That's 100% Bob Marley singin'...gorgeous stuff these early Wailers tracks....does anyone else hear a "Trust" era (Mellow voiced!) Elvis Costello in his vocal by chance??......
Bob is amazing I was listening to a radio show and theyb wanted people to guess who was singing a song, it was bob but no one guessed right because the singer sounded like an ol time church boy decent and clean sound like a girl. I never heard this version and i dont think thats bob, honestly it could be someone else, sessions were weird back then
@newyorkjamaican Thats No doubt Bob, you can tell he was just a lot younger, and not to mention cancerless. This has gotta be one of my favorite Bob songs
Check out his other takes of this song. They are all on Youtube. His normal voice comes through in places. He wasn't a natural baritone, he was forcing it.
People who know his voice know it's Bob. People who don't know his voice may not be able to tell that it's him, but that is their shortcoming..
The fact is that this is clearly Bob, without as much as a single scintilla of doubt. It is absolutely, clearly, undeniably, and unquestionably Bob Marley. Absolutely no doubt whatsoever.
He sang that way for a couple of years because the Wailers didn't have a real baritone. On the other versions of this song his voice slips sometimes into his natural range and then you recognise him.
Bob Marley was the greatest musician of all time!

I can hear Peter and Bunny in the backing vocals and they only backed Bob. This is a classic wailers record.

Just listen to the music. It's from the soul, about love, and it's just Bob and the Wailers. No one else.

Real Bob Marley lovers recognize his voice in an instant.
This is definitly Bob with Tosh and Bunny in the background.
I just discovered today actually How much bob and the wailers were inspired by The Impressions.

Honestly, it is Bob. I think he was trying to sound like soul singer Jerry Butler by lowering his voice.
