In Poznan for example there was pogrom in 1367, later followed by other pogroms (Krakow, Kalisz etc.) It is said that about 10 000 Jews were killed in these pogroms.

Unfortunately you're right. The Catholic church refused to take any sort of stand against Nazism- and some of its members were outright collaborators and supporters of the third reich.
Keep in mind though, Martin Luther was himself violently anti-semitic and the Lutheran church- which had considerable influence in Germany- also did nothing to stop the nazis.

I agree with you that it is a contradiction to claim Christianity and hold racist views, but holding double standards and opposing views is another thing humans are quite good at. It's real a shame for Europe, and it still exist this racism today, not against the jews but against the muslims and blacks.

Eh, ok I calmed down a bit. Sorry for my outburst but I've heard a lot of bad things about Poland, more bad things than good and I tend to take everything personally. On top of that I experienced prejudice in practically every country I've been to (from Jews too), so I'm very upset at everybody's hypocrisy. Every nation has close-minded individuals and racist incidents, but it's unfair to generalize and focuse only on the bad things.

It's unfair to let humankind forget about its inclination to base its hatred and violence mostly on race. Poland today isn't the same Poland shown in this video. However, I think about 90% of the Jews who lived in Poland before WW II were either killed or emigrated, so there's very few Jewish Poles today. It's hard to be racist against an absent race. And anyway, I think the world's occupation with race is ridiculous and blind. I wish we'd all discriminate only between good and evil people.

Thanks for this documentary. Hey MsciwojPL - I will give you that Poland was one of the more tolerant states during medieval ages - But nevertheless pogroms took place there, even in that period. In Poznan for example there was pogrom in 1367, later followed by other pogroms (Krakow, Kalisz etc.) It is said that about 10 000 Jews were killed in these pogroms.
And in this time antisemitism is live and kicking in Poland - Radio Maria anyone?
