we went there when i was a kid and a pack of baboons ripped the aluminum striping off of our car,and a rhino, yes a rhino rammed our back fender and pushed my uncles 74 cadillac sideways, with us kids screamin away haha, left a hole in the fender too..and then we saw the little show they had,fed the goats and got our pictures taken with a 6ft boa constrictor wrapped around our necks..how dangerous was that place..but we loved it..we didnt realize we were just lunch on wheels for the animals.lol
Wow, this takes me back! My parents took us there around 1973. All I remember is, being in the car with the windows rolled up as we drove through the park on the hottest day of the year, in a '64 Ford Falcon with no a/c! Thanks for posting!
Hey I remember being there with my neighbors around 1976 -77 I think . I remember the story that they left lions and all kinds of animals there , and anything could have happened then but I don't ever remember reading it in the local paper , but its a cool story and I wont deny it happened !!
@vincequelmar It could be 1976, the year when the place closed. In case you haven't read the Wikipedia article, there's a link to it in the video description.
@Caljamscott I would have more fun with Super 8 if only the prices hadn't gotten too high, or if only I'm rich enough to buy it myself. I would like to upload more, it just that I got other stuff to do. Right now I'm doing a series of uploads of the Newport Mansions in Rhode Island (including the Cliff Walk), in case if anyone's interested.
@theblackcatofpb Yeah, I suppose it was awesome during its few years of success. I read about a Six Flags park in NJ which has a bigger Jungle Safari (maybe it's "Wild Safari") and it's in a much better location than Jungle Habitat. I wonder how awesome is that place.

@kwakis 1973 was about the time I would be in Nursery School.
The car we were in was a white Rambler Classic Wagon that was about the same year as the Ford Falcon.
I've also been to the Catskill Game Farm 3 times in my life. It's now out of business as of 2006.
At least, the Bronx Zoo is still in business.

Others say a lot of the animals died when W Bros closed the park. Some were lucky enough to be sold to zoos.

I like Super 8. Shot some of it myself in the early 1970s.
