  • I hear a lot of Ringo-influences! Great!

  • YEAH!

  • ... was that jake bowen in the studio?

  • Mike Portnoy and Neil Peart the two drums god

  • dame un hijo ctm DDD:

  • Paul Bielatowicz plays guitar - astoundingly good guitarist.

  • Who is playing guitar? :O

  • Here's a drinking game: Take a shot every time he hits a cymbal

  • @playingforbritain lol fuck that

  • this is why i love this guy :D

  • what song is it when mike is air drumming? :)

  • @bl00ber99 It's the same song, It's For You

  • He should get some bad ass motherfuckers together..make some totally killer music and call his band Theater Dream! Heh heh! \m/

  • I've killed two people in my entire life

  • WHAT RIDE HE USE?? please answer me.

  • @raiotinfamigold Sabian HH 22" Rock Ride Brilliant --> One of the most amazing rides out there!

  • @pipapoist i see, thnk you very much :)

  • Wow Mike sounds great here!

  • Mr Portnoy and Neil peart are the best drummers easy

  • Portnoy, seu safadênho!

  • 0:35 Guy in the corner playing on his iPod? How can you play on your iPod when there's a legend in front of you playing on that kit?

  • I love Mike Portnoy's drumming but with that said I still prefer Gavin Harrison over every other drummer on the planet.

  • Is the album out yet?

  • @sovereignsjust Yeah. It's on the Testimony 2 album by Neal Morse. It came out around February of this year I think

  • God.....He's my fuck**** GOD....

  • I love to see how this guy enjoys his ass off while playing... that's why he's a great musician!!

  • I hope to listen between MP and Kevin Moore playing soon... Even if it's with OSI.

  • Man , you are soooooo good!!!!!

  • He ll be the greatest drummer of all time, maybe ll pass neail peirt and others. He's my favourite.

  • Is there really any actual 'feel' to that drumming?

  • Neal Morse <3

  • Mike is a great drummer....but a weak air drummer.

  • Nice.

  • That was AWESOME!

  • name of song please !=) mike portnoy is the nº1 .sorry mangini

  • MIKE PORTNOY RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULES !!

  • Sweet! Glad to see he still has awesome things to offer post-DT... Adrenaline Mob are highly suspect

  • Awesome!

  • Got to say Portnoy, sometimes you are too much.thx god for you, just remember not to make you ego bigger than your talent!!!!!!!

  • Neal Morse is awesome, and I'd hate to say it but... I think if Mike Portnoy wasn't his drummer, his songs wouldn't be nearly as good.

  • Thumbs up if you.. Mah..

  • GREAT MIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • play back ?

  • 0:30 Funny face lol

  • Unique

  • Mike you are the greatest

  • I've never seen Mike that focus! He realy must love it :)

  • @skrzyp69zlo thats because Neal Morse is watching. He reaally makes you focus.

  • sounds pretty good

  • See... This is one of the reasons Portnoy is a fukcing insane drummer... any drummer could easily play a part in this song that is very simple and standard, and it would sound find. But Mike always done something unique. Always.

  • @Zaxo117 Not any drummer dude. You gotta have some technique, speed and soul to play it and get to sound with that power.

  • @Ulghart Well yeah. Definately. I meant.. any actual drummer. Not those kids who practice half an hour a week and say they play drums. I just love Mike. Whenever I listen to him, his parts are really creative. Maybe he's not the #1 greatest drummer ever... but he's definately my favorite!

  • @Zaxo117 me too :)

  • @Zaxo117

    My top 5

    Buddy Rich

    Neal Peart

    Mike Portnoy

    John Bonham

    Dave Lombardo

Maybe not the best list but its an honest one

  • @junito52 All are amazing choices! I'm no expert. I've only been playing for about two years. But If I had to pick my top five drummers that I love to watch play it would probably be:

    Mike Portnoy

    Gavin Harrison (Porcupine Tree)

    Thomas Lang (Thomas Lang xD)

    Virgil Donati (lots of stuff)

    Akira Jimbo (Akira Jimbo)

If I was going to go by who I thought was the most skilled, that would be another list, and a much harder one to make because there's so many amazing drummers out there.

  • @Zaxo117 I think no one is the greatest drummer of all time!

  • @Zaxo117 you oughta check out gavin harrison. hes my favorite drummer of all time. that guy is a well of creativity...and i dont even play drums lol

  • @JohnPetrucci251 Yeah, I love him. In the past couple of months of gotten into Procupine Tree almost as much as I've been into Dream Theater. Those guys are awesome, and yes, Gavin Harrison is a God.

  • @Zaxo117 haha same man! opeth is good too. so much talent out there

  • @Zaxo117

i pratice and hour of set every day and a 1/2 hour of rudiments every otherday and i'm 17 soo

  • @Zaxo117 who gave you the right to say who is and who isn't a drummer?? just because you dont play everyday all day doesnt mean your not a drummer. as long as you love playing it doesnt matter how good you are or how much you play. some people cant play as much as they want to.

  • @ECSdrunx I agree that you don't have to practice all day every day to be a drummer. But you do have to practice some. I was addressing those who buy a kit and just let it dust. Sorry. I don't consider those people drummers. I love to play piano. I try to figure out and write songs all the time. Am I a piano player? No. When it comes down to it, I suck. I appreciate the comment. I didn't mean to offend. That comment was a reply to another conversation, and wasn't meant to come off that way.

  • @Zaxo117 But actually you're right in that those who don't do it as a career or minimally consistently aren't drummers per se in as much as they play drums. There's a big difference between someone who plays drums and a drummer just as there's a difference between an accountant who plays football and an actual football player. I've been writing for 14 years as a hobby, but am not a writer therefore I tell people I write but never say I'm a writer because my job title is something else.

  • Now I, as a metal person, got to start listening to Neal Morse music? Thanks Mike!!! Still, your DT music lives forever!

  • is the man!!

  • The Fucking MAN! Period

  • awesome

  • Mike Portnoy on drums : i've bought Neil Morse's album because of you. Glad to see you play again. You are the Phil Collins of metal/prog.

  • @carl13220 Phil Collins was in Genesis, they were one of the first Prog bands.

  • @drumdreamer92 I know about Collins and Genesis : i've just found a similar story : sometimes you buy a record because one specific musician is playing on it. Mike and Phil are good examples : they're so good that you'd like to get every record they've been playing on.

  • @carl13220 You know that Genesis and Phil Collins ARE progressive rock, right?

  • @Zeta9966 Yes i do.

  • @carl13220 Please don't insult the originality and innovations that Phil Collins contributed to drumming and drumming sounds to what Mike Portnoy does. really. It's insulting. Apples and oranges. Portnoy doesn't deserve to be in the same room let alone sentence as Phil.
