  • just watched the whole movie, now my favorite movie, but sad.

  • The animation is absolutely stunning here!

  • thats a shitty trailer, doesn't make me wanna see the movie, which I will cause I've been told it's great

  • This was my film of the year. I gave it a perfect 10.

Maybe if i didnt see Belleville Rendezvous. Maybe i wouldnt "get it"...

    But i'm glad i did.

Its a love letter to Scotland, Edinburgh. It looks GORGEOUS! In shear quality of animation its on par with Spirited Away, and Howls Moving Castle. Every frame you could freeze frame, and quite happily frame and put on your wall.

Thats not taking into account of quality of story telling. It simply takes time to evolve characters, and storyline

    Perfec!

  • why isn't this in danish cinemass???..

  • I really hope you guys see this movie, if you haven't. Seen it twice myself.

  • please the name of the song!!

  • I don't know how describe this movie.. it's from 2010, yet it's like an oldschool classic.

Amazing drawings, music is perfect, it makes you fall into a trance and just enjoy the movie.

    Beautiful movie.

  • looks like a professor layton game XP

  • La escena más emotiva es cuando deja al conejo en libertad, );

  • Take a tip from me if you like a good cartoons... My tip is: visit "cartoons free us" - free cartoon database, sit back, and enjoy!!!!! you won't be sorry...

  • i am going to see if this on netflix RIGHT NOW!!

  • @nerdygurlrulez It's not.

  • the bunny is so cute love The illusionist movie :)

  • Yes, poignant.

  • where can you buy this film?

  • i cried :'(

  • What was the song at the beginning of the trailer?

  • @uglyguitarman Chanson Illusionist :D

  • You know, I found this movie extremely amazing. It was differet in a good way. I am American, so I am used to 3-D and very upbeat animations. All tend to have a happy "everyoe lives happily ever after". This one was kinda of sad for me, however I still loved it. It shows how the loss of imagination when a child grows. IT makes you sad when you have to realize the reality of life. I loved it though! makes you appreciate the art in 2-D animation :) and beautiful soundtrack

  • The whole movie is incredible, truthful, and beautiful. It's ending is as sad as it it is perfect. It's very moving.

  • how this movie didn't win best animated and best soundtrack I DON'T KNOW!

  • one of the most powerful movies, with so much meaning I hav ever seen in my life

  • I would like to apologise to anyone here about the argument between myself and MrBlaziner taking up the comments section.

  • i like the movie, is different from other because it gives u realistic perspective and there is no talking =]

  • Just finished this film and im still in shock! Really a MASTERPIECE

  • I seriously need to watch this!!!

  • just an amazing film..when you watch the ending and the music finally stops, you just think about alot of things, things that are happening in your life, and you analyse them very closely

  • This was the single saddest ending to a film I've seen in years. A truly fantastic film, instant classic.

  • @SuperThatGame fucking hate people who ruin endings... and fuck the other people who thumbed this up..

theres always to choices in movies... will he live, will he die? will they get away with it, will they not?

now i know, when it comes to end... the ending will have him die, or get raped or some shit.. thanx

  • @MrBlaziner I didn't ruin the ending. Anyone who watches this film and can't see a sad ending coming is fairly naive. Its not like i ran up and said jesus dies at the end of the bible. Not every film has choice. Now shut up, and watch the film or sit there and never watch any film again. Because by a technicality, the very nature of many films spoils the ending.

  • @MrBlaziner And one last thing, saying fuck you to people who thumbed me up is really stupid. Thats basically saying "How dare you agree with a valid point!". Congraturations. You are winrar.

  • @SuperThatGame no, its like saying, thanx for up thumbing a spoilers.

your a fucking dork faggot... winrar? srsly? fuck your a loser.

  • @MrBlazine If you'd read the comment, and possesed the basics of human intellect, you'd notice I never gave anything away about the film other than it has a sad ending. Many, many films have sad endings. its not really spoiling anything. And well done for proving your own stupidity by resorting to pitiful insults such as "dork" and "faggot". Neither of those is even technically an insult. Especially dork. It translates as "ha ha, your smarter than me". It doesn't make sense.

  • @SuperThatGame lol wow... can't beleave i waisted time with someone so stupid.

your words don't mean nothing you bundle of sticks.. jesus christ, and i explained how that can spoil a movie.. but your to much of a dorky faggot retard to understand anything.. btw love the grammar, people will never be able to make fun of you for it.

  • @MrBlaziner Thankyou for complimenting me on my relatively correct grammar. Of course it will never be as terrible as yours with multiple full stops for no purpose and nonsensical insults. For instance, bundle of sticks is a symbol of strength in roman symbology. So once again I thank you. You haven't explained anything about me spoiling the film. Once again "Dorky" is a compliment to intelligence. And using christ as you did here makes absaloutely no grammatical sense. Congraturations winrar.

  • @MrBlaziner You also failed at spelling, and you have enough wounded pride to point out grammar mistakes based on typo's? *Clap, clap, clap* You must be very proud of yourself. Here's a metaphorical cookie. Gives +3 to ego.

  • @SuperThatGame wrong assumption fagatron, i wasn't saying it was bad.. I was more insulting you in a different way. A way that only someone who doesn't give someone a cookie of +3 ego would understand.

done arguing with this mega nerd. Lol go play with your dungeon and dragon friends, or at least move out of your moms basement you fat nerdy fuck.

  • @MrBlaziner Again you make ridiculous assumptions based on no observations. like a good catholic. Calling me "fat" is very stupid, as you've never seen me in real life. *sigh* If you must know I'm a 20 year old martial arts practitioner weighing in at 75 kilo's. Thats average weight. I have never played dungeons and dragons, I used the cookie as a means to stoke you to anger and prove my point of your ego. Thankyou for that by the way. I live 200km from my mother, and said house has no basement.

  • @MrBlaziner Fagatron is not a word, mega nerd is once again a compliment to intelligence and calling someone fuck is a really stupid move. Whats that supposed to mean? I am a sexual thrusting move? Great insult sir. Why not try calling me a hump next time? Also, correct english would be "I'm done" not just plain done. So would you mind going back to primary school english, or buying a package from rosetta stone then coming back? The time will also heal your wounded pride. Cheers.

  • @SuperThatGame

Have you not seen Mary and Max?

  • @chriscat83 No, I don't believe I have. Thanks for letting me know, I'll look that up.

  • @SuperThatGame, I cried in this film, dawn. So sad yet beautiful as well, the animation was amazing too.

  • Barely just watch this an hour ago. So captivating! I really couldn't believe this movie was made a year ago! The art... the style... the animation! Lovin' it!

  • a man with blue paint can paint in red

    MIND = BLOWN

  • I love how every scottish man in this movie was wearing a kilt.

  • @PotatoEater92 Only a few were, most Scots don't wear kilts any more, that was more of a 1600's thing.

  • @Calengela yeah im scottish, I know most scots dont wear them anymore. Infact I dont see anyone wear them unless its an occasion. It sucks. Id love to roam around in one.

  • @TheHonp I totally agree with you.

This 1 minute trailer is magnificent, imagine 80?

I dn't believe he lost the Oscar to...

There's something wrong with the "oscars"? THUMBS UP, WHO THING SO

If "Toy..3" did not win the Oscar, they would choose "How..Dragon", no doubt, and yet Sylvain Chomet wouldn't win, as exemple remember 2003...and so on.

But apart from that, still leaving comments, and recommending the movie to family and friends

Inspiring an enjoy with his great work.

  • What the fuck is wrong with people advertising that web site?!

  • This movie is so realistic, yet creatively a delicious smorgesbord of drama, comedy, fun, and high detail. It's a really slow cooking story for those who want to really savor a film. Each scene gradually unravels a new dimension in the old man and the young girl. Oddly fresh to the usual hollywood disney and pixar animated movies. Telling such a story with barely any speaking throughout the whole film is an unusual and exciting concept. It's like watching a framed painting come to life!

  • @Hotts4you Perfectly put.

  • This movie makes me think of happy thoughts c:

  • I really enjoyed this movie. It was very well done. It should have won an academy award. Thanks for bringing it to us all to watch.

  • UNCSA is showing this tonight!

  • They never show 2D animated films like this in England anymore and I haven't seen one on the big screen all my childhood (Not a 90s child). They seem to think here at my cinema that 2D sucks and don't bother putting up the film if it's in 2D.

  • I live in England and I don't think they ever showed this film here :( What the hell is wrong with our cinemas!?!?

  • @Bloodshotshatterbone We have the same problem in the US. If it doesn't fit the homogenized 'cookie-cutter' mold, then the big studios won't even look at it. Thank god for the small artistic, creative studios!

  • @dustyroot You're lucky. We don't have small artistic creative studios here. It's always just one or two reining cinemas (example ODEON). It's the same with supermarkets too. Always either Tescos, Morrisons or Sainsburys.

We don't just have this issue with films. Even the food has to look exactly the same here. For example all cucumbers have to be straight. If it's curly but still perfectly good and edible they'll throw it away. The amount of food wasted in the UK could feed the whole of Africa.

  • this movie is VERY slow... it took me about four tries to actually get through the whole thing however it was worth it and i must say it is a good movie.

  • brilliant, beautiful film

  • tati's mannerisms depicted flawlessly!!!

  • fuck off spammers!!!

  • It is so calm!! :D

  • وانا

  • انا

  • اللي جا هنا بسبب تويتة مالك نجر

    يقول أناااااااا

  • مالك نجر

  • This trailer makes me smile. I wanna watch it.

  • This looks interesting...I'll need to watch it one day.

  • There's more sound in this trailer than the entire movie

  • I'll coment so I remember that I need to watch ths movie, it looks great

  • Beautiful movie, but the ending is so depressing!

    no... just realistic.

  • This movie was worth my money. :) Loved the atmosphere and the detail.

  • I would like a magic spell to kill all of this spam! >:O

  • I just saw this and I loved it.

  • the movie is beautiful and at the same time it's quite a sad story.

  • Magicians aren't real ;( fantastic movie.

  • Does anybody know what the animation studio is? I think the movies really have a nice drawing style and way of coloring. The movie also looks nicely animated, in stead of using computers (CGI).

  • @Qtie4U Django Films. Based out of Edinburgh.

  • the animation looks terrific, i gotta see this

  • i loved this movie! it was absolutely beautiful! i loved that it was hand drawn! don't have much of that now! im glad that there wasn't much talking it just added to it! i especially loved the RABBIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thsi movie is soooo good amazing story and cartoon very beautiful!

  • Is to show one second of a clip, it requires 12 pictures. If this movie is of 1:50+ hours lenght then Director must have painted 79200 pictures to complete this movie.

What a hard task man ! Poverty is one of greatest misfortune.

  • It is no illusion when I say that The Illusionist is one of the best movies I have seen for a long time. Many movies with their high-tech and 3-D special effects cannot match the visual beauty of this hand-drawn animation and with little to no dialogue touches the heart with its genuine emotions.

  • This looks less scary than The Triplets of Belleville haha

  • Such a masterpiece - I find myself thinking about this film all the time. Does wonders for the imagination, Chomet is a genius.

  • get tae fuck wi yer madness video ya kents

  • Almost as beautiful as an authentical Jacques Tati movie.

  • It looks so beautiful that I can only say 'aaaah...' :)

  • Just finished it. The ending made me kinda sad.

  • @SmartAssery jus finished to watch too, the ending makes me cry :(

  • I love this film.It actually made me sad though but it was beautiful.

  • the art work is just stunning in most simplistic way. i just fond of these films esp after i became a huge fan of the triplets of belleville.

  • I loved it, I like simple shit and this does it

  • This movie sucks I have seen it believe me Dont watch it

  • The movie's on MoviesOnDemand right now for 5 bucks. I watched it today and I loved it. It was visually dazzling and amazing and probably the very first animated movie I ever watched without it having so much dialouge to explain what was happening, and I understood it and still I find it to be fantastic. I can't wait for its DVD arrival!

  • I find french animation so intresting, i absolutely love it. Is this the official trailer? I have never seen this movie but it definately peeked my interest.

  • @Naim674 went to that site and I got a virus!

  • @Basnet87 I went to that site and I got a virus!

  • @ruvindu27 I went to that site and got a virus

  • This looks to awesome for my little brain to handle. There is nothing, NOTHING, better then hand drawn animation. Its feel, its look, its energy, its a beautiful thing to behold.

  • @gag75 Yes, I'm really sad that 2D animation is dying. Hand-drawn works show the author's love and effort; computers make characters more realistic, but much less lovable.

  • @marelicainavokado

Most of the time I don't even think cgi looks as realistic, its too perfect, and shiny, and well hinged. Hand drawn gives the character a sense of unpredictability I think.

  • @gag75 Actually yes, like 16th cent. paintings: no dust, no assymmetry, no random hairs, too perfect to be mistaken for real :D Old animation is funnier because you can simply draw how a character's jay drops to he floor instead of complicating on a computer.

  • @gag75 Well said, WELL SAID! :D

  • Unforgettable scene ever... Best movie at filmsi.co.cc ever :) Favorite film ever, I think it's time for a re-watch. This is the moment I fell in love with this movie. This is for far mi favourite movie, best film ever.

  • this movie was veeery boring

  • Espero por fin sacar tiempo este finde para poder ver esta obra de arte

  • Many thanks to the Korean company Sunwoo Entertainment for the great cartoon drawing works. Cartoon drawings of this movie are so unique and excellent!!!

  • i was brought by the 2006 trailer of the illusionist

  • The people at these fake movie websites amaze me. Why would someone dedicate so much time creating bots to spam trailers with a site just designed to give innocent people viruses? Some people in this world really are scum...

  • I think this is the greatest trailer of all time. I cannot stop watching it!

  • One of the great animated films of our lifetime!

  • why when a blk person has powerful illusionist or magical skills people in power always wants to destroy them.Yet when a white person has magical or illunisionist abilities they are protected and revered.

  • @tiye777

did you even watch the movie? i don't want to spoil it but the Illusionist who happens to be white wasn't exactly protected or revered.

  • @PushingUpTrollss oh! well i was just making a general world comment because there's always merlin the magician and harry potter! this one is definitely the exception!

  • This film is one of the few things in life I can't seem to understand how could anybody dislike it. It's like an unexpected hug from the heart. How can anybody dislike that?

  • This is such a lovely tale of learning to let go. Everything in this movie had a strong, beautiful meaning. In the midst of all his heart-break of losing his daughter (I presume), this little girl teaches him that he can love and let go. Just because there wasn't much speaking, the film really spoke out itself. This is defiantly going on my favorite movies.

It really does show what Life is all about.

  • @Konata101 did you just ruin the movie for me?

  • @amnesiaguess Nope, I only told you the very crust of the movie

    xD

  • Doesn't the paint style remind you of Professor layton?

It does remind me, really nice

  • @MsSinyou The main "actor" was an animated old man who was poor. Try a little harder when you spam.

  • It was good. Not as good as Triplets of Belleville, but the animation and artwork was still amazing as usual. The plot was a little lacking in my opinion... but still a good one! Very touching.

  • made me cry :(

  • ah it was made in dundee and edinburgh :D aweseome

  • im pretty sure someone from my art uni did this or had something to do with this, just noticed the scottish town there as well....hmmm

  • the ending is so sad! i cried :'(

  • I went from DragonForce to here. How the hell did that happen?!?

  • The animation ia making me swoon!

  • I was absolutely fascinated by this animated film.

  • Boring camera angles.

  • @ToiletStuff The "boring" camera angles give the story a delicate and simplistic touch. It's not some new fangled kiddie-driven computer generated 3D type of film that's supposed to be avant garde in anyway. The simplicity of the visuals give an even greater depth to the emotional punch of the storyline. It's graphic minimalism gives the viewer a sense of calmness and plays with their emotions, which is why I feel the visuals are so effective in telling the innocent yet deep storyline.

  • @LeiraZetroc Great opinion man! Here is another one, it looks really boring and stupid.

  • @heywhatsup65

You're stupid and boring. This is a freaking masterpiece and a beaftiful homage to animation. Bluth and Disney would be proud.

  • @heywhatsup65

You're stupid and boring. This is a freaking masterpiece and a beauftiful homage to animation. Bluth and Disney would be proud.

  • @LeiraZetroc i think its interesting and very heavy on the drama and the expressions...love those french looks. :D

  • pretty depressing film.

  • seriously.....does anybody not think this looks A LOT like a point and click game!?

    (broken sword comes to mind...)

amazing film though watch it !

  • @bragtheface It very much reminded me of old adventure games, especially Monkey Island 3..

  • Do people talk in the movie?

  • @Iloveherasmo Well....they do sometimes. But it's either very small words, like 'hi' or 'hello' or the person's name in English and in French. Mostly the story relies on the visuals, not the vocals. :)

  • in love with the music :)

  • I wondered about the way he walks, then I saw who wrote the screenplay. That joke never gets old.

  • thumbs up if absolutely nothing brought you here!

  • @lovetownsend youtube brought you here? =/

  • This trailer does not at all represent the film. It's not a jokey slapstick.

  • :)
