Really, this is a revelation. The intensity in Gene Pitney's voice was always a distinction of his. To see his body doing what his voice always did creates a different image. IF he sang like that always, I don't think he'd have made it in America. Thanks so much for posting this.
C'era tanta più serietà,anche nel vestire, questo era il Festival di Sanremo,da lì a poco dopo sarebbe morta la più grande rassegna musicale italiana, che nostalgia,by Napoli.
@kickassfan - I remember watching this in 1966 - San Remo Festival where the Italian singers sang first and then the international singers sang either their version in English or sang it again in Italian - I think Bobby Solo won this with Una Lacrima Sul Viso- a tear on the face - I have never heard this version of Gene's in English but roughly it means -Nessuno mi puo giudicare - Nobody can judge me - La verita mi fa male lo so - truth makes me feel sick I know - or to that effect. Hope it help
Thank you Paolo for translating this for me. I always loved Gene singing in Italian..I had no idea how sad it was!! Well done for this old footage of my man!!
There was just something about Gene singing in Italian that was different from his American songs. He was so upbeat and and into it. The reserve we saw in this country seemed to fly out the window when he performed in Italy.
He demonstrated my feelings in these Times!
(But he diied in 2006 Schnief)

He just seems so relaxed in this performance. Outdoes himself.

@eutuveMusic You saw this performance on Italian TV or in person? I would have died to see it in person.
