Path Thrall ended up with Pat Travers with Tommy Aldridge; who asked me if I wanted the gig and I passed on it; what a mistake; but Tommy was so good; and I was burnt out by then...
Wow, I've been looking for songs from this album for SOOOO long! I got the new forever ago. Thrall played so outside the 'blues box' on this and the 2nd 'pink' Visitors album! Definitely a big influence on my playing.
does anyone know what Pat Thrall is doing today? saw him with Pat Travers and it was one of the best concerts out of about 80 i've been to! gonna try to find this album at Amoeba records.
Please check out their newly revised wikipedia page everyone, i worked hard to make it as thorough as possible and thanks to freein for putting all this great music up.
Glad to see there's so many other Automatic Man fans out there. When I bought this album back in high school I thought I was the only one who had ever heard of them
Thrall's guitar solo is monster on this one and check out Shrieve's pioneering use of the Lamme's Impakt Electronic percussion in addition to his acoustic drums. I love the disclaimer in the record "please note no synthesizers have been used on the guitars."
Still have this LP w/ no way to play it..thanx 4 posting. I always thought these guys should have made it big. Oh well, seems too often to be the fate of bands making music ahead of their time.
Yea! Micheal Shrive kicks ass! my favorite rock drummer of all times! saw these guys open for Jeff Beck in Concord, CA and they stole the show!!!
Listen to that! he's not using a double bass he is using one foot! I learned how to do that from him! Mike you are the shite dude! Yea!!!!
listen to his 6 stroke roll combo at 2:28! How many other drummers do you know who can do that unless they have played in a drum corps? None! thats right! Shrieve you are bad ass!
Thanks, I remember listening to Automatic Man on imported vynyl back in the late 70's (I'm in the UK), you inspired me to order this on cd (Hope it gets here in time for Christmas) ..... keep the tracks coming
maybe a better recording of this for post... ?

God does Shrieve just kill on this song; him and Terri Bozzio are the two best out the whole bunch at that time; with Bill Bruford; of course...
