  • Thank you so much for posting this.

  • Wow, this takes me back! My parents took us there around 1973. All I remember is, being in the car with the windows rolled up as we drove through the park on the hottest day of the year, in a '64 Ford Falcon with no a/c! Thanks for posting!

  • @kwakis 1973 was about the time I would be in Nursery School.

The car we were in was a white Rambler Classic Wagon that was about the same year as the Ford Falcon.

I've also been to the Catskill Game Farm 3 times in my life. It's now out of business as of 2006.

At least, the Bronx Zoo is still in business.

  • Hey I remember being there with my neighbors around 1976 -77 I think . I remember the story that they left lions and all kinds of animals there , and anything could have happened then but I don't ever remember reading it in the local paper , but its a cool story and I wont deny it happened !!

  • @vincequelmar It could be 1976, the year when the place closed. In case you haven't read the Wikipedia article, there's a link to it in the video description.

  • Others say a lot of the animals died when W Bros closed the park. Some were lucky enough to be sold to zoos.

  • I like Super 8. Shot some of it myself in the early 1970s.

  • @Caljamscott I would have more fun with Super 8 if only the prices hadn't gotten too high, or if only I'm rich enough to buy it myself. I would like to upload more, it just that I got other stuff to do. Right now I'm doing a series of uploads of the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island (including the Cliff Walk), in case if anyone's interested.

  • awesome video thanks for posting its amazing to see this in its hayday.

  • @theblackcatofpb Yeah, I suppose it was awesome during its few years of success. I read about a Six Flags park in NJ which has a bigger Jungle Safari (maybe it's "Wild Safari") and it's in a much better location than Jungle Habitat. I wonder how awesome is that place.

  • still have my green collectors plate and infant hat, went there in '75 when my son was 3 months old.. ty for posting

  • Great video and of course one of my favorites Le carnaval des animaux for two pianos and ensemble ...
