  • I really like Dave

  • dave a! only boneheaded move pj has ever made, getting rid of him. magnuson park, home of "the soundgarden"

  • plz come back to PJ!!!! I would give anything to see you in copenhagen this summer

  • I MISS DAVE.

  • I guess we can just be thankful he was around in Pearl Jam's best years and we can appreciate his style of drumming when listening to more recent records... Pearl Jam have been slowly dying since they fired him in my opinion. I understand they are older but there was something about Pearl jam in the early 90's, they were fierce and fearless, Dave was very much a part of that. Now, they're kind of like the rolling stones... Snore.

  • THIS IS THE REAL DRUMMER OF PJ.

    THIS! POINT THAT!!!

  • I rank Dave right up there with Neil Peart, Keith Moon and John Bonham.

  • who's the goober in the overall's that keeps getting behind him? haha

  • I loveeee Dave, but his voice annoysss me

  • That guy standing behind dave at the start was scary as shit

  • this dude is why there was a Pearl Jam EXPLOSION !!!!!

  • Thats my cousin right there^^ <3 I agree, best drummer ever.

  • wjhere in seattle was this?

  • Dave was the best PJ drummer, used the cymbals a lot, I loved it, after Dave left it went down for me.

  • Just shows how much of a beast Matt is, he is STILL drumming with PJ, while doing his "gardening" all over the US and recording a new album with his "gardening" pals. Just saying, Dave was a great drummer for PJ, and he was a harder hitter, like John Bonham, and don't get me wrong, there are some songs Id prefer to hear with Dave on drums, but Matt is excellent with PJ.

  • Nothing against cameron , but Dave beat the crap out of those drums like nobody !

  • He is so cute ^-^

  • pearl jam went downhill after letting dave a go

  • Did Vedder kick him out or what .. not sure what happened, someone let me know.

  • @blackcrow6667 Dave quit himself. Pearl Jam being such a success for him, he had enough money to join other groups and did just that.

  • ahhaha, he didnt quit man, where did u hear that? ahhaha...

  • @blackcrow6667 the guy who said he quit is crazy... he was fired... pitty.

  • @luiscurtolo Fired why? Was it Vedder?

  • @blackcrow6667 yea.. he had some kind of "personality" issues with vedder. They had different political views... Dave did "enjoyed" the fame PJ brought him, something that vedder didnt share, vedder wanted the band to always "lay low", but dave did like that rockstar feel. Dave was texan. And, Dave was starting to get more attentition than vedder (due to his jazzy funky skill and creativity) and that was kinda unacceptable. So there was always this wall between them, but it was something built

  • @luiscurtolo hi, thx for your message, YES "jazzy funky style" oh man I had this describtion always in my mind and thought if i say "jazzy" people wldn't get it. but yes its so true, his style is so breat and when u see that vid with camero over/behind him showing him drumming to Porch in 1992 (lollop tour i guess) THAT vid shows how super he was. plus he really has personality, looked very cool, Vedder is a genius singer, great attitude, but maybe felt competition in dave.

  • @blackcrow6667 by Vedder. Dave was like... ok, you know.. humble, simple, always smiling. Things got bad when Stone wasnt the "middle-man" in PJ. Ow, Dave also was the only band member to question Vedders atitudes on stage, and stuff like that... So the main reason was problems with Vedder yes. Personal, not drum wise problems, its known that vedder liked is drumming at that time... but he and Jeff didnt like Dave. Stone and mike were really ok... but, Ed is like, a dictactor in that band...

  • @blackcrow6667 ahahah, sorry to take this so long, bu there were stuffs like... dave came on the cover on DrummerWorld magazine... He was alone on the cover and Vedder always said that no member including himself, should appear alone... cuz they were a band right.. (fuck that, dave was the drummer)...

Then, childish Vedder like, fucked the cover, drew mustaches and stuf u normaly do in pictures in a magazine... and teared the cover...

And theres the story behing the music Glorified G, u know?

  • @luiscurtolo yeah i read all that in 5 against one.... i used to think of ed as a top guy but fuck now i think hes a dick! the footage of eddie from back then, i used to think he was mad cool, but after reading that book i look at said footage and think "nazi primadona".

  • @hutuguru81 which book??????

  • @SetMusicFree its called five against one by kim neely, is a top read except it delves a little to deeply into eddie's childhood which i find very creepy...

  • @luiscurtolo Okay, everyone knows there's a documentary coming out and I'm wondering if they will address the fact that Dave got kicked out of the band. I've read in one of the fan magazines Stone kind of apologizing for the fact of being the one to fire Dave and admitting to being a little too ambitious and cowtowing to what Eddie wanted in order to keep the machine running.

  • @tnn1 ye,,, i just hope that they mention him, and u know, recognize that he had a major play in the bands indentity... u know, juts be humble about it...

You know, I think that the "today" Vedder, would have this issue rightly solved it was to be settle like, today...

but i donno... pride forbids people to see the wrong things they done before, no matter how gifted they are.

    cheers. and rip amy.

  • @luiscurtolo I just watched the doc and I have to say I was disappointed at the way they handled the drummers. It was like a footnote and lasted about 5 seconds with Mike explaining all the drummers that were in the band. Total bullsh*t on Cameron Crowe, he could have interviewed Dave so he could get a chance to say his peace. I mean, they interviewed Chris Cornell like he was the sixth f*cking member of the band.

  • @tnn1 Cornell kind of is, I mean a certain band called TOTD comes to mind. Plus Cornell knew the guys from PJ a lot longer than Dave A and was more important in the founding of PJ than Dave A.

  • @artisthespoonman Okay,I will give you that for having Cornell interviewed, but it still doesn't take away from the fact that they diminished the importance of each drummer that was in the band by making it into a 5 second clip and not interviewing them and letting their side be told. I still call bullsh*t on Cameron Crowe.

  • @artisthespoonman foo fighters released a doco not long ago and they did interviews with all the former members.. dave a was without a doubt THE best drummer PJ ever had (not saying matt cameron isn't technically a good drummer) but eddie and co. threw him out in the cold and have never explained to anyone why, or give him the credit he deserved. it would've been nice if they at least gave him a quick interview.

  • @luiscurtolo you sure he was fired?? but WHY?? was he on drugs?? cant believe he had a different attitude compared to the other guys...

  • @SetMusicFree i wrote a lot about it in other coments is this same video. He never had problem with drugs. I mean problems like Mike would have late 95. 96... like serius problems. Theres a myth that he colapsed during alive in 1993, but it wasnt beacuse of drugs, was something about his throat that he, latter in 94, had a surgery to remove. it was never drugs.

he just didnt fit with young egocentric vedder, in sum.

i wrote a lot in this coments, search.

    cheers.

  • matt dillon's character in "singles" was clearly based on dave

  • Almost 20 years, my god... whyy!!

  • Matt Cameron is amazingly better than Dave!!!!

    Fact!!

  • @stifbandnz I don't know about all that. Dave fit the band for what they were doing in the early 90's and Matt came in when Pearl Jam started to mellow a little bit and molded his style to fit. They are both amazing it just depends on what part of the Pearl Jam catalog you prefer. I think the first 3 albums were the best and that was the Dave era. Though he wasn't around for the recording of Ten. Matt Cameron still can't reproduce Dave's drumming on "Spin the black circle" now that is fact.

  • @fenderjaguar1985 matt cant even reproduce the groove feel

  • @luiscurtolo yeah agree, dave had such a perfect groove and matts style is not so much flexibel, he was great with Soundgarden

  • @stifbandnz One correction I meant "WMA" not "Spin the black circle".

  • @stifbandnz theyre just diffrent. theyre both so great (i prefere dave)

  • @stifbandnz Yes. That is true. But who suits more for Pearl Jam? Dave! Let Dave join Pearl Jam and let Cameron do the "gardening".

  • @stifbandnz ahahahahhaa u dont understand music.

  • Hello to Lulu.

  • Hmm Marlboro Reds , I gave up smoking 3 years ago , I miss the reds...

Pearl jam sounded shite after dave left..

  • @needley that's weird that dave smoked. he said he had asthma, and didn't want jeff's insense burning during the shows, but he smokes red apples?

  • ok, true... he still is very sexy now... but here he was so young and fresh and he had that spark of youth... now the "sexyness" is more mature and experienced...

  • Sexy back then..? Still Very Sexy NOW..!!!

  • Great drummer... he was damn sexy back then...

  • the guy in the overalls is such a creepy attention whore :P

  • drumer083 Dave liked to be in concerts and be famous but Pearl Jam was content to play small gigs, it did not like Dave and held discussions with the band until being fired from Pearl Jam.

  • @crisoliver98 wrong. paste this into the youtube search engine. :D -- >

Pearl Jam - The Saga #3 - Stone Gossard fires Dave Abbruzzese - Pearl Jam

  • Comment removed

  • does he have a lip in?

  • why was he fired from PJ??? one of the best pj ever had

  • @drumer083 he and eddie had differences. eddie kinda wanted to change the sound of the music and dave disagreed.

  • I love that guy, the best drummer for Pearl Jam ever, but here he was so fucking young, looks like a kid :P

  • Best Drummer Eveeeeeeeeeeeeeerr I LOVE UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • dave is the defiition of italian

  • since matt is back with soundgarden i hope dave comes back for a tour of somekind.

  • @sonamhf lol i don't think that would ever happen

  • I wonder if someday we'll see Dave on Pearl Jam again

  • @Iktius

    no chance.

  • The overalls dude with the white nose! hahahaa

  • this guys look hasnt really changed much except hes put on a few extra pounds over the years but not too much this is back when mtv was good

  • lol the overall guy

  • he has the ultimate look of confusion at the beginning :D

  • Comment removed

  • lol that guy in the overalls

  • I boycotted PJ for a long time when they got rid of Dave...He was and will always be there best drummer !

  • @ecodirtrider

that seems really ignorant. the band, including the drums improved massively with jack irons. dave also always seemed a little to dumb to be in the band.

  • @fydiousmckormick nope and nope.

  • Dave is such a cutie, I can't believe this was 18 years ago =O

  • Best drummer Pearl Jam ever had. When Dave went away, so did the killer drums...

  • @beensaidrecords indeed

  • @beensaidrecords I agree 100%

  • @beensaidrecords Matt Cameron is way better.

  • @bigchief70 Matt Cameron came from the remains of Soundgarden. Dave Abbruzzese complemented Pearl Jam perfectly after Dave Krusen left. Matt was definitely a welcome replacement for the mediocre skills of Jack Irons. Comparing Dave Abbruzzese to Matt is like comparing apples to oranges, they both are Great drummers. Matt was awesome on Temple of the Dog as well.

  • @beensaidrecords why do you find jack irons mediocre?

  • @Shishimu He always sounds like he's struggling to keep up and sometimes sounds like he's rushing the beat. That and his idea of an innovative fills are far and few in between. Dave's playing was so fluid/snappy and played the instrument with ease. If you watch video of Dave playing Daughter and then Jack playing any other of their songs you might get an idea of what I'm referring to.

  • @beensaidrecords i agree with you, but even so, i like jack irons's(?) drumming, i think he, even not being that competent, he has some great ideas. as for dave, i think he was great, and for me he has the style that i like the most, of all their drummers.

  • @Shishimu Right on, : )

  • @beensaidrecords I do agree

  • Dave is one of the kindest and crazy guy I've evet met! he's so nice with his fans and always smiling

  • u met eddie?

  • That guy in the overalls is slightly creepy

  • lol'z

    yes, yes he is D:
