  • Many Thanks for The Post !!

  • The nice sound of the CHIC Organization:))

  • God ! 30 years after, i HAVE to buy this album ! I love her! so beautiful

  • niles is the BESSTTT!

  • That's great classic, Disco is awesome, and will live forever!

  • 'Nile (Rogers) and 'Nard (Edwards) are Arguably, the most underrated production team of all time.

  • Arguably the finest, but come on... they are hardly underrated, their genius is pretty widely acknowledged.

  • During the summer 79, Sheila on vacation at Saint-Tropez received the demo tape of her first true American collaborators. (Before that the S.B. Devotion was purely a Parisian affair... with the usual team at songwriting or recording.)

She isolated herself in the big Jeep she had just been offered there to listen to what was to be Spacer and... decided the key was too low.

What's funny is that Nile Rodgers then replied to her producer that he most dislike her singing in the high keys...

  • So it is funny because with this "Don't Go" song it is her high climb in the treebles that really boost excitement...

While her voice is not so well geared for these thin preciosities.. (she's more middle-keyed, large and powerfull.)

The recording of her singing for both Spacer and Don't Go was a 1-1/2 hour affair, upon ready tapes... Then jump back into Concorde the very evening to France and extra promo and work... That's, Disco fashion man !

  • In 1979 CHIC's Nile Rodgers & (RIP) Bernard Edwards choosed to produce not very worldwide known singers as Sheila or Sister Sledge.

Just to prove they can make stars with unknown singers.

So the same year they refused to produced... The Rolling Stones !

6 years later Nile Rodgers has produced the first Mick Jagger solo LP.

  • apparently David Bowie wanted to work with Chic after he heard the album - they made Let's Dance album in 1983!

Forgive me if someone has already posted this.

  • did DAvid Bowie Do "LET'S DANCE" With the producers of CHIC? that track was hot I used to hear it all the time on radio.........

  • Yes he did indeed, they did the whole album Let's Dance, which also had singles Modern Love and China Girl. Debbie Harry also did her 1st solo album, Koo Koo, with them! And then Nile Rodgers of Chic produced Madonna's Like A Virgin album.

  • I forgot about that, she had that funky track "BACKFIRED" that has that signature Nile Rodgers and Bernard Edwards style to the guitars!!!!! I have that album "JUMP" JUMP"

  • Now that last one "Like a Virgin" i had not a clue but she had Holliday on that album, now that was like Nile Rodgers style of guitar and Lucky Star but isn't that the previous album before LIKE A VIRGIN???

  • Like A Virgin didn't have Holiday, it was on the one before... but it did have Material Girl, Angel, Dress You Up, Pretender etc

Also check out the 2 Sister Sledge Lps with Chic, look up Pretty Baby by Sister Sledge... it's awesome but flopped!!!

  • I couldn't find Pretty Baby by Sister Sledge posted on YouTube...could you post please?

  • Also have u seen the Sheila Spacer video???

  • Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers. Powerhouse musicians. Talented writers. Great melodies. Can't they ever be compare? I think not.

  • They were the JIMMY JAM & TERRY LEWIS of the 70s, they FUNKED UP EVERYTHING and I loved it!!!!!!! YES! never heard this track, its HOT!!!!

  • This is new to me,love it,thanks for posting.

  • I've always ADORED this track!Did ya notice the guitar moment at 2:56 is exactly the same than the "Holiday" one Madonna sang during her "Who's that girl Tour"?

  • Hey Tibbsy, I remember playing this a lot from the reverse side of Spacer! good tune, especially as its CHIC tune.

  • I think some people found Chic tracks repetitive but it is this repetitiveness that I liked.

It is memorising/hypnotising at the very least this is a prime example, and they were not shy about it, i'm not sure everyone gets that important trade mark.

  • Hi Tibbsy, Great song, great album. Edwards and Rodgers may never get the credit they deserve. S&BD were a favorite of mine back in 1980, that's the year I graduated from high school. I've looked for years in stores for this album. Please post "Cover Girls" off this album.

    THANKS!!!

  • Here it is. A special tasteful presentation of the song, using the luxury 2006 re-edit (hear Nile and Bernard or Tony chat before to start ! ), worked out by some professionals, web friends..

See my page, of simply search YT with "Sheila 80 - Cover Girls". Posted yesterday.

    Enjoy.

  • @TIBBSY I remember this being on the other side of Spacer. Thanks for uploading this classic and the reviews you have included from magazines at the time. Cheers

  • Thanks for another great post. I would be very grateful if you could post 'Cover Girls' from this album.

  • Cracking song, Bernard Edwards Bass is awesome as usual. We owe Chic an great deal they made some of the best songs of the past 30 years.

  • una excelente cancion para la hora de hacer el amor ya lo hice y tiene un ritmo excelente..................

  • this week i found this song and i cant believe

its the same singer from SPACER. just when i though i would never hear it again. it was next to SHEILA all this time. thank you so.

  • The only non American CHIC Organization production. The first more rock pop oriented CHIC prod.

Sheila is still good looking and continues to sing the gemms CHIC composed for her.
