Yes... beautiful playing from Terrell Stafford & Greg Riley.
No senseless nonmusical fumbley finger runs from either one of these musicians... so often tolerated & heard from the typical musician attempting to support a song in this style.
With these two, every note is sensibly placed, cogently thought out.
I carry a mouthpiece on a long bungee cord. If any of ya are at a gig and you go into a senseless fumble-finger rant on a song, just be forewarned, I'm gonna BAP your trumpet bell
@quitbullshittingme Yeah, I did deserve that virtual ass-kicking on the shadow side of the club parking lot.
I realize that boomeranging a lousy finger fumbler trumpeter with a "CO2 cartridge" mouthpiece was a very vivid attention getter. Sorry.
But I don't want to remove my comment by clicking "Remove" , because, you know what? I AM sick and tired of the average "jazz" trumpeter who has no soul to convey during a solo, and doesn't know their jazz scales and progressions. F*n Valve-a-bators.
Terrell was one of the trumpet clinicians and teachers at the stanford jazz workshop this year. He is one of the greatest trumpet players in the world, as a soloist and technically.
I love Terrell's embouchure, it say's "Hey, how bout this?" to all the teachers who like to completely revamp their students chops due to an "incorrect embouchure".
actually classified as hard bop. Just a tad bit different, but similar roots. Hard bop is a much more modern style, coming into the forefront following the cool period. Bebop was much earlier, predominantly in the decade of the 40s and early 50s. Just puttin in my 2 cents, bebop and hard bop are commonly mistaken with each other. That being said, this piece is great!
Loved that trumpet solo man. Loved it. Usually fall asleep to cats tryin to play Daahoud. Loved the tone, the energy, feel, style, everything. Well played man. Swinged hard. Sax was way too loud durin the head though. Sound man should be docked. heh.
What's that mouthpiece Terell is using? I have never seen anything like it!

Terell has a great understanding of bebop. So he can go there and farther. Very rare these days. A lot of people skip over bebop.
