Your voice sounds cute...kawaii!!!!!!!!!!!!! This vid motivated me to sing the Japanese version of Piri-tan's Marukaite Chikyuu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay! :) :) :)
''I shall return'' it was from one of does filipino dramas but after researching it was really General McArthur who said it during the Pacific war >w<.
I really enjowed this. I'm happy you made a fan dub of this. I was sort of disappointed that the Philippines didn't show up as a background character for the WW2 bit of hetalia.
Lol, sorry to point out another fail, but the "I shall return" part is different from the "I'll be back" part in the Terminator. U.S. General MacArthur actually promised "I shall return" to the Philippines when the Japanese kicked the U.S. out in 1942. ^^;
@NanatsuYoruXIII Dude, know your history (this comment is a bit embarrassing, even as a joke. XD). That was a quote by Gen. McArthur when the Americans retreated after Japan captured the Philippines. It's a quote known by everyone aware of the history of the Pacific war in WW2.
@r3ginasimon no he was meaning about the quotation bubble pointing at Japan that makes it look a bit funny.
I mean who wouldn't laugh at the fact that the quotation bubble coincidentally pointed at Japan with the words "I shall Return" the Irony really you would think "lol, that should be America at Japan's place"
Hehe awesome ^-^ Glad to hear other fandubs such as yours. I have to say Its quite nice hearing you sing and as the others say Im proud to be a FILLIPINO ! hoooray :V
. May I ask a question? Can you give me the link to that picture or where you have found it >.< sorry if Im causing a bit of trouble.
Ugh, I wish my mom had taught us Tagalog when we were kids. It sounds like FUN to talk in Tagalog XD Even if I couldn't understand I really liked it! I'll have to get my Onee-chama to translate it for me later.
And I realy hope the Philippines is a girl, it just seems better that way to me, plus, one of the first presidents was a woman I believe...
@shikamarusgirl17 Ha-ha! This only makes me want to NOT do a Japanese version more (since there are already "others" who did it). Again, my purpose for fandubs... if the piece you're working on is already not the original, why make it more unoriginal by doing the same thing other people are doing. I say make your own creative unique spin. If I wanted to see something similar to the original, I would prefer to watch the original.
... it would be incredible if this became canon. because
-i've almost always imagined the Philippines to be a girl (it's called *Las Filipinas* which would make it a feminine noun in Spanish and... eh actually there's no reason XD)
-you did extremely well w/ the lyrics and making them fit w/ the song
-"I SHALL RETURN"
-Mabuhay ang Filipinas! (i'm not a fluent speaker so this probably isn't correct...)
Best fandub I've heard!! :D I actually "accidentally" memorize the "Si papa Espana nakikipag-inuman..." part... and I was laughing to tidbits after that XDD
Best version ever. You sing so great ate~ (BTW, I wish the cover would have been a fan-made Philippines at least since, you were singing about her XD) Other than that, wonderful... and your Filipino is marvelous~ (I'm not into too deep tagalog... just the usual one)
I hope to see more from you and to see a Philippines in APH!
LOL! You should just sing it in Japanese since other countries sang it in Japanese too. As far as what I've heard, I don't have any complains with the food (yeah, the longganisa) and the wine.. LOL, I think .. :))
"Mukashi ni tabeta, Longganisa no (LMAO)
ano aji ga wasurerarenainda.."
Hmm, whatever! Im still hoping for an official Philippine Marukaite Chikyuu....
@helloneesancute No thank you! I'm proud of the Filipino language (even though I can just speak colloquial Filipino). ^__^. Besides some of the jokes in the song will get lost in translation.
I asked about this in one of the forums. Someone debunked it, stating that in Himaruya's blog he said that the maid in Ep. 1 is human (not a country). Of course, the chibi sketch in the maid costume is still speculation.

full name ni philippines is Maria Clara (then family name ni Spain) Philippines is a girl and philippines was in world con @ APH ep 1 she was the maid and she is beside spain serving him a drink. too bad she wasn't labeled her name bka daw mglit ang mga filipino sa position nya doon (maid) according to hirumaya, he did it that way for we have been colonized be spain and he expressed it that way. (this is all according to hirumaya hidekaz) thats all for our beloved Philippines news in APH
COOL! I always wanted to sing a Philippines version of this song (but I have an accent which makes it hard for me) -_-''' Cool translation though! xDD
I'd hate to be a doucher douchington, but the original ending(s) are sung in japanese with horiffic stereotypes of other countries... try singing it in russian next time.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i don't understand the beginning lyric, why would the filipino ask for wine? isn't the stereotype coconut milk? and then... all of the endings are still supposed to be sung in japanese... why did you sing in tagalog(?)
I sang in tagalog because this is a Filipino Fandub (not a Japanese Fandub) and Filipinos are also notorious alcoholics since we were under Spain's care for more than 300 years. Though maybe I should have said tuba (a local Filipino coconut wine) instead of plain wine...
hahaha pare, sana lambanog ginamit mo! as one filipino story goes, "Us filipinos are mild drinkers: we drink when we're happy, we drink when we're sad, and we drink for every other occassions" :)
i srsly can't imagine Spain as philippines' dad or america as the big brother....I mean, Filipinos were enslaved by spaniards and america sort of just moved in cause it was a good outpost near japan...
Hmmm... in the POV of the conquered, it's not the same. The Philippines was a Spanish colony for 300 years. While there was always a strong yearning for freedom, 300 years is a very long time to exert influence. Except for Mindanao (which Spain was unsuccessful in colonizing), the Philippines shares a lot of Spanish/European values and beliefs. Eventhough Catholicism is the "brand" that identifies our slavery, Filipinos cling on to it with great pride.
It's undeniable that Filipino mentality (both good and bad traits) are greatly influenced by Spain.
When Spain lost its war with America, the Philippines was on of the countries sold to America and it became a "protectorate" (American Imperialism-ism for "colony" or "spoil of war") and launched a very successful propaganda movement to make Filipinos believe in the greatness of the US of A.
I know a lot of Filipinos who still worship the ground that Americans walk on and would even deny the atrocities that the Americans did to Filipinos during the short lived Philippine-American War (nicknamed by modern American scholars as "The First Vietnam") happened.
The Philippines was taken by America, not just because of its location in the map, but like the Span, pillaged natural resources and used us as a one of their third world consumers.
The social illness that Michael Moore described in "Capitalism" was not just within American borders. For example, during the Marcos Administration... a great number of American companies benefited from Marcos' ill-gotten wealth.
Of course, the irony of ironies... that in WW2, even though Japan was so horrible to us (they they were awful! There was no denying that!), they were the only conqueror who did not impose their culture on the Philippines like Spain and the US did.
Even though it was really an attempt to erase western ideals in the Philippine mentality, Japan's encouragement to return to our roots sparked a great sense of patriotic identity. And in fact, WW2 Philippines under the Japanese rule was considered as "The Golden Age of Philippine Arts and Literature".
XD oohhh theres another irony, I actually like japanese culture and to hear that japan didn't impose their culture on the Philippines makes me feel somewhat...ehh. Yung parang, "Ay! Sayang naman!" gets mo? weird I know. so once again XD
Ha-ha! You also have to realize that today's mentality was different from WW2. Back when my best friend and I were heavily into anime back in school... when her dad found out about it, he was furious! His reasoning was, "Bakit ka nanonood niyan? Hindi mo ba alam kung ano ang ginawa ng mga demonyong Hapon na yan sa Lolo mo?"
Here's the greatest irony of all... My best friend, later on married a 3rd-Generation Japanese-Canadian. ^_^.
Yeah, *nods* I get what you're saying. My mom (XD american spelling) born and bred in Philippines think that America has everything and that they're awesome. Practically the only reason she wants to go live there, I believe.
I, unfortunately, have to agree with your last sentence. Although, I'm hoping that sometime in the future, it won't always be like that. I mean, it's not that I have something against catholics; it's just almost all Filipinos seem to be of the christian faith and when asked or challenged (purely out of curiosity to own questions) they seem to get defensive. At least, those I've been in contact with. AKA family.
Again, it's the influence of heavily ingrained Spanish colonialism. Our ancestors were made to blindly believe in Catholicism to the point that there really was no other way of life. We were also taught to not question it because our soul will burn in hell as a non-believer. I'm lucky that my parents are liberal. I think if I grew up in the Philippines and not in Canada, I would have that same mentality. My grandmother continues to pray for my soul though...
I consider myself fortunate and unfortunate at the same time, being a Filipino-Canadian. Fortunate because my Filipino background makes me feel rich in my heritage... unfortunate, because I do find myself battling against the traditional values my parents tried to raise me in because my Canadian side/thinking can't reconcile with it. I still think I'm Filipino... but I feel sad and frustrated sometimes that I can't relate to my Filipino-ness...
Wonderful interpretation. You really ARE Philippines ! My favorites parts are "Gumuhit ng bilog, at 'yan ang mundo" and the talking part (I shall return lol). The Philippines must be a marvelous country. Au revoir !
Gotta give ya credit, this was surprisingly done so well!! ^^ You got a bonus for including the history, that way the country will be more well-known. Very well done! :)

I'd hate to be a doucher douchington, but the original ending(s) are sung in japanese with horiffic stereotypes of other countries... try singing it in russian next time.
chica476 2 years ago
Why would I want to sing it in Russian? I'm Filipino. And the stuff mentioned in the lyrics are Filipino stereotypes with a touch of truth.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
i don't understand the beginning lyric, why would the filipino ask for wine? isn't the stereotype coconut milk? and then... all of the endings are still supposed to be sung in japanese... why did you sing in tagalog(?)
chica476 2 years ago
I sang in tagalog because this is a Filipino Fandub (not a Japanese Fandub) and Filipinos are also notorious alcoholics since we were under Spain's care for more than 300 years. Though maybe I should have said tuba (a local Filipino coconut wine) instead of plain wine...

hahaha pare, sana lambanog ginamit mo! as one filipino story goes, "Us filipinos are mild drinkers: we drink when we're happy, we drink when we're sad, and we drink for every other occassions" :)

i srsly can't imagine Spain as philippines' dad or america as the big brother....I mean, Filipinos were enslaved by spaniards and america sort of just moved in cause it was a good outpost near japan...
auran5 2 years ago
Hmmm... in the POV of the conquered, it's not the same. Eventhough Catholicism is the "brand" that identifies our slavery, Filipinos cling on to it with great pride.
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
It's undeniable that Filipino mentality (both good and bad traits) are greatly influenced by Spain.
When Spain lost its war with America, the Philippines was on of the countries sold to America and it became a "protectorate" (American Imperialism-ism for "colony" or "spoil of war") and launched a very successful propaganda movement to make Filipinos believe in the greatness of the US of A.
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
I know a lot of Filipinos who still worship the ground that Americans walk on and would even deny the atrocities that the Americans did to Filipinos during the short lived Philippine-American War (nicknamed by modern American scholars as "The First Vietnam") happened.
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
The Philippines was taken by America, not just because of its location in the map, but like the Span, pillaged natural resources and used us as a one of their third world consumers.
The social illness that Michael Moore described in "Capitalism" was not just within American borders. For example, during the Marcos Administration... a great number of American companies benefited from Marcos' ill-gotten wealth.

Of course, the irony of ironies... that in WW2, even though Japan was so horrible to us (they they were awful! There was no denying that!), they were the only conqueror who did not impose their culture on the Philippines like Spain and the US did.
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
Even though it was really an attempt to erase western ideals in the Philippine mentality, Japan's encouragement to return to our roots sparked a great sense of patriotic identity. And in fact, WW2 Philippines under the Japanese rule was considered as "The Golden Age of Philippine Arts and Literature".
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
XD oohhh theres another irony, I actually like japanese culture and to hear that japan didn't impose their culture on the Philippines makes me feel somewhat...ehh. Yung parang, "Ay! Sayang naman!" gets mo? weird I know. so once again XD
auran5 2 years ago

Practically the only reason she wants to go live there, I believe.
auran5 2 years ago
I, unfortunately, have to agree with your last sentence. Although, I'm hoping that sometime in the future, it won't always be like that. I mean, it's not that I have something against catholics; it's just almost all Filipinos seem to be of the christian faith and when asked or challenged (purely out of curiosity to own questions) they seem to get defensive. At least, those I've been in contact with. AKA family.
auran5 2 years ago
Again, it's the influence of heavily ingrained Spanish colonialism. Our ancestors were made to blindly believe in Catholicism to the point that there really was no other way of life. We were also taught to not question it because our soul will burn in hell as a non-believer. I'm lucky that my parents are liberal. I think if I grew up in the Philippines and not in Canada, I would have that same mentality. My grandmother continues to pray for my soul though...
r3ginasimon 2 years ago
I consider myself fortunate and unfortunate at the same time, being a Filipino-Canadian. Fortunate because my Filipino background makes me feel rich in my heritage... unfortunate, because I do find myself battling against the traditional values my parents tried to raise me in because my Canadian side/thinking can't reconcile with it. I still think I'm Filipino... but I feel sad and frustrated sometimes that I can't relate to my Filipino-ness...
