I know a guy who is about 97kg and he flies an Airborne Buzz about 135sq'? He is an ex HG instructor with experience going back to rogallos though. I weigh 97-100kg and I like the 175 Sting but if you take off in 5-10knt smooth breeze, a 154 sting might be OK. I would prefer a floater 190 for learning though. I also fly with a Litespeed 5.
The propeller looks slow because it's rpm is almost a multiple of the framerate. Between frames the camera records, the propeller might spin several times and end up in the same position for the next frame - this would make the propeller look like it's not moving.
G'day Floopydisc,What you buy depends on your weight and how much hang gliding experience you have.
I weigh 99kg so I have a high powered Wasp harness ~5000 English Pounds. I also have a lower powered Australian made Explorer from Airtime products about Aus$7000. The wing can cost about Aus$5000 new. Then there's lessons about $1500 or more and about 2-6mths or more.
2nd hand is a lot cheaper but you have to know what you're buying or it will probably kill you.
Thanks for your reply. After I posted my comment, I though it may have to do with the camera. I too have a cheap little camera like that. It make this video a bit mysterious though. Powered harnes is something I am considering for a while now. I can see lots of benefits. Like taking off from almost anywhere. Do you feel the extra weigh while soaring or thermaling while not under power?
Theprop is spinning at about 10000rpm divided by ~3.5. Say 3000rpm. My cheap little pocket camera makes it look slow because of it's low frame rate I suppose.
It's certainly not an aero tow, the motor puts out 60-65kgs of static thrust I'm told and it pushes the pilot way through the A-Frame.
OK, let's say I am the biggest air(plane)freak around (which is true), one of my biggest dreams has always been to become a private pilot (which is also true) but I'm colorblind (which, unfortunatly, is also true) and therefore will never obtain that dream.
OK, let's say then that I reaaaaaaaaally want to take to the skies anyway... How much would I pay for one of those babies? :-)
Im also color blind and a pilot, to fly hang gliders or paragliders you dont need to pass a medical test! such a hang glider costs about 6000$ but you could try paragliding which is not so expensive.
love the Vittorazi... have mine on a X-1 harness and a Falcon3 195. At 75kg I love the 3 step takeoff/landing...

i like how the camera makes it look like your prop is going soooo slow

With good training, and good listening, it's easy.

Don't try to fly powered hang gliding if you don't have a previous free hang glide flight. It's more technical than paramotor

thats starting to be closer to an airplane..

Motors are more fun than Hang gliding.

what kind of wing your flying?

G'day
It's a Sting175xc2 by Airborne Australia.
I have a Moyes Litespeed5 but it's airframe is smaller and not very compatible with the Wasp that I have.

What's with your prop? Is it spinning? That looked weird. Cool take off but looks more like a tow.

Just do it. They're fun to fly. I get a kick out of running and leaving the ground.
