While I agree with the sentiment of this video because I am a Louisville fan, if you look at history since 1986, Louisville has yet to climb back up the mountain top they had ascended to at that time. The '90's were indeed a let down and Crum's tenure bottomed out in 2001. Pitino has done a great job in making Louisville relevant again on a national scale, but I do dream of more championships in the 2010's.
I'd say Indiana was the team of the 80's. Won as many titles and also had a team that kept them relevant into the 90's...it took Ricky P to get Louisville back to the Final Four.
UofL final fours in the 80's= 4, IU= 2. Both had two championships. Crum won coach of the year 3 times and had a winning record against Knight. It's not up for debate,UofL was voted on as the team of the 80's.
Fair enough. Don't know about all the backlash...but I can see how Louisville got the nod. Just saying...they didn't do much of anything after '86 though. It's a shame Georgetown lost to Villanova...because I think that was truly the program that represented the '80...black team with a black coach that didn't take shit off of anyone. Took an absurd game from 'Nova and a skinny kid named Jordan to stop GU from having three titles. Three measly points. But Dr. Dunk and Never Nervous deserve it
John Wooden, Denny Crum, and the other assistant coaches. That was the UCLA coaching staff for awhile and it was one of the best not only in college basketball history, but in all sports history. Wooden and Crum have 12 national titles and other Final Four appearances combined. Who agrees?
I would have never dreamed that 21 years later, we wouldn't have at least one more championship. The 90s were a disaster and Pitino hasn't made real progress in this decade. This video makes me eager to return to that level again soon!
Pitino has made tremendous progress. The program was in worse shape than anyone imagined. Pitino got us back on the national tongue. Just look at this years freshmen, they are beginning to play really good.A Final Four 2 years ago, and they could put a serious run tohether this year. Next years starting line-up; Williams, Sosa, Clark, Caracter, Palacios. I'm not worried.

Four Final Fours in six years! Period. I saw three in person. So the one and only Doctors of Dunk were definitely the team of the 1980's!
