Although this recording does not entirely do justic to the timeless, eternal, unique

and iconic art of Feodor Chaliapin, it proves that he could lead legions and arouse

the deepest emotions in the most timid of souls by the sound of that heaven shak-

Remember tat the old recordings did not pick up all the overtones. His voice would have been fuller, richer and would have sounded deeper. He was one of the first really great actor/opera singers. He did his own make-up and each character looked so different. How I wish I could have heard him sing.
