  • I'm a bit disappointed by Americans being all about the eco boost. It's just turbocharged engine with variable camshaft timing. The problem is, American cars were perfect - robust, reliable, with higher consumption, because of the great reliability. This eco boost just adds more electronics to the engine and makes it more complicated. I'm european, I drive E90 BMW and I know what I'm talking about. Simplicity and reliability were things I liked on american cars.

  • Go Chevy!

  • video and sound are off by about 1-2 seconds

  • My Flex sucks MAJOR gas if you are sitting/idling, esp with AC on. That was the most surprising gas use for the vehicle.

  • get the awd ecoboost or not my family has the standard limited and that thing gets off the line fast

  • i drove one of these and put the pedal to the metal and it went nowere near as fast as this that thing was so slow,.

  • Flex rules I get 18 under less then efficent driving that 80% city.

  • Is it good to always drive my Ford Flex hard like in the video, I lease them so I don't care about repairs.

  • thats crazy fast v6 alone, cant imagine the ecoboost addition

  • I have a 2010 flex and I was wondering how are you getting 23.4 mpg , I am only getting 19.4 and I am not putting my foot in it. Any help is appreciated...

  • @InUrGirlPockets It's all about when, where and how you drive. Light-footing is part of it, but it's also important to maximize inertia. Driving in stop-and-go traffic will always take its toll on fuel-efficiency in a conventional (non-hybrid) car. Highway speeds have a big effect, too. We test at an average of 68 MPH on the highway ... going faster is likely to lower the MPG figures and attract the attention of the law. Our highway speed limits top out at 65 MPH around these parts. :/

  • This car is faster than what I drive. And has far more room.

  • I like what they did with the gauges; they have that 60's cobra look to them.

  • like the 2nd-3rd gear shift.

  • Is the tach response that slow? or is it just the video?

  • @mykatamari most of mpgomatic's vids have lag in them... if the tach was that unresponsive, it'd be a MAJOR problem lol :)

  • @TexasGunslinger9 Aye, there's a group of early 0-60s that were lagged. One day when I have time to spare, I'll tag all the laggards.

  • @mpgomatic cool

  • shit that's not bad at all..Ford's getting back in the game!

  • Yeah, I rented a Flex for about a week earlier this year, and it was nice. One car I actually like a lot, is the Buick Lacrosse, and I am not a Buick guy at all (I'm not over the age of 50). The interior is pretty incredible. Road noise is low. It has a luxury look for about half the price. Looks like Lincoln and Buick are trying a bit for the younger crowd.

  • i wasnt really a ford guy, till the flex came out ;) now i absolutely love fords

  • I like buicks!

  • I got a 7.55 second 0-60 on this one.

  • Ford Flex is a beast. Love this ride so much!!

  • Wow, never thought that car would sound so good, Ford makes their V6 sound like a V8.

  • kind of hard to tell the 60mph mark from the angle, I feel like I'm hitting 60 at 50mph because of the offset. I get around 8 seconds. That about correct for these Flexs?

  • @Lindsey7638 Yes, around 8 seconds is normal.

  • 0-60: 7.8 sec

  • I love that cluster!!

  • I wonder what the EcoBoost is like.

  • @banstaman Its AWSOME!!!

  • wow, how does it manage to sound like a v8

  • it doesnt.

  • it sounds nothing like a v8

  • These are moovers for being so big

I worked for a ford dealer and they pull like a raped ape

    mad power

I want a 3.5L to replace my 3.0Lduratec and i wont need a turbo for my milan but ecoboost is badass

  • ya my 07 mkz fwd gets to 60 in about 6.2 sec if it can find traction as soon as you get close to 300hp fwd is pointless because it cant find traction

  • yaya. the tak is a little slow...

  • @Angarsk1991 yea thats what i thought to,but it looks cool tho

  • ive got one handles better then you think sounds way better then on the computer and spins the tires really easy lol great car i love the sony speakers and looks and how you become a part of a flex community and you wave when you see another funner then it sounds

  • i got about 7-8 seconds 0-60 man this car is quick

  • I cant be bothered to time it but it looks pretty quick....wonder how it handles??

  • rpm odemeter is slow

  • What do you mean??

  • like the sound of the engine shifting is off....the engine is at high rpm then you hear the engine low down but the rpm is still in the high area....maybe its the video camra. idk

  • i also, think that the flex is better looking and it is bigger

  • thats fast... looked like 5.8-6.2ish

  • not bad, faster than the transverse

  • also in 2010, Flex will have a EcoBoost engine will be lot faster than transverse.

  • Nice tiny speedometer!

  • Hey Dan, looking forward to reviewing the ecoboost Flex?

  • the tach gauge is off when it shifts

  • The tach isn't off. The Audio/video sync is off. If you watch some of his others they are like that too. I guess the camera somehow messes up the sync.

  • oh i did not no that

  • Strange watching this one after all the GM ones with 7krpm shift points.

  • I just bought a 2010 flex today, and i love it so far.

  • i got a 2010 flex 5 weeks agao i like it just a few small problems (the d pillar was scratched when i got it and the crome trim under the windo doesnt fight perfictly) but i still love and looking at it what model do you have and how do you like it i have a fwd sel with out ecoboost

  • Is your have EcoBoost??

  • In this video, Does this car have EcoBoost?? or Standard V6?

  • Standard V6.

  • Wow, that pretty fast for Standard V6, So with EcoBoost will be lot faster, right?

  • the reason the transmission shifts like that is because it is the 6f35 transmission. these cars are not meant for balls the wall performance. ford doesnt do that because they know its not the biggest market out there with the way the economy is. the transmission is meant to be ass smooth as possible of a shift. that 6f35 and the 6f50 in the explorers are meant for comfort. now obviously they make the mustang and gt and any other performance vehicle, but those are meant for that not a damn flex

  • It has the ecoboost now for the 2010 flex.

  • Not the fastest but Definitely not the slowest.

  • i have one it rules if you need 7 seets the flex is the best out there

  • why?

  • its not consistant with the engine they need to refine their tranny.

  • rpm needle is a bit off from the rpm noise coz the noise goes down but the needle still goes up

  • 6 and a half sec?

  • its way farther than 6.5 secs.....

  • 7.5

  • IT's a weird angle, but I'll say roughly 7.5-8 seconds.

  • looks like it hauls pretty good.

  • those instruments lok classy

  • that tach is weird...

  • how so

  • That tach looks pretty sloppy! it has a huge delay...

  • The delay isn't the tach, it's youtube. Audio and video sometimes get messed up on here.

  • Oh for real? My first though was the tach. good to know!

  • The Audio video sync is off on some of his videos, he's gotten it mostly fixed now

  • if i got that right its about 8 sec right?

  • faster than i expected

  • THis actually surprised me. Nice.

  • I have to say, this vehicle accelerates much faster than one might expect.

  • Wow it pretty fast for SUV.

Also I know it get good gas too.

  • wow thats fast for a big suv

  • Like to see what the Ecoboost 3.5 with the 6F55 trans will do in performance and fuel economy.

  • Wow you are really a dumbass arent you? I bet your one of those people who think Toyota and honda are the only cars that get good gas milage. The fusion hybrid can manage at least 40mpg, the focus gets over 35mpg, the Mustang V6 gets 28mpg, the GT version somewhere around 22 ish... you saying these are bad numbers? Even the Expedition I drive gets decent mileage for such a huge, older car. (13 city/18highway) with the 4.6L V8 in our 2003 Expedition.

  • Oh shut up. If you read what I said, I said for SUCH A BIG VEHICLE its not that bad. And I know for a fact all the Audis, BMWs, Opels etc are NOT getting over 60mpg so stop lying and pulling that shit outta your ass. And alot of americans didnt/dont buy SUVs because they wanted to be "big time" they have big families, and travel, and need the room. not to mention its nice having that room when you need it. How is it being greedy exactly? I can say that BMW owners are greedy. expensive cars

  • Comment removed

  • I don't have anything against BMWs, I said that as an example, ( ie- disclaimer, that was a sarcastic comment). I never said BMWs are bad, just not getting 60MPG across the entire lineup. But the point remains, people dont NEED to spend upwards of $50k for a nice car. The 2010 Ford Fusion is an excellent car, and well equipped, is in the mid 20s! Stop being anti-american, your arguments don't hold water.

  • @rudolphna54 Don't generalize people. Not all BMW owners are greedy. I have one, I love it, but i'm not greedy. I'm just good at saving my money and not blowing it like the average person does.

  • What's the problem with people buying large vehicles to haul people/stuff even if it's only occasionally? That's called FREEDOM, why ridicule people just because they make a different choice than you? I drive a supercharged 3.8 Buick that gets 30mpg on the highway, so bigger engine doesn't necessarily equate to bad mpg.

  • woow woow woow, first of all, cars in germany are the most tiny cars ever!!! i mean i could fit one of ur cars in my pocket... secondly, 18 mpg is acually great for an suv that size with that big of an engine. My lincoln aviator is half the size and it gets about 22 mpg on highway when im doin bout 60ish, u dont know what da hell ur talkin bout bitch!!!!!!

  • Wow, really? Thats the best you could come up with? "STFU you fat american"? Wow, for one thing, I'm not fat. Second of all, I'm sorry, but that isn't a good response to any of my points. It just shows your ignorance, and you have no good comeback to my argument, so just go troll somewhere else.

  • So your telling me a bmw x5 gets 60 mpg?

  • No, it certainly does not. But there new diesel model 3 series get 36 mpg highway. This is much better than many of the ford models.

  • I pulled down forty-odd MPG highway in the 335d, with a 0-60 of 6 seconds. That car is a BEAST. :)

  • for a 6000 lb suv, 18 is not bad at all.

  • @MoxleyMauser With Ford, it's about how you drive them. I have an old Ford Taurus Wagon, a big car but not huge, and not making very much power, yet we were averaging 11L/100km (21MPG) in normal driving (which after owning a diesel smart car seems retarded). Despite being almost 4000 pounds with what we had in it, 11 years old, and almost 300000kms, the other day I achieved 7.5L/100km (31 MPG). Our smart car, however averaged 4L/100km or 60MPG.

  • Man, regular cars are getting surprisingly fast the past few years.

  • hah you got that right.. and you see the magazines complaining... OH it feels really sluggish ONLY gets to 60mph in like 8.9 seconds. Think 20 years ago when the retarded cars of the " fuel crisis " barely made 130 horsepower. 13 seconds was considered pretty good lol :P just as an example.

  • A 9 second 0-60 is like... its quick, but enough to get out into traffic or merge on a interstate off an exit ramp, and good enough for passing. But not in any way a fast car. Even the Civic is getting pretty dang quick these days with a 7 point something 0-60 time. New Camaro base v6 is coming with just over 300hp, and they say its 0-60 will be under 6 seconds. I'v only driven a few cars built a couple decades ago, they were defenately underpowered.

  • Chevy is going with the Same engine that the Cadillac Cts has 3.6 Direct injection 306hp

  • theirs a 0-80mph video of one up here somwhere if you search. only its the awd version of the CTS. I expect the camaro v6 would be a bit quicker since its a little bit lighter and only being rwd.

  • Yeah it should. What about any V8's what V8 are they gonna put in it..

  • 6.2 422hp LS3. Though if its the exact engine as used in the Corvettes, its actually rated at 430hp.

  • i thought they would use the 6.0V8 like in the Pontiac G8. It out runs the Charger Rt. beats its 0-60..They might use the 6.0V8 in like a Base V8 model. and use the 6.2V8 that the GXP G8 has too... I dont know they will prob use the same power setup as the G8 i BEt with the 3engines.

  • Its coming with two different 6.2 LS3's. One of them is the regular LS3, but the other one is being called the L99 coming with the 6 speed auto, it has active fuel managment while the regular LS3 doesn't. They show different HP ratings between the two, but GM tends to under-rate the power output of an engine in something other than the Vette so they could be the same 430hp LS3.

  • it would be good if they had the 6.0v8 for fuel eco..

  • It wouldn't make any difference in fuel consumption. If you look around on Corvette forums and such. A huge number of Vette owners with the LS1 to LS3 v8's have gotten 30+mpg pretty easy on the highway and average in the low 20's. Car engines are getting more efficient, even the big cubed v8's are but most cars are getting heavier and that takes away from the possible increase in fuel economy. Put that same LS3 vette engine in a truck or SUV and it will struggle to average anymore than 15mpg.

  • Yeah i know. my uncle has a new sierra with the 6.2 in it.. he gets like 16 on the hwy if hes lucky.

  • too much unneeded power. need more mpg

  • less power does not necessarily mean more MPG. most people would rather have some punch, especially for merging on the highway. A wimpy 1.6L 4 cylinder wouldnt cut it in a vehicle this size. It gets good gas mileage with the V6.

  • hahaha! you got ford flex too! nice

  • show one when you go top speed
