I don't know the difference between college and university but I sympathize I'm on my second university degree. But on a lighter point. What is up with the Aussie love? Seriously our accents can't be that sexy, but from all my friends who have gone to the US apparently it is?
Hmm, interesting point. I earned a graduate degree while working full time. No, it was not easy. I remember a human resources manager commenting that continuing education is something like taking a valium. It's a crutch. It allows one to believe they are working on their ticket to bigger and better things and helps them cope with a nasty situation. But then, she didn't want people to move on. As for the Aussie thing, yes it's true. It's not the accent, it's more of the attitude. (cont. above)
Australians unlike lots of Europeans have no pretense. They're open and accepting. Add to that a general hygiene frequently missing in Europeans, and we can't get enough. Been to London? Is dentistry a crime there? Bathing ? I had a professor, German by birth who said Americans used to be like Australians, but we're losing that sort of easy going casual lifestyle. He may have been right, and that may explain the fascination. It's narcissism. We see a bit of what we've lost in you.
