The Taliban are happy for girls to be taught, but it is the subjects they are taught which is the problem. If girls were taught the same subjects as the boys (Biology, Chemistry, Geography etc), then there would be no problem.

The huge issue with the Taliban is they represent the antithesis of Islam. The Qur'an does not deny education to women, and Muhammad's own wives were well educated and engaged in active employment. Let us not forget that it was Muhammad's first wife that supported him financially.

The situation today is nowhere near acceptable but is marginally better.
