  • I was so in love in the the main man!!!!!!!

  • Hit #1 on the Billboard mainstream rock chart for 2 weeks on Sept 8, 1984

  • Sigh... was glued to MTV for hours on hours back in the early 80s when ALL they showed was music videos and concerts........... that's all! Music Television! and Now?

Media Television....the home of Reality Shows! grr...

Thank you for posting this Fixx clip!!

  • Lady WHO ?

  • I love the FIXX even saw them in the 90's they are as good as can be! They should have been alot more appreciated for their creativity and skills. So many great bands of the late 70's and early 80's. I am blessed to be in college at that time enjoying every note!

  • A friend of mine won this LP, Phantoms, in a high school drawing and we listened to it a lot. This song will always remind me of those Friday afternoons after school where you had no real responsibilities and the whole weekend in front of you. Good times.

As of 10/14/11, one person was not his or her self.

  • Ahhhhhh

  • GEORGE BUSH TUESDAY ROCKS]

  • Saw them last night in my home town! amazing show!

  • dam VEVO and Google ads totally destroyed the fun of youtube.

  • Some day people will look back on cell phones and say ( WTF ) did they use, what a joke. This video is a snapshot of the ever evolving American experience.

    Rock on.

  • The Fixx hit #15 in Billboard, 10-20-84. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx!

  • Just play the songs now and then...the advertised art is saltwater anyway.

  • 1 person is himself.

  • What a band! all i still can say after all those years :p

  • I think Cy phoned in his performance here...

  • Are you guys sure that is a telephone, antenna length and given technology of the time lends me to believe it is a CB radio, something kids don't play with anymore I guess. Cellular phones use microwave and that long antenna is clearly not meant for microwave frequencies. What cell phone has anyone ever saw that had a 2 ft. antenna.

  • @christianjforbes

Aye, i'd have to agree. I'm not sure it's a cell-phone either. It looks like a what i'd call a 'walkie-talkie' from my childhood. Reminds me of the type you'd see the army use during that period of time [late 70's early 80's].

  • It's not a cell phone. I've seen the cell phones that were available in 1984. They were the size of a brief case, so that ain't no cell phone Cy is "singing" into. And yeah, I think it looks more like the kind of walkie talkie that would have been used by a military unit.

  • @Kohntarkosz Yes, it is a cell phone. I lived during that time. And that is a circa 1980's cell phone. Watch the movie "Wall Street" with Michael Douglass, the one that came out in the 80's, he's holding one on the beach. In the new Wall Street movie, when he is released from prison, they give him back that phone and the guards joke about it. There were also "bag phones" which u are refering to. But the rich could only afford those he is holding...

  • @PlanTonto I love when this video came out and we all thought man only rock stars or really rich people have cell phones. Wow. It was so cool back 25 years or so ago. It looks hokey now but we watched this video and thought it was soooooo coool. Love the song.

  • @thepoweroflove85 I know huh? Now they are finding out we are all dying of cancer from the phones...LOL

  • I have this phone. It gives great reception and is surprisingly lighweight.

  • I remember the reception on those old phones. It was like talking through an empty soup can with a string!

  • I totally want that phone!

  • Just think....that "brick" phone that Cy is holding was truly state of the art, back in 1984. In fact, outside of the military, you couldn't even get you hands on anything like it at all, until about 1987 or so....

  • Lady GaGa has a dick.

  • lets see them run like that today. ha ha

  • @earlymtv LMAO LMAO!!!!

  • GaGa = Wannabe talented. Feeds on her crappy shock factor and uses it to cover up the fact that she is crap

The Fixx - Very talented! Pioneers of New Wave who used intelligent, thought-provoking lyrics to push others into looking at the world in a different way.

  • 0:40 who's he talking to on that thing, zack morris?

  • Shameless. A commercal before a 2 minute video, shame on you...

  • They are so underrated for the 80's/ I love um!

  • This video cracks me up. I like the beginning when the guys all fan out in the field. Imagine what the storyboard looked like when mapping out this video. That said, love the Fixx and love this song.

  • I haven't heard this song in an age. Great group!

  • Cool band. Awesome song. Awesome musicians. dumb video.

  • LOL@the huge cellphone.

  • @kll510 Cellular phones first came out in the 80s, and at that time, they were pretty huge. Nowadays, you can slip them into your pockets.

  • I would carry that cellphone around with me today just for sh*ts and giggles. Wonder if it's 3G capable...

  • @GoGoGadgetBeer 3G, no way, but I bet it's microwaveable and can perform x-rays.

  • LOL Check out the huge cell phone at the first of the video! The first one I got was in a freaking leather bag! hahaha I'm still waiting for my jetpack and shoe-cell phone like agent 99 had. heehee.

  • Hope Cy Curnin doesn't have dain bramage from using that cell phone. This video needs to be in the wayback machine.

  • looks like a crop circle!

  • Is that a cell phone in his hand or a mini refrigerator.

  • Is that a cell phone in his hand or a mini refrigerator.

  • @edub55411 Its a 70's walkie talkie, had one

  • LOOOOK!! The ONE RETARD hit the dislke button! Naughty Retard! We gotta watch those stinky fingers from now on!!

  • this video reminds me so much of DR WHO

the 4th DR who was trying to stop the Master

and fell off that tower and regenerated into the 5th DR

  • I feel like I'm seven again hearing this...It was one of those works that faded from my memory over the years, but I used to love this song! Now the fire of an old favorite has been rekindled.

  • I happen to be a die hard black sabbath fan. But I love this song. I guess that goes to show great songs have no boundaries.

  • @vamp2757 im a die hard Slayer fan and i like this song...ur right its really good

  • @vamp2757 I, too, am a die hard Black Sabbath fan. This song is one of top favorites of all time. It's all about the music and how it makes us feel.

  • @vamp2757 no shit great comment! I listen to Metal, some new stuff like LMFAO and big 80's, different moods different drugs. :>

  • check out that phone....

  • es vieja... pero wena

  • Best music around, still today, and tomorrow.

  • Type into Youtube old world secrets the omega project codes and watch it now before it is too late.

  • To the younger people watching this video: Yes, that's a cellphone he's holding. They were more expensive than the most expensive iPhone today. Ordinary people did not have them, only the wealthy. My, we've come a long way. If only we could cure cancer.

  • Rocking song.Spacey and out there.I love it.Robin Trower did "Bridge of Sighs'.He played with Jimmy Hendrix back in the day I believe.

  • @NikBattaglia911 No, Robin never played with Jimmy. He was part of Procol Harum before he went solo.

  • Using celluar one? Probably calling his agent, "help get me out of the 80's this is too fucking gay!"

  • @ohohmrbill1

The 80's...gay? Your kidding right. The 80's produced the most innovative music this worlds ever seen......and The Fixx were/are amongst those innovators. I can't think of 1 single band today that can stack up to the talent of these guy's. Today's "music" (it pains me to call it music) is nothing but highly produced noise, and that's insulting to noise!

If Gaga, Miley, etc. had just 1/10 the talent of the Fixx then I'd rejoice with hope for humanity and civilization!

  • @n8tureboy I agree with most of what you say, except for Lady GaGa. She uses synthesizer in "Poker Face", which was an instrument used by alot of 80's bands. I think she's influenced by the 80's so I respect her alot.

  • @binka21 Lady GaGa actually SAYS she is influenced by the 80s (and listen to "Alejandro" and then "Brother Louie - also on YouTube - as the songs are VERY VERY similar).

Synthesizers have come a long way in the 60 yrs they've been around. First, they were used for "special effects", then they were used to IMITATE acoustic instruments, then they were used to simulate "futuristic instruments that don't exist yet" and now they are used as themselves...

  • @shmuli9 Lady Ga Ga doesn't even compare to The Fixx, she is not original at all. These guys were the real deal. Totally original.

  • @bassmanjoe That was kind of my point, that even SHE says she was influenced {I'd say she often copies 80s songs note by note] by 80s music. (I prefer the Fixx, too, though a song from the 80s isn't AUTOMATICALLY better than a song from today, nor is a song from today AUTOMATICALLY worse than a song from the 80s. Cases in point: "Sister Christian" or "We Built This City" vs "Love Like Woe" or "Airplanes"...

  • @bassmanjoe

Oh, My Goodness! Can you believe that someone even mentioned that abomination 'Gagme' in a Fixx Thread?

I'd thought that I'd seen it all by now! The sooner that flash-in-the-pan 'Gagme' disintegrates back into the primordial ooze from which she came, the better off we'll all be! 10-4?

    Cheers,N8.

  • @ohohmrbill1 - You're a troll.

  • @ohohmrbill1 lol don't say that about my 80's man

  • If you want to see a movie that will blow your mind type into Youtube old world secrets the omega project codes

  • good band!

  • Love the Fixx! Love those 80s videos when bands really had to come up with a video and MTV was about videos.

  • @TheBruceGday OH, TO HAVE GOOD MUSIC VIDEOS BACK, LIKE THOSE OF NOT ONLY THE FIXX, BUT PETER GABRIEL, THE POLICE, THE CARS, OH AND YEAH, LET'S NOT FORGET D-E-V-O AND MY FAVORITE, THE TALKNG HEADS!!!!!!

  • Hit #1 rock, #15 pop in the US (Billboard). How'd it do in the UK? God bless!

  • @DaveWollenberg This was not a hit in the UK. In fact The Fixx did not have a Top 50 hit there.

  • @Synesthete1978 That's a shocker! Bein' an English band, I thought they might've had SOME level of popularity over there. God bless!

  • Saw them in '87 with Robin Trower opening up for them, at a saw theatre in Pensacola, FL.

  • @notaname1234 That is just amazing to me. I dig the Fixx but Robin opening for them??? I kinda think it shoulda been the other way around.

  • @Fishmonger1966 Who's Robin Trower?

  • @cinecromancer Hey that's funny. Do a search here if you really don't know.

  • @Fishmonger1966

Hey Fishmonger, did you ever hear Trower's album B.L.T.?

Especially the song "Into money" ? It's a rockin' good tune, but hard to find even on Y-Tube.

  • @n8tureboy Yeah I remember when BLT was new. Great stuff.
