plane..

How about the westland whirlwind ? i don't think there were many of those made !

  • the westland whirlwind had great potential but had unreliable engines, It was years ahead of it's time with a early bubble type canopy and 4 20mm cannon in the nose. Considering it was capable of 360 mph in 1938 it was faster than anything in the sky. I'd love to see what they would have been capable of with merlins.

  • how dio you mean that?

  • Two words,,,shutter speed

  • Hawker Tempest Mk II, nice looking plane.

I wonder why they don't choose to fly the Mk V instead?

  • oldies but goodies

  • These aircraft ROCK !! The sound and the fury ..Yeah!!

  • A symphony of horsepower. Excellent video! Thanks.

  • Good video, keep them coming!

  • belo video parabens

  • can someone explain to me why radial engines seem to slowly start up and misfire?

  • Not a complete list, but:

1)Bigger engines take several seconds to reach temperatures that sustain optimal burn of the mixture, so they misfire a lot at first.

2)With lots of pistons facing various directions, the lubricant is in all the wrong places in some of the cylinders. This and a very rich mixture cause white smoke that you see in the startups. So they crank them with the ignition off for a while to circulate the lubricant. This appears as a slow startup but it's normal.

  • thank you, as a non-practicing A&P i should be ashamed of myself but in 2008 theres not much practice on radials lol, but makes sense in explanation, thanx ur knowledge is good lol

  • excellent! engine noise over music

  • Nice. Is it a Dewoitine?

  • Hello Eric !!

Je t'ai aperçu à Duxford ce dimanche, relax au pied du XIX.

Jolies vidéos de Reno et des Sea Fury ... On perçoit bien le nouveau centre d'intérêt !!! :-))
