Also, at the county-level, if its found that a particular county or region has lots or Persian-speaking people (think Tehrangeles area), then there could be a county-wide mandate that there be Persian-speaking nurses at the local hospitals and Persian-speaking 911 operators. None of this will happen if we are not considered a sizable minority.

@tuneesq: If Iranians living in America were found to be in the millions, then there is a potential that we could file for 'minority status,' which would give us many specific benefits. For example, The Small Business Administration currently gives special loans to small businesses run by a minority group. We could get some of those good loans.

Can somebody please list for me EXACTLY what's to gain from being recognized as a minority group in the "access to opportunities, funding for programs, language services, in schools and county hospitals, in courts, when calling 911" and the "everything to gain" part. This sounds nice and I'm not poo-pooing it, but I have yet to see specific. . . SPECIFIC reasons why? Please help.
