Well, some good news... often, people who have a hard time with algebra have an easier time with geometry. It is a more "visual" type of math. Get yourself a good math teacher and several good geometry books to help you. I don't think I will have my geometry videos ready by the time you take your class, but I will try. Going over the videos I have here now will help you too.

I think you are describing the Safe-T compass. That one is OK, but not great. You can use it to make simple circles, but it is not very good for creating geometric constructions. I believe I actually talk about it in one of my "Math Tips" videos.

By the way, this video was made BEFORE the TI-30XS was available. I hope to talk about it in a future video.

Pretty much ANYTHING can be used as a weapon. I am not sure which safety compass you are referring to, but some that I have used are not very good either. A Graphing Calculator may be expensive, but it is a good investment, since it will be used for years and years. The TI-30XS is a good calculator, but does not do MANY things a Graphing Calculator can. You can cheaper models on eBay and some schools offer loaners to students!

i have an hp33 will tat do it. i use it mainly for Uil Calculators but i mght as wll use it for more educational stuff, right

The TI-84 is the most useful and user-friendly graphing calculator, in my opinion. I recommend you get it for your math classes.

I'm a math teacher too and I think you do a great job. I'm planning to look at your cds and maybe get a couple to use pieces of in my class. I have started doing things on You Tube as well--showing calculator use mainly, but I also have some music teaching math videos. I think you're better at it than I am. I like your positive attitude (while being humorous).

Yes, to legally use my videos in the classroom, you would need to purchase the DVD versions. If you do this directly from me, you can also provide students the iPod/iPhone versions as well (this is not done if you buy the lessons from other sources).
