  • i watched a ton of videos on the best way to do this first time vegetable for me, and this was certainly the most helpful. much appreciated!!!!

  • Can you possibly append this video with the other methods of cooking for those of us who don't want to microwave? Thank You!

  • @realeyz type in google..........how to prepare spaghetti squash and click on the first link..thats what i did..didnt want to cook in a microwave as i find it is softer baked not soo crunchy.

  • What a great video. I always thought that cooking spaghetti squash was time consuming. Definitely going to make this soon!

    p.s. lovely kitchen

    :-D

  • so happy I came across your videos. I had spaghetti squash the other day at a restaurant and had no clue how it was made - so easy! I even want to try it tonight! thank u!

  • Thanks for all the info - very helpful but I would rather not use my microwave. What are the cooking instructions for using the oven? Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for doing this video! I've always wanted to make a dish with squash but was clueless on how to prepare it.

  • thank u thank u thanks u lol

  • PALEO POWER!

  • I was into it until you put the squash in the microwave (nuclear-wave). What a waste of a beautiful veggie!

  • Thanks for the recipe!

  • What an absolutely great and helpful video from such a beautiful woman. ;) Thank you. I just picked one up for Thanksgiving, but not sure I can wait that long. heh heh Lookin' forward to making this. I am so glad it is as easy 'n quick as you showed. :)

  • This is really nice, especially since I'm a college kid. My mom handed me a spaghetti squash when I went home a few weeks ago and I still haven't used it! I hope it's still good!

  • Can you please suggest a way to prepare this without a microwave?

  • I cut in half and steam half at a time. That works for me. There are many ways to cook, prepare and serve this amazing squash. The only right way is how you like it!

  • great video exactly what i was lookin for

  • Thanks for your explanation. I got one of these "spaghetti squashes" in my CSA box today and I didn't know what to do with it. Now I know what to do!

  • Well done with this video, Dani! I'm making this right now..thanks to your video!

  • I like it, you look and talk like a regular person instead of some dolled-up gourmet Martha Stewart wannabee. Consider yourself subbed!

  • What's not to like about this video? Geez. Thanks for posting - I probably walked by this a million times and didn't notice it. I'll be picking some up tomorrow! :)

  • By far the BEST method of cooking. I do everything in the mic anyway, so it works for me. I checked out other vids and chuckled as the cooks struggled to slice through the raw squash. And it took them an hour to bake it in the oven. No thanks. Dani is the go-to in my book.

  • Thanks so much!

  • You. Are. Gorgeous. Now, how do you cook that yellow thing?

  • My grandma makes some amazing Butternut squash! She cuts it into halves and takes the seeds out and then puts some margarine and brown sugar in it, wraps them in tin foil and puts them open-side down in the oven. It is DELICIOUS!

  • FAN!

  • I like the way you laugh at the end of the video!!

  • That looks freaking AWESOME

  • Just bought my first spaghetti squash! thanks for your great video! i'm really excited!

  • Microwaving vegetables renders 90% of the nutrients in-active. It actually changes the molecular structures of most vitamins and minerals into "inert mineral compounds".

In addition, there are studies that suggest microwaves are starting to "speed up" the metabolic rate of the human body, resulting in disease, tumors, cysts, cancers, deteriorated atrerial wall elasticity and numerous other defects in cell structure.

  • THANK YOU :)

  • Shut up Meg(reference).Sorry you sound like meg from family guy XD

  • cooking with a microwave...lmao.

  • Retard do research on microwaves before you cook and lie on how much nutrients food had microwaves kill 90% of nutrients

  • Ehh. Poking holes with fingers in line with the vector of your knife? Not a good idea imo.

  • i cut mine in 1/2 and bake at 400

  • awesome video!

  • amazing radiated squash !! XD

  • I tiried it 3times but it turned out mushy, what could i be doing wrong?

  • I like a little less time in the microwave which makes it a sort of al dente.

  • come ON! dn't ruin the whole thing with the micro. :(

  • The only thing I do not agree with you is the constant use of the microwave. Microwave cooking studies show that nutrients and protein can decay from 5% to 40% when cooked there. Otherwise, your vids are great, informative and youre sexy...

  • this is so great I have alot of friends who have gluten allergies and or celiac and I've been experimenting with gluten free pastas and rice pastas i'm so excited to try this in my search for gluten free pasta options i completely forgot about "spaghetti" squash!! lol I totally had a facepalm moment when I found this out haha thanks for showing such an easy way to cook this especially for someone living in a dorm without an oven!!!!

  • haha the end was really cute n funny...lolololol...

okay so im really excited to try this, i cant tell u how many times ive tried making spaghetti squash n i just CANT do it!!!... BUT u made this loook super ez so im looking forward to it... tanks!!! <3

  • I'm getting addicted to your vids!!!! You cover all the 'basics' (but to me is new information I would of never known without your help). My friends don't cook, my mom tells me to buy a book and learn...you are my only hope!!!

  • @iorogutu Great so glad you are finding my videos helpful:)

  • @iorogutu lol... that is why i love youtube! so much easier when you SEE a recipe being 'executed', than going off a printed one

  • Thanks for posting! I recently found out that I'm carbohydrate intolerant, meaning my digestive system lacks the enzyms to digest carbohydrates like lactose, fructose, sucrose, and all those other words like that. Can't eat more than 25g of carbs at a time, so I'm really looking forward to making this later this week :)

  • @ShaneAndMisty It's really yummy! I hope you enjoy it!

  • Correction: You mentioned spaghetti squash has folic acid. Folic acid is a man-made supplement. I think you meant folate which comes from veggies

  • I think it's easier to deseed it first and then put the squah face down in a glass bowl with an inch of water and then bake it

  • you are hot

  • I have a VERY important question ! Can you freeze it ? I am planning my garden for this year, and want to plant something new. If it can be frozen,I will plant alot of it.I want to harvest most of it and vacuum bag it so I can use it at a later time.I'm thinking of a spicy asian style soup.I never worked with S.Sq. and want to experiment. Anyone ?

  • @demmylowther im pretty sure you can freeze just about any veggie or fruit (:

  • Thanks so much. This was a great tutorial.

  • Good summary on buying and using spaghetti squash. Thanks! I posted a video response with a vegan lemon spaghetti squash recipe I made recently.

  • *shudder* Please don't hold your knives like that. Your fingers will thank you!

Thanks for the squash related tips though

  • zomg...YOU CAN MIC A SPAGHETTI SQUASH?!?!?!?!

Can you do this to other squash?

  • Thanks for the really good tips... I'm going to try the microwave with my spaghetti squash.

  • squash rulzz

  • wow, never thought of that...like a giant potato! I'm gonna try this.

  • Microwave, eh? Never tried that before, but I'm gonna give it a go right now. If it works well, you've just opened the door to me eating a lot more spaghetti squash.

  • i need some advice.i grew some spaghettie squash from seed and it came out really good.i ended up with a few.now i noticed a powdery mildew on the leaves what can i do about it? please help.

  • all good chefs have a microwave in their kitchens just in case,,,,

  • love spaghetti squash!

  • This is great

  • Thanks for posting this! I just made it and it was great! I topped it with spaghetti sauce and Parmesan cheese and just scarfed it down! One suggestion: make sure you properly drain it because it's pretty wet

  • you ARE SO SMART! A hungry girls best friend I like that.

  • I'm gonna try this soon! found your channel while searching for spaghetti squash, I've subscribed now :)

  • You did a fantastic job. I learned a lot. Thank you so much!

  • Thanks a lot! I have a spaghetti squash on the counter. I know how to cook it now. :)

  • I want you now...mmm sorry i mean i want your recipe now.

  • Excellent explanation ;o) I am sharing this with my girlfriends!

  • you are so fun to watch!!!!! I made this before but didnt care for the flavor of it ;o(

  • What I do in the cooking process, is your slice it down the middle. Put both halves on a plate, and put a little bit of water in the bottom of the plate.

  • sweet ! i'm going to try this soon! i avoid squashes b/c i always thought they were too hard! thank you dani!

  • That is oh-mazing! I'm trying this tomorrow.

  • TRY CINNAMON AND SUGAR<3

  • Yum! Such an easy recipe! I'm a self taught cook & get intimidated by things that aren't in my 'norm' of cooking. But this looks doable!

  • Fantastic!!

  • I love your bloopers...and recipes- I made the Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Cups two days ago...yum yum...

  • I have a recipe for you: Spaghetti Squash NOT cooked in the microwave.

  • I was really excited about this recipe until she stuck it in the microwave. That's not cooking, that's cheap convenience.

  • Exactly. I halve it and bake it in the oven. Then I use it for whatever dish I am preparing.

  • Super!!!!!
