That's funny,Gramm calling us a nation of whiners. If you really want to hear whining, hand a rich boy a shovel, and send him outdoors for a day of labor - or tell him he must defend his country. The rich are the weak.
im liberal and i disagree with mccain's politics but this particular video has clear quote mining. if you watch the next minute of him talking in another video he says he wasnt serious and that his comment will be distorted (which is what this video does). sorry but we dont have to rely on their tricks to make the audience believe otherwise. as for what he owns, it is all true and yes, he is a selfish bigot.
McCain is out of touch? All the fucking plutocrats you vote into office are out of touch. The Obamas in 2008 alone made about 2.6 mil (and of course now live like royalty with all expenses --thanks taxpayers -- paid in the White House). Every fucking president is a millionaire. Most congressmen and senators are too, yet you expect them to be able to relate to your miserable lives? You expect them to really care? Wake up you sheeple
Tubeviews [dot net] finally, a way for your video to be seen. I can't believe what has been kept secret from us this whole time. Enjoy and Be Blessed!
THIS WORKS! Its amazing.. THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE!!!!!!
I would have said $1-2 million a year would make you rich. But you need to remember John McCain has $100 million, $5 million a year is a drop in the ocean to him and also if he makes $6 million a year then if he were to say that $1 million a year was rich it would make his own income look grossly high.
I am getting sick and tired of everyone whining about the middle class. If you are in the middle class, guess what you put yourself there. If you are in the upperclass, congratulations you have worked to get there. Now here comes Obama saying hey middle class you dont have to pay as much tax. DO you know where the rest comes from, the upperclass. Why should anyone get taxed on working harder and having a higher education. It does not make any sense. Lets just throw Obama in green tights.
1. democrats can't take a joke or are so desperate as to take a joke out of context to attack their opponents.
2. democrats believe everyone in the US is looking for a handout, which is why they appeal to the worst in people and peddle 'freebees' (ie take from some people and give it to others. they, of course, get to decide who's worthy)
3. Rick Warren is a huckster that promptly needs to get lost.
How ignorant do you have to be to say this? I know McCain said he is not an expert on the economy, but how hard is it to come up with a better figure? In politics there is little room for jokes. He is out of touch. The average American doesn't have 7 houses and 13 cars.
I'M SORRY! But I'm not sure I know ANYONE that owns a house or a boat or a vacation home OR A BUSINESS!
ANNDDD The reason why I'm not going to stop is because starting a business ISNT easy. It probably was easy for someone who inherited the business but that isn't the same sir. Just ask the person who started it.
Ah another related thought... Obama (did I spell that right?) gave a relatively brief answer... If I earn 150,000 a year than I am middle class... and here I thought earning 54,000 a year that I was middle class... now I can truly accept why one paycheck goes to rent... cause I am poor... now if I could just get wellfare to give me food stamps and get my kids on wellfare medical coverage... I might actually have enough money to FILL my gas tank up and fill my refrigerator... ok... [/sarcasm]
once again... selective editing in an attempt to deface a politician... hey guys... really nice job of slinging mud... guess I about doubled my wasted time by posting this comment... HA! Thank you for reminding me that there are many many people like you out there trying to mislead and lie to Americans.
This was NOT a joke, he gave the figure with a straight face, the INSTANT raucous laughter in reaction produced nervous laughter by McCain (psychologists will tell you this is a normal *kind* of defense mechanism so that the person doesn't see themselves as some sort of dunce), then he stumbled in trying to move beyond his answer quickly, saying 'seriously' about 3 times, did NOT give a different answer, then moved away from the topic altogether. Folks, this man really IS out of touch!!!
First, the comment about $5 million was a JOKE. Watch the ENTIRE answer. This is a deceptive, dishonest clip. Secondly, the part about savings is totally inane. You people do realize that you cannot save $371k like McCain will under his plan, when you make a middle class salary. Of course the wealthy would save more in actual Dollars because they pay a hell of a lot more in taxes. Analyzing a tax plan this way is completely disingenuous. This is typical class warfare Dems use to get elected.
whether people will admit to it or not, republicans only care about the rich, and making the rich richer because they come from rich families and dont know what its like to be poor. Democrats are from poor families and know what its like to barely survive from paycheck to paycheck, and this shows it.. republicans just dont want to admit to it.. cuz they know we're right..
He has a poor sense of humor. People are losing their homes and choosing between gas money and food. So distorted it may be but I think the 'out of touch' label fits. Why would that be funny? Really, think about that. It best it was a crass and ill thought out statement.
Wow, I have seen some misleading ads, but this one takes the cake. Nice editing work. This is so choppy that I cant believe anyone is taking it seriously.
????? this is not misleading at all. he fucking said 5 million in that interview!! middle class america grew under clinton and suffered under bush- that part is FACT. mccain saying 5 mil is rich...how can u not be mad @ that??
What about the ad by McCain that says Obama is to blame for the rising gas prices over the past few years.
Plus this isn't misleading, it was a clip of a statement he made and one that his advisor Phil Gramm made about the American people being a nation of "whiners" in reference to the housing crisis. It wasn't "cut up". These are real statements by these men showing just how out of touch they are. Most Americans will not benefit from any of McCains financial plans.
Obama supported a bill to teach kids K-12 about sexual predators and what a "good touch" and "bad touch" are... The Republicans created an add that shows a classroom of little kids and the VO says "Obama passed a bill to teach sex education to Kindergardeners, he wants your kids to know about sex before they can read"... I shit you not I saw the ad on Larry King.
You morons. Check out the actual transcript from that event- at the event McCain told joke, said "I don't really belive that," "that was a joke," and said that some idiot would probably try to distort his comment. He was right. Obama and the DNC did take the low road- I guess this is what they mean by hope and change- taking a joke, spinning it out of context, and then trying to fool voters into thinking that McCain really thinks that. Seriously, get smarter and don't be idiots.
McCain mentions bad spending and overlooks the trillion dollar war. Private contractors are gouging and committing fraud in Iraq in the billions and he talks about a bear study?
Insulting.
Plus McCain lied about the Cone of Silence. This is not "boys will be boys politics."
McCain already gave up on truth so he can get what he wants. Where will he take us from here?
Office of Dirty Tricks still going strong -thanks for the legacy Tricky Dick.
For those of you who aren't interested in Partisan rhetoric, here is the full quote:
MCCAIN: How about $5 million? No, but seriously, I don't think you can, I don't think seriously that the point is I'm trying to make, seriously, and I'm sure that comment will be distorted but the point is...that we want to keep people's taxes low, and increase revenues. ... So, it doesn't matter really what my definition of rich is because I don't want to raise anybody's taxes. I really don't
Right... Because giving the rich giant tax cuts worked for the last 8 years, we're going back to Clinton tax policy since the last tax and spend liberals seem to be be more fiscally responsible than the last three fiscal conservatives combined.
You know this was taken out of context, anyone can clearly see that he was joking. Let me guess, when Obama gets attacked for stupid stuff you are indignant and offended, but when they pull the same crap on McCain you buy it hook line and sinker.
Well how about the rest of the commercial. The middle class saves 319 bucks. That's pretty fucked up.
I knew he was joking. He seems like a nice guy. But I simply disagree with his policies. He wouldn't make a HORRIBLE (OH MY GOD IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD) president.
He was joking aboout bombing Iran too. Let's see if life imitates comedy under his leadership...sorry. That risk is too high. Some things you shouldn't joke about because some things are not funny. McCain and Palin (who thinks community organizing is a joke) should go into comedy and leave the politics to those who actually care. This country has real problems and there are very few laughung matters here.
Our country does have serious issues, but that doesn't our politicians have to be expressionless, ultra-serious robots 24/7. And it certainly doesn't excuse this very dishonest advertisement which takes attention away from those serious issues. The only valid / fair criticism in the whole commercial was when they said the middle class would only save $319 under McCain's plan. The rest of it was meaningless garbage.
Are you guys serious? Mccain was being sarcastic for God's sake. He even PREDICTS this quote being taken out of context and distorted... "I don't want to take any money from the rich...If you're just talking about income, how about 5 million? But seriously, the point I'm trying to make here, seriously-- and I'm sure that comment will be distorted... is that we want to keep people's taxes low and increase revenue.
She graduated from the University of Idaho with a BS in Journalism, minor in political science in 1987. After a brief stint as mayor of 8,471 people, she has served as governor of Alaska, a state containing only one town with a population over 100,000 and only four over 10,000, a state with more reindeer than people, and for only a meager 20 months!
i'm not for mccain by any means, but this does seem pretty edited. Phil Gramm is a jerk off though and should answer some questions about his motives, this guy was obviously in the pocket books of the bankers when he was a senator, and after he left office, he got himself a nice job with one of the biggest banks on the planet, UBS.
This was put together by the DNC? Republicans are stupid enough to believe that Obama thinks there actually 57 States, or that he thought it was in St. Louis when he was actually in Kansas City during the Convention...but Dems actually believe he wasn't joking when he said that. Keep up the good work DNC.
could this be another "misinterpretation?" The video was spliced in the beginning (the time on the broadcast goes from :30-:32 between the question and answer).
I saw Obama's speech at the convention where he referred to McCain's comment. It proved to me that Obama is no different from any other politician in Washington, when he tried to make it come off like a serious statement. Listen to the content of his speeches. Thick with rhetoric but low on real content. Kind of like ol' Bill Clinton back in the day.
There's no question that McCain was kidding. To think otherwise is plain moronic.
The 5 million thing is crap; I was an Obama supporter but he took it out of context in his acceptance speech; Mccain was obviously joking. Does Barack Obama not have the time to watch the whole speech or the IQ to figure out that McCain was joking? Christ our candidates are morons...
I wish beyond wishing that McCain doesn't win as much as half of this country does....but please don't limit these videos to ten-second video blurbs. It's so easily taken out of context. Play the whole interview if you must, or at least the entire answer to the question. Otherwise the conservatives will think it's taken out of context.
George Bush likes to boast that he was a C student in college.
McCain graduated 5th to the bottom in his class of 899 students.
Can we afford 4 more years of another president who couldn't make the grade?
He voted with Bush 95% of the time in 2007. His claims to support renewable energy are a farce! McCain refused to vote for renewable energy tax credits EIGHT TIMES in the past year!
McAncient is a typical say-anything-for-your-vote politician.
$5,000,000 is middle class for McBush then again he is only worth $100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
This is the first time in my life that I have seen people from the UK coming over to the U.S. making specific trips to just shop. My God, we have become a bargain...Never thought I would see that. Hmmmm, everything is fine? Things don't need to change? I personally think the U.S. deserves better than that.
The Dems and Obama want "Change". Yet it seems to me they (the Obamas) and the rest of the Democratic leadership (Kennedys, John Edwards, etc), did really well with the way things are now. I know I and others have have done well with the way things are. Exactly what do they want to "CHANGE", and seeing as how they were able to do so well, why do they want to change it?
The Obama's achieved the "American Dream" mostly during Republican years. So what are they wanting to "Change"? I think they did pretty well. I know I did.
LOL, 5 mill, huh? so If i just wanted to be middle class, have a house and a car? What jobs are being created that a guy like me can make....oh 2 million a year. Im too old to become a pro athlete. lol
The ones who claim Obama will ruin the nation have brought the nation to ruin. The old guys we're supposed to trust have so royally screwed up, J.E. Bush couldn't run for president and G. H. W. Bush was brought to tears. The old man even took to hanging out with Clinton. They screwed us and have abused their power and trust to cover their actions.
McCain will not only continue this betrayal, he will improve upon Cheney's corrupt legacy. Why reinvent the wheel? We'll all be McCain's fodder.
He dont wanna take money from the rich? So then who's left to take money from, oh, the poor. Thats the republican way "my friends" the richer get richer and can afford 10 houses like John McCain but we, well we get the shaft.
I'm no Obama or McCain supporter. This video clip is should not to be taking seriously. The $5 million dollar McCain had mentioned was a joke. Obama defines rich above $150k and wants to tax anyone who makes $250k. Isn't the majority of the small business owners make $250k and hire the most jobs in America? Hmm...consequences, I see lots of small business owners going and out business and high unemployment number. No worries. Under Obama, we have an enrich social programs. Why work hard?
I agree with you about the video not being taken seriously. For goodness sake, IT WAS A JOKE! Why's everybody attacking McCain?! He even said "I'm sure that comment will be distorted." Sure enough, it has been. :)
Does anybody know what is going to happen if Obama gets into office? He will begin raising taxes. And do you know who will be paying the majority of those taxes? Upper class U.S. citizens. Any U.S. citizens making under $45,000 will recieve tax cuts. And the majority of people in the U.S. recieving the tax cuts will be citizens that are living off welfare because they are to lazy to get a job. The welfare money that these people earn will be tax money that upper class U.S. citizens have payed!!!
So, basically, you are saying that every dime you make goes to the less fortunate, and that everyone who is poor will use your money and "cheat the system"?
Come on dude. The roads you travel on, the police that protect you, the army that defends you, the hospitals that save your life, the schools that teach the nation's children and social security (+more) all depend on your taxes. Barely 1% of your taxes go to helping lower class citizens, and very few of THEM "cheat".
It's funny that not only did you misrepresent what he said, you cut out the part where he said you would misrepresent what he said. What you demonstrated here is that he's smart and you are deceitful.
Fedwatch, the problem is that Republicans promise to do that every time they're elected, and instead what they do is move spending, they move spending from things like health care, environmental protection, law enforcement, FEMA and education programs, and put it into foreign adventurism, corporate welfare and pie in the sky missile defense systems. After 3 presidents in a row making these promises, why should they take McCain seriously, especially when his tax cuts are for the rich.
Actually McCain said he didn't want to increase taxes for anybody or take anybody's money. He said he wanted to reduce spending instead. The Saddleback Forum will be aired again this weekend for those interested in seeing the unaltered version.
Any video can be edited to distort what was said. It's basically lying. Nice try.
Hey moron we have a budget deficit. Where do you think the money comes to hand billionares checks? It comes out of debt that all Americans hold. That means literally the Republicans are taking money out of our pockets to pay billionares.
To McCain and the Republicans, any taxpayer's money that does not line the pockets of the super rich is "tax and spend." Even the rebuilding of the crumbling infrastructure like roads and bridges is 'tax and spend.' Investment in education, healthcare, research and development is 'tax and spend!' Really, does that sound like a maverick?
i dont hate any one because they are rich... but DONT act like mcain and try to relate to everyday folks ,WHEN YOU OBVIOUSLY OUT OF TOUCH ,,,,5 MILLION,, this old geezer has lost his mind
If there was ever a prize for taking a quote out of context, DemRapidResponse would win it.
DRR did not bother to show the real answer that McCain gave: "I think that rich should be defined by a home, a good job, an education, and the ability to hand to our children a more prosperous and safer world than one we inherited." The $5million response was a joke after constant prodding from Mr. Warren for a number. McCain also said that someone would take the quote out of context. Yep!
If he doesn't want it to be taken out of context, why not give a real answer. I'll tell you why, because he knows that he'll get called on his proposed tax cuts totally robbing the middle class, and giving huge cuts to the rich.
Exactly. I watched the whole forum. Warren asked for a specific cut-off point for the rich-- the only real, tangible number he gave was "$5 million" in a joking fashion (it SEEMED), but then he laughed it off and never gave a real answer. Obama listed specific cut-off amounts-- exact, real numbers.
The saddest thing about this video is that some unenlightened people will actually believe it! They will be too busy (or too lazy) to watch the actual interview. I don't mean to say just watch the McCain OR Obama interview. To be a better voter one should LISTEN to what both candidates have to say in their entirety. NOT just little quotes taken out of context here and there to fill someone else's agenda.
The point is...
DemRapidResponse is spreading lies; using misquotes to sway the public.
Every Republican Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Bush II saw deficits increase during their presidencies. It turns out that Democratic presidents have a much better record than Republicans. They win in a head-to-head comparison in almost every category. Real growth averaged 4.09% in Democratic years, 2.75% in Republican years. Unemployment was 6.44%,on average, under Republican presidents, and 5.33% under Democrats.
The federal government spent more under Republicans than Democrats 20.87% of GDP, compared with 19.58%, and that remains true even if you exclude defense 13.76% for the Democrats, 14.97% for the Republicans.
What else? Inflation was lower under Democratic presidents 3.81% on average, compared with 4.85%. And annual deficits took more than twice as much of GDP under Republicans than Democrats 2.74% of GDP versus 1.21%. Republicans won by a nose on government revenue i.e., taxes, taking 18.12% of GDP, compared with 18.39%. That, of course, is why they lost on the size of the deficit.
Nice editing Hackjob. Holy lack of context batman....go watch the real clip, you know the stuff you cut out in-between the question and the point where he said 5-million. Your as dishonest as those people who call Obama a Muslim and I'm ashamed that you are probably part of my political party.
you saying for me to take the clinton years out is like me saying, take one of the few productive years one of you rep presidents might have had it makes no since, the point is overall the dems are better on the economy
If You are making Over 250,000 you will be taxed and that money will be used to build our bridges, some will go towards healthcare and also there will be a 1000 middle class tax cut
you are one stupid fuck making over 250,000 thats about 2 percent of the tax payers and they already pay far more than you think hell the top 5 percent starts a 153,000 and they paid
Consider the source here - this clips edits out a huge portion of his answer BEFORE he gets to the $5 million comment. It was a joke. Oh, I forgot: the Dems have trouble with the concept of humor. No wonder....
Everyone is SO polarized now in the nation. We are no longer just Americans , we've become either Just Democrats OR Republicans. Each not trusting the other. Each claiming the other party is no good. Ugh. I want to just get over all of this. The riff widens every day. will this lead us in time to another civil war ?
The President really has nothing to do with income tax. Tax bills are brought by the House, so if you want the rich to continue raping this country, keep voting Republican.
well... I am in the Military. and while 5mil is A LOT of money and many of us would consider much less to be "rich", We all know you need money to be a politician. Maybe he hasn't experienced poverty, but have 99% of the politicians that say they want to make things better for lower-middle class? And McCain will take care of me better than Obama. Obama wants to weaken military and cut pay.
Personally, I like knowing there is thousands of other Soldiers and Sailors who have my back, can live somewhat normal lives considering what they do for a living.NOW, lets say you are rich. Do you think a higher percentage of your money should be taken. You work hard for your money too.
I watched this whole presentation and McCain was making a joke, he didn't want to give an exact number to define middle class. Which I think he should have but that wasn't his complete answer.
Thats total bullshit. The only reason Clinton seemed to have a balanced budget is because he kept the long standing rules that Reagan had put into place and the congress left them in tact. He just happened to be in office when they came to fruition.
The federal government spent more under Republicans than Democrats 20.87% of GDP, compared with 19.58%, and that remains true even if you exclude defense 13.76% for the Democrats, 14.97% for the Republicans.

your not a dem thats a laugh the only thing dumber than a democrat is a so called independent and I think you are a liar to boot your just shill spewing leftist crap.
First off Im realy in Independent(uh. you know the ones who decide the election, 2 words, swing vote) Second how do you feel now that your McBush has just Endorsed THE DRAFT
let me help you here, when you say liberal you are not affending me because im not, but im also not a slimy republican, the onlyones i like is paul, and romney, but i still would not vote for these slime balls after bush hell no.
now I know you are an idiot ALL Ron Paul supporters are idiots, so who did you vote for in 2004 since you claim to be a swing voter that determines elections
Obama is not going to take money from the rich it just the republicans like to use there talking points, obama basicly said the money from the war in iraq can be invest in america, im not for over taxing anybody nither is obama, but the bush like republicans are gonna nail that in to you guys head, thank about it your taxes usually increases when you make more money and thats what happens when most democrats are president you make more money.
NO way bitch you said the rich are going to pay and I hate to tell you, the money from the Iraq war thats a laugh it won't pay for half the shit Nobama wants to do the latest figures 3 trillion in new spending you got that 3 trillion the war in Iraq and Afganistan 850 billion
neither you are him are very good at math are you
Gismo tech do you have a link to any statistics on the costs of these spending, because when somebody uses such technical terms as dip shit (it's two words by the way) and Bitch rather than referencing data, it's hard to take them seriously. Destrecht, it takes YEARS for oil production to start once drilling begins, oh well, if the reality of a stagnating economy, and an expensive war don't convince you, little things like facts won't have much effect.
sure it does Prudhoe bay firs well drilled in 1968, fed and state approving the pipe line 1973 the approving takes awhile, oil flows 1977 so your time line is way off so dipshit
do those facts help or the fact Anwar does not require an 800 mile pipeline to be built would only require about a hundred miles
and you still failed to answer the question since the top 5 percent paid 615 billion or 60% how much more should they pay. since you want to give a rebate of a 1000 that will cost about 150 billion and of course you want them to pay for bridges and health care that would cost about another 300 billion or more.
actualy if we take THE BILLIONS we are spending in IRAQ and invest that money in AMERICA We should be able to use that for health care and bridges and provide tax breaks to the middle class, because ass the middle class goes, as the country goes, its more people in the middle class thats why the economy is messed up because we need to help the middle class
Except that that means that you can get by on a lower income, competing for jobs with people who can get by on a lower income as well, with the result that your taxes are lower, but so are your wages.
So in the end lower taxes mean nothing if the lesser amount you spend is offset by the lesser amount you earn...
McCain knows that higher taxes on American's of all income levels is bad for the economy. The five million remark was a joke and McCain said watch the other side use this joke against me. He was right. Under Obama's tax plan the middle class with be hurt badly. See The Tax Foundation and Heritage for Obama's plan. The good news is Reuters/Zogby poll:
McCain now has a 9-point edge, 49 percent to 40 percent, over Obama on the critical question of who would be the best manager of the economy.
This video proves again that liberals dont want a president they want santa claus. Its all about what they can get fiscally and not whats best for the nation. What bullshit. I think every liberal should take an economics class before voting.
well im not a dem but im a independent You= typical gop denying the truth, what has been going on for the last 8 years is not working so why vote for a candidate that agrees with him(Bush) 95% of the time, sorry not happening independents for Obama
"Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain was formed to dispel the myth of "Straight talkin', principled, maverick war hero" John McCain. Through more than two decades of investigation of his behavior,... we have come to the unavoidable conclusion that he is unfit by virtue of his temperament, character, dishonesty, and emotional instability to serve as President of the United States or in any other position of public trust."
Every Republican Nixon, Reagan, Bush and Bush II saw deficits increase during their presidencies. It turns out that Democratic presidents have a much better record than Republicans. a few things i've gathered from the video:
1. democrats can't take a joke or are so desperate as to take a joke out of context to attack their opponents.
2. democrats believe everyone in the US is looking for a handout, which is why they appeal to the worst in people and peddle 'freebees' (ie take from some people and give it to others. they, of course, get to decide who's worthy)

Ritz1286 3 years ago 6
ok, lets just say he isnt serious. WHY WOULD THE "NEXT" PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES JOKE!!! ABOUT SOMETHING LIKE THIS?
Nuyoriican 3 years ago
Not sure how it's a joke
A lot of people have 5 million worth of stuff...if you add up house, cars, boats, vacation homes, ect...
Very few have 5 million CASH in the bank. That could be considered rich I guess.
PS - Getting rich is not hard. It's simple. You MUST build your OWN business.
Being an employee will NEVER get you wealthy.
Instead of complaining about how he is out of touch...why not stop bitching and start your own business and you will see how easy it is.
Gr1nCh3s 3 years ago
With all due respect, THINK before you type.

I might actually have enough money to FILL my gas tank up and fill my refrigerator... ok... [/sarcasm]

JohnQball 3 years ago 2

Democrats are from poor families and know what its like to barely survive from paycheck to paycheck, and this shows it.. republicans just dont want to admit to it.. cuz they know we're right..

trickpanda 3 years ago
What about the ad by McCain that says Obama is to blame for the rising gas prices over the past few years.
Plus this isn't misleading, it was a clip of a statement he made and one that his advisor Phil Gramm made about the American people being a nation of "whiners" in reference to the housing crisis. It wasn't "cut up". These are real statements by these men showing just how out of touch they are. Most Americans will not benefit from any of McCains financial plans.
ashoftomorrow 3 years ago 2
Well I know one that beats it!
Those Republicans have NO SHAME!
chrisbgsu91 3 years ago 2

Indeed you are correct spitherd, McCain even stated "that will be taken out of context" after he jokingly said it.

McCain said it. It's simple.

For those of you who aren't interested in Partisan rhetoric, here is the full quote:
MCCAIN: How about $5 million? No, but seriously, I don't think you can, I don't think seriously that the point is I'm trying to make, seriously, and I'm sure that comment will be distorted but the point is...that we want to keep people's taxes low, and increase revenues. ... So, it doesn't matter really what my definition of rich is because I don't want to raise anybody's taxes. I really don't

Right... Because giving the rich giant tax cuts worked for the last 8 years, we're going back to Clinton tax policy since the last tax and spend liberals seem to be be more fiscally responsible than the last three fiscal conservatives combined.

nic4747 3 years ago
Well how about the rest of the commercial. The middle class saves 319 bucks. That's pretty fucked up.
I knew he was joking. He seems like a nice guy. But I simply disagree with his policies. He wouldn't make a HORRIBLE (OH MY GOD IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD) president.
Agree to disagree? :)

Brandon, I agree with you on that, but then again, the middle class always gets screwed with Republicans.
nic4747 3 years ago
He was joking aboout bombing Iran too. Let's see if life imitates comedy under his leadership...sorry. That risk is too high. Some things you shouldn't joke about because some things are not funny. McCain and Palin (who thinks community organizing is a joke) should go into comedy and leave the politics to those who actually care. This country has real problems and there are very few laughung matters here.
anmaxwell79 3 years ago
Our country does have serious issues, but that doesn't our politicians have to be expressionless, ultra-serious robots 24/7. And it certainly doesn't excuse this very dishonest advertisement which takes attention away from those serious issues. The only valid / fair criticism in the whole commercial was when they said the middle class would only save $319 under McCain's plan. The rest of it was meaningless garbage.
nic4747 3 years ago

Any U.S. citizens making under $45,000 will recieve tax cuts.

K1ngmaker 3 years ago
Actually McCain said he didn't want to increase taxes for anybody or take anybody's money. He said he wanted to reduce spending instead. The Saddleback Forum will be aired again this weekend for those interested in seeing the unaltered version.

To McCain and the Republicans, any taxpayer's money that does not line the pockets of the super rich is "tax and spend." If there was ever a prize for taking a quote out of context, DemRapidResponse would win it.
Yep!
jambearok 3 years ago
If he doesn't want it to be taken out of context, why not give a real answer. I'll tell you why, because he knows that he'll get called on his proposed tax cuts totally robbing the middle class, and giving huge cuts to the rich.
K1ngmaker 3 years ago 2

SupaSam954 3 years ago
SupaSam954 3 years ago
The federal government spent more under Republicans than Democrats 20.87% of GDP, compared with 19.58%, and that remains true even if you exclude defense 13.76% for the Democrats, 14.97% for the Republicans.
SupaSam954 3 years ago
That, of course, is why they lost on the size of the deficit.

lie? he wasn't in the cone of silence, moron, even he said so.
crumbinator 3 years ago
Consider the source here - this clips edits out a huge portion of his answer BEFORE he gets to the $5 million comment. It was a joke. Oh, I forgot: the Dems have trouble with the concept of humor. No wonder....
SimpleSalesSolutions 3 years ago
Wow, does McCain ever sound... elitist.
crumbinator 3 years ago
Everyone is SO polarized now in the nation. We are no longer just Americans , we've become either Just Democrats OR Republicans. Each not trusting the other. Each claiming the other party is no good. Ugh. I want to just get over all of this. The riff widens every day. will this lead us in time to another civil war ?
MasterMark123 3 years ago 2
civil war? thats a tad extreme

The President really has nothing to do with income tax. Tax bills are brought by the House, so if you want the rich to continue raping this country, keep voting Republican.
SumnerClaridge 3 years ago
what a moron the democrats control the house and the senate. IF you like 4 dollar oil
keep voting democrat

SupaSam954 3 years ago
FireFighterFVFD 3 years ago
Personally, I like knowing there is thousands of other Soldiers and Sailors who have my back, can live somewhat normal lives considering what they do for a living.NOW, lets say you are rich. Do you think a higher percentage of your money should be taken. You work hard for your money too.

the more that they learn about NObama the less they like him. The one thing Nobama has said thats true "its above his paygrade"
and that is true everything is above his paygrade
gismotech 3 years ago
$5 million a year! John McCain is out of touch with average Americans.
automax4 3 years ago
Obama its above his paygrade
must suck he spent 6.5 million in FL 10,000 commercials and McCain has spent zero in FL and McCain is ahead by 6 points ha ha ha ha
Obama spent 2.5 million in NC and McCain has spent zero and is ahead by 6 points just two of the battle ground states
and bitch boy NObama is a loser. ha ha ha ha
gismotech 3 years ago 2
I watched this whole presentation and McCain was making a joke, he didn't want to give an exact number to define middle class. Which I think he should have but that wasn't his complete answer.

Exactly what I saw. It's too bad that so few people actually watch the entire thing before they leave dumb comments.

SupaSam954 3 years ago
Thats total bullshit. The only reason Clinton seemed to have a balanced budget is because he kept the long standing rules that Reagan had put into place and the congress left them in tact. He just happened to be in office when they came to fruition.
MeLikeGoFast 3 years ago 3
The federal government spent more under Republicans than Democrats 20.87% of GDP, compared with 19.58%, and that remains true even if you exclude defense 13.76% for the Democrats, 14.97% for the Republicans.
SupaSam954 3 years ago
SupaSam954 3 years ago
I guess Carter was a Republican with 13 percent Inflation, prime rate 21 percent, lines for gas zero growth.
freaking idiot
gismotech 3 years ago
Answer this, how does tax breaks to the rich people and corperations like walmart and exxon moble help the economy, maybe you need to ask exxon john
SupaSam954 3 years ago

gismotech 3 years ago

gismotech 3 years ago

SupaSam954 3 years ago

then shut the fuck up IF YOU DON'T VOTE YOU DON'T GET TO BITCH ABOUT WHO WON OR HOW THEY DO THE JOB
YOU FUCKING STUPID IDIOT
gismotech 3 years ago
Obama is not going to take money from the rich it just the republicans like to use there talking points, obama basicly said the money from the war in iraq can be invest in america, im not for over taxing anybody nither is obama, but the bush like republicans are gonna nail that in to you guys head, thank about it your taxes usually increases when you make more money and thats what happens when most democrats are president you make more money.
SupaSam954 3 years ago
NO way bitch you said the rich are going to pay and I hate to tell you, the money from the Iraq war thats a laugh it won't pay for half the shit Nobama wants to do the latest figures 3 trillion in new spending you got that 3 trillion the war in Iraq and Afganistan 850 billion
neither you are him are very good at math are you
gismotech 3 years ago
Ok Ass im tired off explaning thing to a right wing nut job, go help mcBush Count his Houses
SupaSam954 3 years ago
Gismo tech do you have a link to any statistics on the costs of these spending, because when somebody uses such technical terms as dip shit (it's two words by the way) and Bitch rather than referencing data, it's hard to take them seriously. Destrecht, it takes YEARS for oil production to start once drilling begins, oh well, if the reality of a stagnating economy, and an expensive war don't convince you, little things like facts won't have much effect.
K1ngmaker 3 years ago
sure it does Prudhoe bay firs well drilled in 1968, fed and state approving the pipe line 1973 the approving takes awhile, oil flows 1977 so your time line is way off so dipshit
do those facts help or the fact Anwar does not require an 800 mile pipeline to be built would only require about a hundred miles
gismotech 3 years ago
and you still failed to answer the question since the top 5 percent paid 615 billion or 60% how much more should they pay. since you want to give a rebate of a 1000 that will cost about 150 billion and of course you want them to pay for bridges and health care that would cost about another 300 billion or more.
so is 70 percent enough for you?
hack
gismotech 3 years ago
actualy if we take THE BILLIONS we are spending in IRAQ and invest that money in AMERICA We should be able to use that for health care and bridges and provide tax breaks to the middle class, because ass the middle class goes, as the country goes, its more people in the middle class thats why the economy is messed up because we need to help the middle class
SupaSam954 3 years ago
Now I see your just a fucking idiot try and make up your mind do you what the rich to pay that or are we just going to save it buy ending the war
as for the hiways we just spent about 300 billion just a few years ago.
you are stupid aren't you
gismotech 3 years ago
Gismotech don't call somebody stupid if you write so bad that nobody can understand what the hell you're saying. Punctuation isn't just for looks!
K1ngmaker 3 years ago
was I talking to you? no
then mind your own business
dipshit
gismotech 3 years ago
I followed the election closly, the reason i did not vote was because i was to young, im not now and im showing my support
SupaSam954 3 years ago
The bush tax cuts which allows corperations to get tax breaks, you know the one john mccain opposed before he supported
SupaSam954 3 years ago
Yeah I know those tax cuts that, as a man making 35,000/year, have reduced my tax burden by 4,000 a year.....sweet
lousexhaustmass 3 years ago
Except that that means that you can get by on a lower income, competing for jobs with people who can get by on a lower income as well, with the result that your taxes are lower, but so are your wages.
So in the end lower taxes mean nothing if the lesser amount you spend is offset by the lesser amount you earn...
OolTube 3 years ago
McCain knows that higher taxes on American's of all income levels is bad for the economy. The five million remark was a joke and McCain said watch the other side use this joke against me. He was right. Under Obama's tax plan the middle class with be hurt badly. See The Tax Foundation and Heritage for Obama's plan. The good news is Reuters/Zogby poll:
McCain now has a 9-point edge, 49 percent to 40 percent, over Obama on the critical question of who would be the best manager of the economy.
SoldierBoy143 3 years ago
This video proves again that liberals dont want a president they want santa claus. Its all about what they can get fiscally and not whats best for the nation. What bullshit. I think every liberal should take an economics class before voting.
MeLikeGoFast 3 years ago 2
well im not a dem but im a independent You= typical gop denying the truth, what has been going on for the last 8 years is not working so why vote for a candidate that agrees with him(Bush) 95% of the time, sorry not happening independents for Obama

SupaSam954 3 years ago

Mission Statement of Vietnam Vets AGAINST MCCAIN:
"Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain was formed to dispel the myth of "Straight talkin', principled, maverick war hero" John McCain. Through more than two decades of investigation of his behavior,... we have come to the unavoidable conclusion that he is unfit by virtue of his temperament, character, dishonesty, and emotional instability to serve as President of the United States or in any other position of public trust."
