I loved how afterward people were all like 'Want to Trade Pins?!' And we were all like 'Well, I don't got pins, but you can have my skirt!' and they were all like 'OMG REALLY THANK YOU!'

lol me and my friends(roommates) were like "I HAVE to get a Hawaii pin"....but i didn't...but it's really sad for me cause I love Hawaii!!!!!! Every trip that I went on with Mr. Payton was a mad success. He is the man and will be sorely missed in the marching band arena. There are some mighty big shoes to fill and hopefully someone is up to filling them. Daryl? Like Hawaii Public Radio Said about Mr Payton, he is a "Marching band Legend". We love you and Mike and Doreen!

its because payton was in charge of the music, but he announced his retirement on our last day of the trip, im so sad (happy for him though, i think he's sick of us :q)

I think Payton has retired like 10 times. LOL. Hard to believe he is still shaping young band members so many years later. :) I doubt he is sick of any of it. He loves it.

yeah, he made it very clear that it was for real. most of the times before he was doing it to protect his medical coverage, but now he says that his body is saying no. Ive learned soooo much from him, and im going to miss having him around.
