Floyd is only for certain minds ,,,,,,when music and songs had to be written ,,no Jay Z and Em n em shit was called music ,,,,,,,,,,Floyd is magical mystical and God sent
@fcpictures There is fucking original music everywhere right now. Dig deeper, if you care you'll find them. There are some really revolutionary bands now. Only that music like this was mainstream before. And now all the creative music is less available. But, extreme metal, has some of the most creative music nowadays. Meshuggah, for example. No one does what they do, really. I can name quite a bunch bands now, but I can't be arsed. I get mad at comments like this: "MUSIC WAS BETTUR BEFOR"
@Mechanix1911 plz tell me what creativity you're talking about concerning Meshuggah. I listened to 4 songs on youtube and they're all generic metal. KTHXBYE!
pink floyd was one of my favorite dance and soft rock bands. Shine on your Crazy Diamond especially set the romantic tone for those long-lasting relationships. I would have Floyd 8-tracks stacked on top of fleetwood mac and the pointer sisters. And I'm certainly not making this up.
@monstercrabee they have a.d.h.d., can't handle anything longer than "oh my god". at some point song length may shrink below 2 mins, like people can't hold their focus long enough.
Meddle is without a doubt my favorite Pink Floyd album. All the songs are good or great (even "Seamus" has its own charm). Honestly though, if the album only contained "Echoes", I would still buy it. That song is the most incredible piece of music I've ever heard.
@ridefly66 Séamus Irish pronunciation: [ˈʃeɪməs], is a male first name of Celtic origin. It is the Gaelic equivalent of the name James, ultimately from the Hebrew יַעֲקֹב Yaʿaqov.
Variant spellings include Séamas, Seumus, Shaymus and Shamus. Diminutives include Séimí, Séimín and Séamaisín.
Its meaning is "one who supplants" or "substitute". In the United States, the name "Shamus" is sometimes used as a slang word for private detective.
Meddle is the greatest Pink album of all time. It's a shame that the corporate piece of crap radio stations don't play any of it anymore. It is the album that put them on the mainstream map. The first time the motor cycle gang that lived next door to me let me come over in 1973, I was 13 years old and they were getting high to this album. Man they were cool, I worshipped those guys. I had never been exposed to this kind of music. It blew me away!
hello soul mate, went into a music shop in Devon as a 15 year old, , said I know what I like but dont know who does it. The guy said what about this second-hand album called Meddle for 50p? OK I said, turned my life around. Oh My !!!
@royalway12 my brother the piece of crap corporate radio stations { as you call it } are scared of this deep stuff as well as these { what i call } brainwash top 40 Progressive Rock stations this is a great tune right on my brother !!!
Meddle & Atom Heart. The ULTIMATE Floyd. The clip here is actually the intro to "One of these Days I'm Going to Cut you into Little Pieces" - Or as David Gilmour once said "for the sake of the LP, 'One of these Days'. But for some reason, the guy who posted just put a few minutes of each Meddle song.
meddle is not one of their less known albums! Have you heard trhe Echoes song? Its an epical masterpiece! That by itself is known to be THE signature floyd song!
Are you serious? This has got to be one of my favorite Pink Floyd albums. Don't tell me I don't know anything about it. I'm just saying that when you meet someone who says they like Pink Floyd, you find out the only PF album they've heard of is "The Wall" or "Darkside of the Moon."
Ok as one PF fan to another, I apologize. But it was albums like Meddle that set pink floyd off to make experimental music and concequently be the building blocks of their. By the way, dark side of the moon was about the hollowness of what a rock star feels and the Wall was about his disconnection with his fans. The wall was a masterpiece operatic rock act. IWYWH was another great one tributed to Syd (mostly). Of course ANIMALs was superb W epical songs like the DOG and the SHEEP.
this album was the end of their experimentation, not the beginning, you cant say that animals or wish you were here is more experimental than atom heart mother or ummagumma or ASoS
I remember summer nights lying on my front lawn in Chicago listening to this from a boom box staring at the stars when I was about 12 years old. I loved it, and still do.
Well done, 1nicu. I had not heard these tunes since losing my beat-up old cassette tape. This is just about my favorite PF--along with the songs on "a bizarre collection of antiques and curios."
Meddle means to intrude on something but I don't know what the story is behind it and I'd hate to give a wrong answer. I checked wiki and it had nothing.
I know what meddle means, I was wondering about the story behind it, wikipedia has nothing, and I havent found any other source with that answer, does anybody here know?
The first time they played it live at Crystal Palace Bowl they introduced it (the track "Meddle", that is) as "The return of the son of nothing" Go figure!
You missed out Seamus!!! Why does everybody hate Seamus?!?! :(
