  • they did have it jacked if you look at clip 1:04 you can see the jacks

  • from watching how they handled this I would NOT hire them to do ANYTHING ! some of the things they did are downright scary and dangerous...

  • I agree with cuttingman423. One would NEVER allow the floor joist/ceiling joists/rafters to deviate in any way whatsoever while building a new support wall. And, what Captain1234ish said about the jumping around is very distracting. Josh is a fun and witty guy. But, he needs to take it slow and not hurry over such important and what could easily become a major devastation.

Does anyone know of a site that offers detailed instructions on this subject and any other DIY projects....?

  • why would you allow the floor joists to drop you are asking for problems

  • What MBMKruger said! I want to see this and the jumping around makes it almost impossible to see the detail. I appreciate the intent but ya gotta know who your audience is and how people learn. Otherwise what's the point?

  • The quick-cuts and jazzed up video detract from showing what's really going on. Good construction filming does away with the BS and shows long, detailed shots so the DIY viewer can actually follow along. What's the point of having a DIY show if the editing is so damn distracting that it makes no sense?

  • looks like that house is about 30' deep and that beam is in the center spanning about 16'... 2 2x10s nailed together are going to suppport the weight of the second floor? yeah, itll work.. not to code tho, it will eventually bow... also, directly under your sill plates are your plywood and floor joists, not the foundation, so you do need to fill the void between the plywood and the foundation.. anybody on these shows understand anything about engineering? Thats1 good thing I can say for Bob Vila
