this for me is a must anything three brews and up. and @chaosprune, if you can't feel the Hendrix in that solo you, well why say something snooty cause i love ya brother, but Malkmus was feelin this like Hendrix at Woodstock. check Hendrix Villinova Junction at Woodstock. get the same feeling in your heart. aint nothing like a cat going off on it thats when we feel it. it be the spirit being set free, peace to thee!
SM's guitar is really weeping, but not gently. Gives me goosebumps everytime, goes to show that amazing solos don't have to be a riff of a thousand notes per second, rather hitting the right notes.
One of the most beautiful songs of all time. The live performance really captures the sense of finality that pervades the song in a way that the recorded version doesn't. It's strange, but listening to this version, I can understand how the song was called "Fin" and "Infinite Spark." Thank you, very much, to whoever posted this. It's a treasure
thats a nice habit of them. they choose appropiatly songs for starting, carrying you through the cd and finishing. and all crooked rain, wowee and brighten have beautiful perfect for ending songs
you are kidding me! Do you where I could get some information about this tour? I am wondering if it will reach even Italy....at least european cities, I am willing to treavel ditant to not miss them....
So effortlessly cool. Damn SM, SS, MI all look so goodamn suave as they rip these atonal fukallya riffs, which fit there perfectly...great stuff. Vintage pavement.
Yep. They just had that certain something, didn't they? It just flowed out without a lot of fuss. It's the whole band, too - the whole package. At the time I saw them as simply the best of those that were doing similar things, but now I see them as way more than that.
does anyone have any idea whether stephen's jazzmaster is vintage or CIJ? Since he's started using it in 1997, it obviously couldn't be an american reissue, which came out in 1999, right?
It's bloody hard to tell as the footage is a bit grainy, the fact that it's so beat up (note the missing tone knob and toggle cap) I'd guess vintage. I've played plenty of cij ones, they're excellent guitars.
Because your whole perception of live music has been degraded by MTV and Calvin Klein models posing as singers, twats in uneaven haircuts and people who mime. If you actually got up off your arse and went to a live show of some description one day you would realise that it's about the exprience and and being there that counts... and No. seeing My Chemical Romance doesnt count either.
Hey, Malkmus makes different versions every time he performs... you should know that... Although I doubt he ever said that. Anyways don't be so harsh.
i find this easy to masturbate to

Fillmore Jive and Fin are the two best closers ever.
And I think we can all agree that on Wowee it should have ended with Pueblo after Half a Canyon, not Western Homes.
sushilll111 1 year ago 4
@sushilll111 , Couldn't agree more. This is my favorite song, probably one of the saddest tracks I've ever heard. It screams with held back emotion.

There are not many bands who are allowed to do a guitar solo like that without getting the power switched off.

Tony Hawk is eight years younger than Malkmus. I suppose that would make Hawk the one that looks like Malkmus, not vice-versa.
