@JeffersonDinedAlone I used to watch Welcome Back Kotter. Sure, I was nine years old. It wasn't bad for a light comedy. Do you think ABC would show "Masterpiece Theatre" during prime time? Kotter crew reminded me a little of the Marx Brothers. 70s tv was corny but the 60s were worse with Gilligan's Island and Gomer Pyle, USMC.
Whatever happened to 'Murray'.the ' less than brilliant' black friend of 'Carvelli'(Charles Fleisher) who stood around constantly wanting to repeat everything some one said and say,"Hey Carvelli, did you hear what he said?" & Annoyed, Carvelli would tell him,'I heard him Murray,I heard him!!"
So many memories of the time and the show. In 5th grade, we would repeat the put-down lines that we heard the night before. All you ever heard in our class was, "up you nose with a rubber hose!"
The school they show in the opening Credits is New Utrecht High School in Bensonhurst Brooklyn as seen from (take a wild Guess) New Utrecht Ave. Also the Billboard the girl was talking about on 84th street would have been the billboard on the EL. (elevated train line ) on New Utrecht ave and 84th st. By the Regina Pacis catholic mission Nursing home.. The nursing home is no longer catholic and the billboard did not last into the 1980's...
I think Robert Hegyes, who played Juan Epstein, was a professor at his alma mater Rowan University in the '90s. "Welcome Back Kotter" was the greatest '70s show. It had the best afros.
@DENo1MatchGameFan for the record, her biggest project (of few she's done) was "american graffiti". she was that girl with Harrison Ford who yelled "ain't he neat" at Charles Martin Smith.
@ashcarl116 I would say that her biggest roles were on TV, as Mary Hartman's sister Cathy Shumway on "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman", as Rosalie "Hotsie" Totsie on the first season of "Welcome Back, Kotter", and as Donna Pescow's sister Marie Falco on "Angie." She was also in two of the "Police Academy" movies playing a cadet as well.
@DENo1MatchGameFan uh.....I was referring to "biggest project" as something more people would be familar with (like film-going audiences).
E.G. famous for being famous Zsa Zsa Gabor, sure she's been on tv many times, she's appeared (mostly in cameos) in some lame or "not-to-big" movies. but her biggest project is the 1958 masterpiece "touch of evil" (as websites say).
The Welcome To Brooklyn sign has been replaced by Welcome to Brooklyn: How Sweet It Is-a tip of the cap to The Great One, Jackie Gleason. I do miss the Kotter days of yesteryear though. You young kids have no idea.
Very cool, thanks for the info.

Debralee Scott died in 2005, and was also a semi-regular on the 1970's version of "Match Game."
