What sucks is if your iPod is locked and you don't have the computer you 1st linked it to you have to update it and then you can't jailbreak it :( until a new version comes out

didn't really work, though I'm not sure I have the same problem. It just randomly stopped turning on, I can't charge it either. I plug it into my computer & itunes will detect it, but I can't do anything with it (include sync) because it keeps telling me to restore it. And when I click restore, I get an error :\

Ok My ipod is jailbroke and you know when you reboot it? it just keeps doing it over and over again so i put it in DFU mode. and when i read recovery it said to the factory settings and i have to much important things on it. I don't want to delete them this happened before but i didn't restore and it went back to how i had it.

by suggestion is not to hold buttons at eh same time at first. press the home button first and that the power button. and than than let the power button go. it works the same way.

I've followed all these steps, but it just stays frozen with the apple logo and the spinning thing (when something is loading), then after about 10 minutes, it turns off, then back on and starts it all over again, it'll continue doing this until the battery dies

your an idiot guy.. that would be how to put your ipod in recovery mode.. completely seperate from DFU mode.. although recovery mode helps recover it doesnt put it in anyplace to help u with firmware... the F in DFU

@nickstamania Yes it does. You're completely wrong. DFU mode doesn't put the firmware on, its just a deep bypass for some errors or for devices that are not responding. Recovery mode means to recover the device after something goes wrong...like lets say theres a corrupted file, the device will go into recovery mode. DFU mode means device firmware upgrade mode. Your device automatically goes into DFU mode every time you upgrade or restore.

what i learned is that you have to have the apple ubs in order for the DFU mode to work. i was using a spare non-apple brand and it didnt work until i plugged in my iphone with the official usb. hope this helps =D

Problem was, I was releasing the power button when the Apple logo started showing, but with your guide I kept both pressed for 10 seconds, and released power after that no matter what the display said and now it works.
