Whats wrong in the church? I dont have enough keyboard to type it. Lets start with the fact that 90% of the people their are their for social/cultural reasons. the other 5% being the poor blind, and innocent children. Next, they put mere men before Christ and the creator. No one walks into a church and starts praising Yhwh, they seek out people to shake hands with. they leave when the lying preacher tells them to, and dont research the truth behind the vaque spiritual sermons.

I personally find no problem with the Mass of Paul VI when it's celebrated with reverence and solemnity. I recently had the opportunity to attend the "New Mass" pro populo, celebrated in Latin. However, I do agree that what was shown in this video is a disgrace to the Catholic Church. Those people look like they're in a Pentacostal service! Truly shocking.

The people enjoy rock, dance, videos, skits, singing etc. Clergy enjoys old rituals that hold little meaning for todays society. Pope Ratzinger wants to resurrect the old Latin Mass; which means nothing in places like Asia, Africa and Latin America. It means even less in Northern Europe. Time will tell which way the church goes in the next 20 years. I suspect Ratzinger will go down as the worst Pope in history.
@cloudsurfer007 I would say that Ratzinger is the greatest Pope we have had since Pius XII. Pope Benedict XVI has recently seen that the Novus Ordo translation is done right. Benedict has brought back the Tridentine Mass, and he has had to endure the cleanup of the problems left behind by the previous four Popes, which they either ignored, caused, or were too apathetic to do anything.

God wants an honest relationship with Modern Man. He does not want rituals that use magic, dead languages, rich costumes, elaborate stage props etc. The formalism you love dates from the Renaissance, and was never part of the Ancient Church. Eucharist was seen as a symbolic act . The congregation pledged their own body and blood to become "Christ's Present" in a lost and hurting world. Transubstantiation, tabernacles, monstrances, perpetual sacrifice on Calvary didn't exist. Get back to basics.

If you knew anything about the rituals God gave to His people the Jews & He renewed in the rites He transformed to build the Church. @VictorLepanto God never laid down any rituals regarding the Mass. Early Christian music and worship differed from place to place and culture to culture. The mass was in Greek and Hebrew not Latin. Dance was common. Love feasts were parties. Liturgy was the work of the people. The vestments you hold so dearly were the garb of everyday people. The Chasible was a workman's apron and had pockets. Somehow Jesus message of love and personal relationship with believers got lost. in the Latin Mass.

since i cant post on the other vieos i will post on this...about the sacraments,...Baptism: i was baptized in a "novus ordo" sacrament, but the priest said the prayer of exorcism, he anointed me with oil, and did a trinitarian pouring of water. as a seminarian, i have looked at the ritual, it retains all those things. these videos, while generally good, have many errors in them aswell. Altars: could be made of wood, and many older churches have wooden altars, like St. John Cantius in Chicago.

I would be Catholic if there was a Latin Mass around. I can deal with the New Mass during the week but NO WAY on Sunday, with the soft rock liturgical music and having to stop and socialize during service. I went once and was an absolute nervous wreck by the end. Even going to a noisy bar would be easier on my nerves - at least I could have a drink and there would be hard rock instead of enervating soft rock.

I don't think things are all that bad as the video made it sound. But I do think things have gone wrong since Vatican II. In my home parish more and more people are not attedning mass and the younger kids at my parish don't understand the faith. Im only 18 but I still want the old mass back or at least for it to be said more often. My church says a latin mass once every two months and it has one of the highest attendance of young and old people.

@alfaandomega2 Constantine didn't found the Roman Catholic Church. There WAS no R.C. Church, or Eastern Orthodox Church, or Protestant church when he lived. The Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, and invited bishops and councils to codify Church teachings. This system, inspire by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by saints and the early Fathers, existed for 1000 years, until Protestants dumped it because they "knew better".

i guess the ol' Church has loosened up a bit since i was a tyke. i'm no longer Catholic since i was kicked out of the confessional box by Father Kelly when i was 8 yrs old for missing mass that month. it used to bother me until i realized that i was probably saved from eventual molestation. now i see all religion as cults and Power Groups and i am happy to be a watcher rather than "owned" by priests and fanatics. i believe in God and Jesus. i don't believe in church.

Just consider the fact of the alter screens. In English they were called rude screens I believe. They are still there in some old Anglican churches. I've seen them in museums, the Museum of Philidelphia has wonderful collection of Medieval alter screens. The tearing out of the alter screens was an attempt to open up the Mass to the congregation. This if very similar to the reasoning behind some of the more obnoxious innovations of post Vat. II. I personally advocate some return to Latin in Mass.
The ironic thing is that the Tridentine Mass was itself a very radical alteration of prior practice. Go read an account of Latin Rite liturgical practices prior to Trent. Eamon Duffy's book, The Stripping of the Alters, has a good account. It was much more like the Eastern Rite, down to the alter screens. If we make a fetish of how they did things prior to Vat. I personally find no problem with the Mass of Paul VI when it's celebrated with reverence and solemnity. I recently had the opportunity to attend the "New Mass" pro populo, celebrated in Latin. However, I do agree that what was shown in this video is a disgrace to the Catholic Church. Those people look like they're in a Pentacostal service! Truly shocking.

I think Christianity will either go the way of Conservatism or Progressive worship.
The people enjoy rock, dance, videos, skits, singing etc. Clergy enjoys old rituals that hold little meaning for todays society. Pope Ratzinger wants to resurrect the old Latin Mass; which means nothing in places like Asia, Africa and Latin America. It means even less in Northern Europe. Time will tell which way the church goes in the next 20 years. I suspect Ratzinger will go down as the worst Pope in history.

@cloudsurfer007 I would say that Ratzinger is the greatest Pope we have had since Pius XII. Pope Benedict XVI has recently seen that the Novus Ordo translation is done right. Benedict has brought back the Tridentine Mass, and he has had to endure the cleanup of the problems left behind by the previous four Popes, which they either ignored, caused, or were too apathetic to do anything.

God wants an honest relationship with Modern Man. He does not want rituals that use magic, dead languages, rich costumes, elaborate stage props etc. The formalism you love dates from the Renaissance, and was never part of the Ancient Church. Eucharist was seen as a symbolic act . The congregation pledged their own body and blood to become "Christ's Present" in a lost and hurting world. Transubstantiation, tabernacles, monstrances, perpetual sacrifice on Calvary didn't exist. Get back to basics.

If you knew anything about the rituals God gave to His people the Jews & He renewed in the rites He transformed to build the Church. Neither the rites nor the vestments of the Church much changed in the Renaissance. The design of Churchs did, but only in a MORE classical direction.

@VictorLepanto God never laid down any rituals regarding the Mass. Early Christian music and worship differed from place to place and culture to culture. The mass was in Greek and Hebrew not Latin. Dance was common. Love feasts were parties. Liturgy was the work of the people. The vestments you hold so dearly were the garb of everyday people. The Chasible was a workman's apron and had pockets. Somehow Jesus message of love and personal relationship with believers got lost. in the Latin Mass.

The ritual of the Mass is described in the Didache Apostolorum, in the writings of St. Justin the Martyr, & various other places. All I can do is repeat my earlier comment, learn some ACTUAL Church history. Not the hodge podge of fantasitc nonsense you described. Embarrassing.

since i cant post on the other vieos i will post on this...about the sacraments,...Baptism: i was baptized in a "novus ordo" sacrament, but the priest said the prayer of exorcism, he anointed me with oil, and did a trinitarian pouring of water. as a seminarian, i have looked at the ritual, it retains all those things. these videos, while generally good, have many errors in them aswell. Altars: could be made of wood, and many older churches have wooden altars, like St. John Cantius in Chicago.

I would be Catholic if there was a Latin Mass around. I can deal with the New Mass during the week but NO WAY on Sunday, with the soft rock liturgical music and having to stop and socialize during service. I went once and was an absolute nervous wreck by the end. Even going to a noisy bar would be easier on my nerves - at least I could have a drink and there would be hard rock instead of enervating soft rock.

This makes me so sad to see. Destroying Altars? What good did that bring the faithful? The hurt that was brought upon the Church from a few within is horrendous. And for what? These new "Church" monstrosities cost more to build than some of the elegant Cathedrals of past. At any rate leaving something intact cost less than tearing it out and replacing it . Ask most lay people and they will in no way condone what is done. It is one person's agenda usually. And now, money again, to return it.

The Latin is back like it or not. Last year the enrolled in high school Latin classes jumped from 5,000 to 135,000! If you are a Catholic and serious about your faith, visit a Tridentine mass and you will notice the difference. PAX TECUM.

I don't think things are all that bad as the video made it sound. But I do think things have gone wrong since Vatican II. In my home parish more and more people are not attedning mass and the younger kids at my parish don't understand the faith. Im only 18 but I still want the old mass back or at least for it to be said more often. My church says a latin mass once every two months and it has one of the highest attendance of young and old people.

What a strange piece of propaganda, it depicts a fundamentalism,uniformity and conformity that never existed, just as it deceptively portrays a current chaos . If people want a particualr culture of Catholicism and particular taste thats great, there is much beauty in traditional rites, but there are many cultural expressions of worship, not all need conform to one taste so long as the underlying theology is maintained.

The Emperor Constantine made Christianity the official religion of the Roman Empire, and invited bishops and councils to codify Church teachings. This system, inspire by the Holy Spirit and nurtured by saints and the early Fathers, existed for 1000 years, until Protestants dumped it because they "knew better".

The changes of Vatican II are beautiful as they allowed Mother Church to exhale the poison of liberalism. In much the same way as a body fights an infection our dear Mother Church is running a fever to expiate the sickness. In a few short years she will be healthy. The maker of this video is very naive to suggest that anti-pope Paul VI could not forsee the destruction and desecration to come. Who does he think instituted the Novus ordo, even after over half of the Cardinals voted either completely against or with reservations against the new "mass" because of it's unCatholic nature. It depends on the definition of those words. Williamson was wrong; but the removed "perfidious Jews" from Good Friday was not all Jews as the Bl. Virgin Mary&the Apostles were Jews.
We should note that Bl. John 23rd, the jolly pope that wanted the Church to be lightened up, did not make the N.O.. He added more lay participation in the Latin Mass and may have tweaked some things, but the 1962 liturgy is still good. Maybe God allowed the N.O. to protect the Latin Mass from being corrupted.

i guess the ol' Church has loosened up a bit since i was a tyke. i'm no longer Catholic since i was kicked out of the confessional box by Father Kelly when i was 8 yrs old for missing mass that month. it used to bother me until i realized that i was probably saved from eventual molestation. now i see all religion as cults and Power Groups and i am happy to be a watcher rather than "owned" by priests and fanatics. i believe in God and Jesus. i don't believe in church.

Just consider the fact of the alter screens. In English they were called rude screens I believe. They are still there in some old Anglican churches. I've seen them in museums, the Museum of Philidelphia has wonderful collection of Medieval alter screens. The tearing out of the alter screens was an attempt to open up the Mass to the congregation. This if very similar to the reasoning behind some of the more obnoxious innovations of post Vat. II. I personally advocate some return to Latin in Mass.

The ironic thing is that the Tridentine Mass was itself a very radical alteration of prior practice. Go read an account of Latin Rite liturgical practices prior to Trent. Eamon Duffy's book, The Stripping of the Alters, has a good account. It was much more like the Eastern Rite, down to the alter screens. If we make a fetish of how they did things prior to Vat. II, why not go back to before Trent even? The changes of Trent were in fact meant to draw back the new Protestants.

Um no, no , no, no. Look at the Gallican rite, or the Carthusian Rite, or the Dominican rite, the are very much similar to the Tridentine Rite. The Sarum Rite of Medieval England is a bit Eastern in appearance, but for the most part, the prayers, language and vestments and chants were all Roman Rite. The Mass of trent was a hybrid of all the major western rites of the time.

"Vatican II never gave permission" ... this is the most uninformed and or diabilical argument put forth by novus ordo defenders. Using a typical trick of the modernists, Vatican II "allowed" through the use of ambiguous language and phrases (such as specifying changes to be made by a "competant" local authority) gave the leighway for all of this nonsens. Catholics PLEASE wake up and read Pascendi, The Syllabus of Errors, and other writings by True Catholic Popes, ie Pope St. Pius X.

You're asking the wrong question. The point is that St. Pius X knew about modernists, exposed them and warned against them in very precise language.
1. He condemned modernists because they desired to convince people to believe that doctrines could evolve.
2. John XXIII, Paul VI denied doctrines of the pre-Vat II Popes.
3. God is eternal and therefore changeless.
4. Either pre-Vat II Popes were wrong or post-Vat II popes are (I'll believe the Pre-vat II Popes)

You have to take appart both masses and analyse them with a microscope. The new mass has heretic elements attached to it. One point most crucial is the consecration: Jesus said ¨for the salvation of many¨(pro multis), but the novus ordo says: ¨FOR ALL¨, TO ACOMMODATE ALL DE PROTESTANTS AND HERETICS. Check it out. PAX.
