In public policy, a human life costs the U.S. Government at least $1,000,000 if tangled in collateral damage(s). In other words, we are all capable of accumulating more than $1,000,000 in our life time and I think $239-$250 for life saving devices is worth it.
Cost has always been a deterrent, but I've seen people renting them on ebay for only a couple of bucks a day. Maybe a better option for the random trip. If its reputable I guess

I've started renting ACR Resqlinks, BCA Tracker 2, ACR Aqualinks, etc by the day/week/month. Cheaper than buying for only 1 or 2 trips.
