I love how at 0:56 the normal cat feels brave enough to scare the dogs away right after the Savannah cat puts them in check. He's all like "Yeah that's right, don't mess with us.lol poor dogs
That's a lot of money to spend on a cat that you have outside. What are the odds that the car that invariably runs it over will be worth less than the cat?
An f1 savannah is a cross between an african serval and a domestic cat . An f2 is a cross between an f1 savannah and a domestic cat, and so on. It's the same with bengal cats, except with an asian leopard cat instead of the serval.
yes, they are - they are also typically harder to keep as pets because they are more like a wild animal than a typical cat. i've heard people say that f1s and f2s typically aren't as good of pets for that reason, though it depends on what traits the individual owner finds more desireable, like wildness vs. tameness. f1s are often fed more expensive raw/canned food rather than dry catfood, which can get expensive.
Your savannah is gorgeous. I actually have a ridgeback, about six years old, I was wondering if you think it's a good idea to get a savannah? and if so what generation. And do you know the pricing?
It depends on your dog's personality, because some Ridgebacks are really prey driven, but if you get it young and let them bond they would probably do great... In fact I saw a story about a pack of Ridgebacks who accepted a Serval kitten into their pack
As for which generation, I can only speak for F-1s, and mine doesn't like to be held, but he is very playful and athletic, and he does retain a lot of the Serval characteristics like chirping and pouncing, playing in water ect. Might be a good match for the Ridgeback if they are raised together.
These's are just so amazing cats really are and rare, thanks so much for your vids, im gonna settle with a f3 female kitten, here in england they are very limited to buy there is only 1 pure serval in scotland and im hoping to buy my f3 from there.
I think it would be okay around kids. If it was your family it would probably be bonded with them, and if it was some other kids it would probably run and hide. It would only work if the kids respected the cat and didn't try to pick it up or pester it, so maybe not with very young children. I know not to try to pick him or or do certain things without expecting a punch to the face. He won't use claws with me if he ever does swat though.
So are they supposed to eat stuff like that. Like do you have to go to the pet store and get the rats for him. Or can you get cat food and he'll eat it just fine. I have my own cats they are all domesticated completely. When I'm older I want either a Bengal cat or the rather larger cat that was eating the rat in the video. I haven't done my reasearch yet but are they just like any other cat? I'm curious because when I'm older I don't want to bring a wild animal into my home. Pixiebobs r cute 2
you can get cat food, I feed Evo kibble and instinct chicken cans sometimes, most of the time he eats raw meat, geckos or feeder mice. But they will eat cat food just fine, although they may need extra calcium if you aren't feeding raw bones, so a supplement like Mazuri would be good. They are not just like any other cat. They will want a lot of attention from you, they act more like dogs in that they want to be near you, whereas some cats are ok with an occasional petting.
gosh loook at his markings on his ears woaaa just like a cerval..i cant believe he just chills out side does he ever run away, did his spots/markings darken in through time, id really like to know thanks
I ussually put a harness on him, I think it's called Size Right or something like that... his spots didn't darken, but they did separate as he grew older and each spot became more disctinct instead of a mash up of black

It would be cruel to keep it locked up inside a house - it's an animal not an ornament!

its cool how the cat runs the show here. is he like this inside also or just when he gets his "live" meals.
drfostersmith 2 years ago
he is like this inside too, but the three dogs team up on him a lot. He is always battling with my ridgeback.

Would you save that this type of cat would be save around kids?
