I get the electoral vote issue a little, but, it still feels like every vote just doesn't count. I know that it can't come down to which states are more populated, but with that said, shouldn't it in a way? If more live there, then that's it. Our votes still would count just as much wouldn't they? Whoever votes, votes. Why wouldn't it mean just as much. I am soooooo confused. Anyway, congrats America, we won!
Have a great vacation Emi! (I'm sure the rest of the staff is taking some time off too, enjoy it!)
Perhaps when you get back you can do a video explaining the history of the electoral college and why we use it instead of the popular vote (too many people do not understand the reasoning behind it).
I love the fact that Obama won the election. However, I believe that the electoral college needs to be eliminated. Popular vote should be the "say all" in any election.
BTW; Thank you for your service FactCheck. Have a great vacation Emi.
the say all? so b/c new york and cali and texas have a much larger population than the rest of the country they should decide what's best for small town america? I don't think so, that's what we call disenfranchising voters. the electoral college is the best way to ensure that everyone's vote means at least a little bit
With a straight popular vote, if we needed a recount we'd have to recount about 136million ballots. How scary is that? But we could all do like Maine and Nebraska, one vote for each congressional district, two for each state, the same way they are apportioned.
Great job! I look foward to more fact check in for later this month...Have a great vacation!

The electoral college disenfranchises states like New York and Texas because it leaves the election up to just a handful of swing states.
