I got about 3 minutes into the video and i was saying to myself "How do you get from talking about legalizing prostitution to speaking of the infrastructure of bridges and roads??"
I am tired of people just focusing on the women. There are men prostitutes too. Everyone sell themselves to a certain extent. When a woman accepts money for sex she is a "whore". But when a man pays for that "whore".....he doesn't look at himself as doing wrong. He just wants sex. That is the problem with some men today...if you gave them a choice between their legs and pussy, I am wiling to bet that there would be a lot of wheelchairs rolling . We need to focus on the violence involved

you supporters of legalization and taxation of prostitution in america DO REALIZE that it would mean the american government would be prostituting it's enthusiastic and willing citizens... for TAX money. that would be prostituting prostitution. O.o
i agree. MAKE THEM PAY to sit around all day, sucking dick. TAX IT.
You got to love how this guy talks about smart grids in terms of lines and transmitters? I thought smart grids relied on energy transmission and switching but what do I know. Im not a crack smoking fag from kenya.
@BrandonDaffodil "and with gambling, it's your money and you should be able to..." spend it on sex and drugs - which is exactly and precisely what so many people ALREADY DO.
If I was president that would be my job strategy. I smoke pot and visit prostitutes all the time. As president I would allow people to carry as much weed as they want and they would be able to grow many acres of pot. I would also allow brothels to be legal and would have many huge red light districs throughout the US. In my new US constitution there would be amendments saying that the state governments and the federal government cannot make pot or prostitution illegal ever again.
Legalizing pot is a no brainer, absolutely free the weed!
Prostitution? In my world sex is free.
Prostitution legal like baseball? You'll have pedophile fathers preparing their daughters for legitimate careers like pitching ball prepares their son for the big game? Prostitution schools? No thanks...too much like legal slavery to me.
Gambling is already legal for anyone 21 and over, so wtf does he mean?
@mskittyz100 love the baseball analogy, excellent!
if we envision our daughters with destinies to grow up to become "legal sex workers", something's REAL WRONG with that picture. we have to think of what's best for DAUGHTERS, growing up to become women... not whores. this ISN'T about a woman's right to be paid to suck dick. this is about a CHILD'S right to be born into a SANE world.
plus, the jealousies amongst women is NOT a hell i want to live in, or birth children into.
@mindnumber9 the baseball analogy is stupid, number one prostitution will go on, underground more dangerous, so we either protect them and the ones in the business or we dont. How stupid is his" ISN'T about a woman's right to be paid to suck dick" most women do it anyways. r u gonn criminalize all women?? they get paid in different ways. you are nothing but a closed minded piurotan. for other people its sane and normal. people own their bodies or they dont.
@Ddstairclimber a whore is a whore. there are natural consequences for that. prostitution can exist all it wants... it is still a crime, and that isn't ever gonna change. a whore will always be a whore. once a whore, always a whore. once a cheat, always a cheat. once a liar, always a liar. play now, pay later. wrong is wrong. get with the program.
@mindnumber9 its not a crime. Its a crime according to close minded piurotans and hypocrites. its legal in many palces in case you did not know. we all pay or get paid in one way or another.
@Ddstairclimber here's a clue: i'm not a hypocrite = i don't engage in the selling & buying. i say it's a crime because i happen to know that it IS. 666 = sickness & sex sells. it's a crime to sell it and a crime to buy it. ny ex-governor spitzer gets caught in a scandal involving prostitution. he betrayed his wife. he betrayed citizens. it is a great INSULT to the struggling working class, who had to see that a whore is earning 5K in a night of indulgent business with "the law". IT IS A CRIME.
@mindnumber9 What adults do in private is not your business. so you are suggesting cheating should be criminalize too?? thats nuts. If they would have kept their mouth shut nothing would have happened with spitzer. for you information in order to be a crime there neds to be a victim. in this case it was overpriced, but that is why legalization you can limit prices.
@Ddstairclimber it IS the public's right to know and in the case of spitzer, the public was the victim. and yes, cheating IS criminalized (that's known as grounds for DIVORCE). in saying "if they would have kept their mouth shut", you're suggesting is that "it's only illegal if you get caught" and that sort of mentality is detrimental AND uneducated. wishful thinking ISN'T going to change the truth. this conversation is over - get an education with your mind, not your sub-region.
@mindnumber9 how stupid " the public was teh victim", this was two adults private life. u and i are the public, how in hell are we getting hurt. Unless he was using money from the public, but otherwise is his privacy, as much as when you f#@%K someone, that is not my or anyone else's business. you need to get over your hypocresy and elevated sense of morality., if they would have kept their mouth shut
This is why I hate townhalls. It doesn't matter who is at the podium. They know what they're going to say. Any question with the word economy will be answered with a well rehearsed line about 'economic strategy' out of the politicians playbook. This kid could have asked Obama if he would authorize a military response to a Zombie Apocalypse and Obama would have talked for ten minutes about Iraq troop reductions, increased strength in Afghanistan, and improving relations with Pakistan.
@Bestmanme08 The book Obama:Why Black America Should Have Doubts (at amazon) shows this of him! And the book Ted Kenedy:The Eraly years shows Obama getting Kennedy help in getting elected! That book is also at amazon!
I love how he walks around the question...he talks about how PA needs to build up its infrastructure and how automation improved the economy! He talks for 10 minutes and never actually answers the question. And the drones in the audience clap and blindly listen.
Good question. Covered a popular topic in a funny kinda way. I don't agree with everything Obama says, or even a lot, but I'm looking forward to seeing the plans he's mentioned come into action.
This man is a liar and puppet. I voted for him, and I apologize for it to everyone. I'm tired of his rhetoric not matching his actions. Do what you said you were going to when you ran for office: Don't use signing statements, executive orders, and bring us the hell out of Iraq. Period, end of story. If you don't then you are carrying on the same policy as the previous administration, which you are. Why? Because you have been bought and paid for by corporate and banking entities.
everytime is see the lady in the purple standing next to the guy that asked the question... im like fuck you. if the stuff that is legalized it will boost the econmy greatly. legal pot and gambling will bring in millions of dollars into the govt.
The fact that Obama is laughing at the college students question is insulting. He had the balls to say that in front of all those people, give him some common courtesy.
Also Obama, laugh at Chomsky when he tells you to legalize cannabis.
obama has never seen....tasted....nor heard of anything remotely related to wisdom in any way in my opinion. Muslims are devoid of all wisdom for the sake of following the false pediphile prophet ...mohamed.
Hahahaha, Obama, you're so fuckin' funny. Why don't you just answer the question of legalizing drugs, instead of digressing? Why not just once you even give a reason why you're so opposed to legalizing Marijuana?
Sorry to be preachy but our country wastes BILLIONS of your and my dollars on "crimes" that involve consenting adults and if practiced safely and in moderation hurt no one. But instead we start drug wars and let our own desire for drugs fund terrorists. I just doesn't make any sense. I just hope this debate continues and politicians begin to listen.
In regards to prostitution, if it were legal, it wouldn't be happening on corners but rather in legally sanctioned brothels like in Amsterdam. Prostitutes would be required to practice safe sex and submit to periodic health screenings to prevent the spread of AIDS. This also protects these women/men who currently suffer approx one random beating a month, not to mention the occasional Ted Bundy/Jeffrey Dahmer. This would further bankrupt the violent pimps and gangs in the US.
Furthermore, if other countries were allowed to legalize the production and distribution of drugs, such as Mexico and Afghanistan, drugs would stop being used to fund anti-American organizations the Cartels and Al Queda, which make millions from selling illegal drugs to the US and Europe. It would also increase trade, leading to better international relations. Just because they are legalized doesn't mean we would publicly condone it, like alcohol or cigarettes.
Hey jacked, do u ever see beer or cigarette deals or beer related crimes? no because they are legal drugs that people can buy at the corner store and half the price goes to taxes. If we legalize drugs we could regulated them, making them safer, and tax them making us wealthier. Not to mention stop paying for the 55 million fed. prisoners with drug charges we now house, the wars we fight in other countries like Columbia. Plus, it would pretty much bankrupt all violent gangs in the US,
People are under the impression that legal prostitution stimulates girls to sell their bodies for money. Do you not understand that prostitution is already happening.. everywhere? Legalizing it makes the girls who have already decided to do this safer. Don't get me wrong, I think it's disgusting for men to pay for sex and humiliating for women to get paid for sex! But having it be illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen.
drug dealers would be bankrupt, because pharmacies would be selling marijuana. Prostitutes would be on the corner, they would be in a brothel or some other sort of building. You dont undestand economics or the free-market AT ALL.
I really do like this guys question. I don't necessarily agree with the extreme of legalizing all non violent crimes, but it's definitely a debate that should be had. This says a lot about the narrow discourse in our politics.
Well....he did answer the question. He said it would not be part of his job creation strategy. Perhaps not a satisfactory answer, but an answer nonetheless. You might want to pay attention next time rather than look for an excuse to be offended.
That wasn't the question. He asked if Obama had checked out the statistics on legalizing non-violent crimes in order to stimulate the economy. Obama never gave any indication whether he looked at the statistics or not. Whether legalizing non-violent crime is part of his strategy has nothing to do with the question.
Oh I see, you wanted Obama to talk about his college days when he inhaled like that kid, and most of us...I getcha now.....see whether Obama questioned conventional wisdom about the economies of crime at Harvard law school.
No, I wanted him to answer the question. I still don't know whether he's even seen the statistics that the person in the audience was asking about. The answer should have started out "No, I haven't seen the statistics." or "Yes, I have seen the statistics."
Perhaps this alternative would have also satiated you.
"Yes, I went to Harvard Law School, it doesn't compare to your lovely community collage and it's world class staff, but Yes, I had a 2nd year criminology course, I admit I was a little red eyed at the time, but I've seen the stats, Dude"
or
"No, I had an aroma therapy course at Harvard as a substitute for my 2nd year criminology course, besides stats really harsh my mellow"
Most law schools don't teach courses in criminology. That's kind of an undergrad thing. Law schools teach courses in criminal law and criminal procedure, but those courses don't really delve into policy or statistics that much.
Any one who blows off this question as a dumb idea obviously hasn't seen the studies...by saying you want these things illegal you are saying you can't make your own life decisions and are quick to tell others how they should make their life decisions. I appreciate all those that can think for themselves outside the illuminati created box to see when we're being taken advantage of. Power to the people!
I am proud to say I asked this question to president Obama. Had he said what the statistics say, he would show that legalization would generate a huge boom in the economy, but money is the root of all evil... it's more about freedom, i asked that question so people realize there is too much regulation and every day we are under more and more control. I hate the thought of hard drugs, sluts, and greedy people... however, I believe in freedom and if I'm gonna be free then everyone should be free.
Allowing people to make their own decisions about their own bodies? Legalizing freedom? Legalizing personal responsibility??? Is that guy really suggesting we stop the costly government nanny state and make black markets legitimate markets? Preposterous!
Any economist can tell you that the DECRIMINALIZATION and regulation of drugs, prostitution, gambling, and the end of serving time for victimless crimes would create a huge stimulation towards our economy. The only thing restricting it is different opinions on what is morally right. But I think we should all agree that if we eliminate punishments for victimless crimes (or better yet make all victimless criminals just pay a giant fine without serving jailtime) we could all stand to gain from it.
None of the could be accepted (people who gamble can't control themselves , most of the time, drugs wouldn't be good for the health system & non-violent crime, lol, not even question, and porstitution is just a source of AIDS and other horrible diseases)
@budbadbig If people could learn how to discipline themselves gambling wouldn't be an issue. A great deal of people can gamble without spending all their money. If our drug policy was that of Belgium's, there would be a decrease in non-violent crime (the government weens people off drugs that cause violent crime in hospital-esque facilities). Prostitution if regulated in the fashion of some legal brothels we already have in America, would not cause a spread of STDs, and could lower rape cases.
Flooding the economy with trillions of dollars of so-called stimulus does not increase wealth. It decreases the value of each individual dollar relative to goods and services. Spending money at a mall does not create wealth, spending money is a REWARD for having created wealth. Wealth is created through production. To become wealthier we must invest in reopening our factories and producing goods here in America.
@nineteeneightyfour99 The age of production being a good source of income has ended, the greed of companies and exploitation of the free market has made it impossible for the US to become wealthy except for the top %2 who own %95 of the currency. It's a damn shame too.
"money exchanging hands" is a definition of economy. "
Well, money exchanges hands quite frequently in Zimbabwe too. Money is a representation of goods and services, and all of the things of value in our lives. The real value or "wealth" lies in the goods and services, not in the money. Money is simply an agreed upon standard by which to facilitate trade. Increasing the supply of money either by creating money as bank credit or by physically printing money, does not increase wealth.
As far as pot legalize it already. I've never understood the ban on pot. It's a plant, how can a politician ban a plant for a citizen? A plant doesn't belong to anyone to ban in the first place. It's as ridiculous as banning people from fishing in the Pacific Ocean.
Peter Schiff says our economy is declining because we do not produce as much as used to, and that real wealth comes from production rather than consumption.
I don't see how girls selling themselves "stimulates the economy." It's just money exchanging hands. It doesn't create food or goods.
We have to begin building factories in America again. It's depressing, "Let's let girls sell themselves to stimulate the economy." This is what children are being taught? Awful.
"money exchanging hands" is a definition of economy. That's precisely what the government is trying to stimulate with the "stimulus." They want money to go around, rather than sitting in bank accounts or locked safes.
I think you have the wrong idea of what an economic system is, however I do sincerely agree that prostitution should not even be considered as an option.
The troops have no business over there! We've killed almost a thousands Pakistani civilians! If another nation had so much as a ship in the gulf of mexico we'd consider it an act of war! Yet we have bases in 130 nations! What don't you get? Besides this should be about Obama's awful social policy.
Obama has out-bushed bush on, especially on rendition! Is bombing innocent pakistanis not a war crime? All he has to do is decide if detainees were captured for a reason, if so try them-this all within his constitutionally defined powers. There is no evidence that Iran is arming weapons-they're a 3rd world nation! They can't even secure oil for themselves!
Its none of the governments business what we do in private. How can you wage war against inanimate substances that have a temporary effect on the mind? This is a war against personal and private behavior of adults. Its time to rethink the cost vs benefit factor of enforcing morals.
He extended and expanded the patriot act. He's threatened Iran with economic sanctions, which is an act of war. He authorized the bombing of villages in pakistan. I agree with his policy on trying KSM in a civilian court. But his change in torture is to say its unacceptable, close down a prison and still hold 200+ people without trial. He offers no real change socially, economically or otherwise. He's supports the status quo, for big business and military industrial complex.
SonicYouth, that is the most discriminatory, stupid and hateful thing I've read in a long time. Are you seriously telling me that people different than you shouldn't be allowed to "walk around everywhere"? it's not "nice" to you?
Good video, I just wish Obama would stop pandering to discrimination and try to at least provide a good answer to a good question.
I've never been. My parents have when they visited my sister in germany, and said they didn't even notice anything about drugs really-more things about sex. They said they saw a lot of counter culture types. Having potheads everywhere isn't nice? What does that even mean? I live by beale street in Memphis tn and will say alcoholics walking around everywhere isn't nice, but I'd never think the solution is to criminalize substances
Why is it that people who have never known a prostitute want to legalize prostitution? These girls have some real serious mental problems and drug addiction problems. It's not as simple as spreading their legs and getting it over with, it's about a lot of emotional damage that has been done over many years. But just like drug addictions, liberals would rather ignore and allow the problem to continue instead of helping the people with the problem.
WTF, you were making such and excellent point about prostitution and the violation it is to a persons humanity, something that reduces the humanity of us all...and then you disgard so cheaply your alies, who happen to be progressive, just to make some ridiculous blanket political statement.
You don't have to be religious, or conservative, to understand that parsing out pieces of our humanity for sale, is wrong, and should, in a free society, be unlawful.
Oh, thats right liberals are the bastion of all morality. So, why is it that so many liberals support prostitution and the legalization of many drugs, Please, don't attempt to make liberals out to be something they are not. If you are a liberal and find problem with prostitution then maybe your not as progressive as you thought you were.
I'm a liberal and I don't support prostitution. However I do see a problem with a system which outlaws drugs like marijuana and has resulted in the death of thousands, not as the result of a overdose, but because of drug lords who want a piece of the high cost of drugs in the United States. I'm not sure if it's right to use drugs but I do know I don't support the death of innocent people. The prohibition of alcohol didn't work and it seems to me that keeping marijuana illegal isn't working.
Oh, yea, that's right, it's always someone else, it's always the other guy's fault....
YOU see, what YOU want to see. Do you ever consider that YOU are using the simplest terms and the most convenient definitions, to catagorize others into a specific often oversimplified category. Your understanding, of that which you are not, may be false, and is your own failing.
Great question as the CIA already uses much of the income of those trades to finace their black opts. They are deindustrializes America. Manufacturing is out, so go to another country to make a living.
we've already prostituted our jobs to other countries, we have big pharma , and we have a stock market for the gambling addicts. so to answer the kids question. all the things you have mentioned are already legal. just in an uncoventional form. think outside the box.
Agreed, People just don't see the real damage this does to our society.. All the way from Parents selling their young kids for sex to the thousands of young women being sold on the human trafficking market. And the drug problems of thousands of homeless that never get mentioned when people bring up the legalize argument. Addicts need help not encouragement.
first of all, alcohol is more addictive than marijuana. Tat is scientifically proven. Next, Wwhat about all the damage that prohibition does, like supporting the drug cartels, jailing millions of non-violent criminals, costing billions of dollars. Next, should we outlaw Mcdonalds, that is worse, more addicting, and more socially-ostracizing than marijuana.
You have to understand my feelings and opinions about prostitution come from an intense love for women, and desire to protect their humanity.
Sexuality is unique to the individual, our expressions of love and lust, it's part of our humanity, not a commodity, and should not be parsed out and sold.

I say we legalize freedom, I dont even know why we are debating this. Why do u care what I choose to do with my body? and along with that please legalize the sale of body organs, blood and the sale of horse meat.
...no idea how non-violent crime would help the economy...but it was kind of a bush-esque response...entirely dodge the actual question to plug your agenda...obviously hes going to do that cause hes the president....but it does make him look kind of silly :P
obviously the kid was hinting at legalizing and taxing marijuana to stimulate the economy...kinda wish he touched on that..
Legalize those things and ACORN would go from human scum to business mentors.
This would make those videos of ACORN employees conspiring to run a whore house of minor illegal aliens into a new version of the Small Business Administration.
he's talking to us like we have no intuition as if we cannot intuit things about what he's saying. i can't believe a HUMAN BEING has resorted to behaving the way Obama's prescense is in this video. his energy is so unnatural and it makes me sick that you have all allowed for this guy to rule/influence your one sacred life on earth.
OMG is this for real. OBAMA is a joke, a complete laugh.
Wow people are laughing. Lets just say, wow I wonder if he put all these morons there. Looks like you couldn't get a ticket to this event unless you voted for Obama.
The answer was given in the beginning, Obama said,"that will not be my job stratagy" then went on to talk about infrastructure as a more long term economic stratagy.
No thanks...too much like legal slavery to me.

is slavery getting paid for services? no. If that were true, then im sure you are a slave. Would you ever keep having sex with a moderatly attractive women, if you didnt shower them in gifts. If you have, you are a better man than I.
That doesnt matter, it is their choice to do it. It doesnt matter what your personal convictions on the matter are. It is their choice and only their choice. It is in no way your choice, what they do with their body. If you deprive them of the right to sell their sex, then you are more of a slave-master then somebody who pays her for it.
Sex is free and freely given, taking it without consent is rape.
What you are purchasing is consent, which is coercion, like bribery, and is a crime.
Anything that can be purchased has a monetary value, and therefore subject to the crime of theft.
Consent is priceless, it is the bases of all our freedoms, to purchase consent or forcibly take it, is enslavement and/or rape, and a crime against one's humanity.
When the humanity of even one person is compromised, it is crime against us all.
Plagiarism is academic dishonesty and subject to academic censure, but not a crime.
Copyrights infringement violates an entities exclusive rights, often equated with "theft", but legally does not constitute stolen property.
You are injecting a fallacious analogy. It's a strawman.
Legalizing prostitution, marketing sex as a service, puts a legal monetizes value on sex just like all other goods and services...it becomes my proverbial lawnmower. It wouldn't just reduce rapes, it eliminates them.
@HeathenRage So if I have a lot of money, does that mean i cant marry a girl whose income is substantially lower? because I would be coercing her? she is still making a decision. Of courese money gives power, but you can be exploited in many different ways, if you work for someone rich long hours you are being exploited. are you gonna sue them. get real, dont be stupid aand irrational
Don't confuse compliance with consent, they are not the same thing. Consent, like sex is free and freely given, where-as compliance and control can be achieved with the use of power in it's many forms, money being just one.
Prostitutes are not giving consent, they are being compliant, yielding to the power of money and accepting compensation for the violations to their personhood.
1:29 three dumb whores laughing like it isn't a valid question. GO to Afghanistan and take a bullet to the head.

It's there body, and as long as it's consensual.

Ddstairclimber 10 months ago
@Ddstairclimber here's a clue: i'm not a hypocrite = i don't engage in the selling & buying. i say it's a crime because i happen to know that it IS. 666 = sickness & sex sells. it's a crime to sell it and a crime to buy it. ny ex-governor spitzer gets caught in a scandal involving prostitution. he betrayed his wife. he betrayed citizens. it is a great INSULT to the struggling working class, who had to see that a whore is earning 5K in a night of indulgent business with "the law". IT IS A CRIME.
mindnumber9 10 months ago
@mindnumber9 What adults do in private is not your business. so you are suggesting cheating should be criminalize too?? thats nuts. If they would have kept their mouth shut nothing would have happened with spitzer. for you information in order to be a crime there neds to be a victim. in this case it was overpriced, but that is why legalization you can limit prices.
Ddstairclimber 10 months ago

This is why I hate townhalls. It doesn't matter who is at the podium. They know what they're going to say. Any question with the word economy will be answered with a well rehearsed line about 'economic strategy' out of the politicians playbook. This kid could have asked Obama if he would authorize a military response to a Zombie Apocalypse and Obama would have talked for ten minutes about Iraq troop reductions, increased strength in Afghanistan, and improving relations with Pakistan.

mplsman1 2 years ago
In regards to prostitution, if it were legal, it wouldn't be happening on corners but rather in legally sanctioned brothels like in Amsterdam. Prostitutes would be required to practice safe sex and submit to periodic health screenings to prevent the spread of AIDS. This also protects these women/men who currently suffer approx one random beating a month, not to mention the occasional Ted Bundy/Jeffrey Dahmer. This would further bankrupt the violent pimps and gangs in the US.
mplsman1 2 years ago
Furthermore, if other countries were allowed to legalize the production and distribution of drugs, such as Mexico and Afghanistan, drugs would stop being used to fund anti-American organizations the Cartels and Al Queda, which make millions from selling illegal drugs to the US and Europe. It would also increase trade, leading to better international relations. Just because they are legalized doesn't mean we would publicly condone it, like alcohol or cigarettes.
mplsman1 2 years ago
Hey jacked, do u ever see beer or cigarette deals or beer related crimes? no because they are legal drugs that people can buy at the corner store and half the price goes to taxes. If we legalize drugs we could regulated them, making them safer, and tax them making us wealthier. Not to mention stop paying for the 55 million fed. prisoners with drug charges we now house, the wars we fight in other countries like Columbia. Plus, it would pretty much bankrupt all violent gangs in the US,

Legalizing prostitution doesn't mean people agree with it, it's just making the best out of an inevitable situation.
elfi1989 2 years ago
People are under the impression that legal prostitution stimulates girls to sell their bodies for money. Do you not understand that prostitution is already happening.. everywhere? Legalizing it makes the girls who have already decided to do this safer. Don't get me wrong, I think it's disgusting for men to pay for sex and humiliating for women to get paid for sex! But having it be illegal doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

That wasn't the question. He asked if Obama had checked out the statistics on legalizing non-violent crimes in order to stimulate the economy. Obama never gave any indication whether he looked at the statistics or not. Whether legalizing non-violent crime is part of his strategy has nothing to do with the question.
MasterMoron 2 years ago
Oh I see, you wanted Obama to talk about his college days when he inhaled like that kid, and most of us...I getcha now.....see whether Obama questioned conventional wisdom about the economies of crime at Harvard law school.

HeathenRage 2 years ago
No, I wanted him to answer the question. I still don't know whether he's even seen the statistics that the person in the audience was asking about. The answer should have started out "No, I haven't seen the statistics." or "Yes, I have seen the statistics."
MasterMoron 2 years ago
Thanks for the clarification.
HeathenRage 2 years ago
Most law schools don't teach courses in criminology. That's kind of an undergrad thing. Law schools teach courses in criminal law and criminal procedure, but those courses don't really delve into policy or statistics that much.
MasterMoron 2 years ago
Any one who blows off this question as a dumb idea obviously hasn't seen the studies...by saying you want these things illegal you are saying you can't make your own life decisions and are quick to tell others how they should make their life decisions. I appreciate all those that can think for themselves outside the illuminati created box to see when we're being taken advantage of. Power to the people!
J2ason22 2 years ago
I am proud to say I asked this question to president Obama. Had he said what the statistics say, he would show that legalization would generate a huge boom in the economy, but money is the root of all evil... it's more about freedom, i asked that question so people realize there is too much regulation and every day we are under more and more control. I hate the thought of hard drugs, sluts, and greedy people... however, I believe in freedom and if I'm gonna be free then everyone should be free.
J2ason22 2 years ago
Allowing people to make their own decisions about their own bodies? Legalizing freedom? Legalizing personal responsibility??? Is that guy really suggesting we stop the costly government nanny state and make black markets legitimate markets? Preposterous!
Joe77477 2 years ago 14
Any economist can tell you that the DECRIMINALIZATION and regulation of drugs, prostitution, gambling, and the end of serving time for victimless crimes would create a huge stimulation towards our economy. The only thing restricting it is different opinions on what is morally right. But I think we should all agree that if we eliminate punishments for victimless crimes (or better yet make all victimless criminals just pay a giant fine without serving jailtime) we could all stand to gain from it.
Apparatus316 2 years ago
None of the could be accepted (people who gamble can't control themselves , most of the time, drugs wouldn't be good for the health system & non-violent crime, lol, not even question, and porstitution is just a source of AIDS and other horrible diseases)
budbadbig 2 years ago
@budbadbig If people could learn how to discipline themselves gambling wouldn't be an issue. A great deal of people can gamble without spending all their money. If our drug policy was that of Belgium's, there would be a decrease in non-violent crime (the government weens people off drugs that cause violent crime in hospital-esque facilities). Prostitution if regulated in the fashion of some legal brothels we already have in America, would not cause a spread of STDs, and could lower rape cases.

Peter Schiff explains what's truly ailing our economy, and how to correct it:
watch?v=ZSXntpfwaDE
nineteeneightyfour99 2 years ago
Flooding the economy with trillions of dollars of so-called stimulus does not increase wealth. It decreases the value of each individual dollar relative to goods and services. Spending money at a mall does not create wealth, spending money is a REWARD for having created wealth. Wealth is created through production. To become wealthier we must invest in reopening our factories and producing goods here in America.
nineteeneightyfour99 2 years ago
@nineteeneightyfour99 The age of production being a good source of income has ended, the greed of companies and exploitation of the free market has made it impossible for the US to become wealthy except for the top %2 who own %95 of the currency. It's a damn shame too.
Apparatus316 2 years ago
"money exchanging hands" is a definition of economy. "
Well, money exchanges hands quite frequently in Zimbabwe too. Money is a representation of goods and services, and all of the things of value in our lives. The real value or "wealth" lies in the goods and services, not in the money. Money is simply an agreed upon standard by which to facilitate trade. Increasing the supply of money either by creating money as bank credit or by physically printing money, does not increase wealth.
nineteeneightyfour99 2 years ago
As far as pot legalize it already. I've never understood the ban on pot. It's a plant, how can a politician ban a plant for a citizen? A plant doesn't belong to anyone to ban in the first place. It's as ridiculous as banning people from fishing in the Pacific Ocean.
nineteeneightyfour99 2 years ago
Peter Schiff says our economy is declining because we do not produce as much as used to, and that real wealth comes from production rather than consumption.
I don't see how girls selling themselves "stimulates the economy." It's just money exchanging hands. It doesn't create food or goods.
We have to begin building factories in America again. It's depressing, "Let's let girls sell themselves to stimulate the economy." This is what children are being taught? Awful.
nineteeneightyfour99 2 years ago
"money exchanging hands" is a definition of economy. That's precisely what the government is trying to stimulate with the "stimulus." They want money to go around, rather than sitting in bank accounts or locked safes.
I think you have the wrong idea of what an economic system is, however I do sincerely agree that prostitution should not even be considered as an option.

Oh, thats right liberals are the bastion of all morality. makeinstall 2 years ago

What other stolen services do you also consider rape?

HeathenRage 2 years ago
That doesnt matter, it is their choice to do it. It doesnt matter what your personal convictions on the matter are. It is their choice and only their choice. It is in no way your choice, what they do with their body. If you deprive them of the right to sell their sex, then you are more of a slave-master then somebody who pays her for it.
ADlibertyRP 2 years ago
Sex is free and freely given, taking it without consent is rape.
What you are purchasing is consent, which is coercion, like bribery, and is a crime.
Anything that can be purchased has a monetary value, and therefore subject to the crime of theft.
Consent is priceless, it is the bases of all our freedoms, to purchase consent or forcibly take it, is enslavement and/or rape, and a crime against one's humanity.
When the humanity of even one person is compromised, it is crime against us all.
HeathenRage 2 years ago
Prostitution in a free-market would be completely voluntary on all levels.
So when you go into a barber shopand pay for a hair-cut, That isnt buying consent?
ADlibertyRP 2 years ago
I asked you, "What if you steal services, in this case sex, is that a crime of rape or theft" you said, "both"
I asked you, "What other stolen services do you also consider rape"
Are you now saying that stealing a haircut from a barber is also both rape and stealing?
Why is stealing sexual services both rape and theft? But stealing a haircut from a barber just stealing?
What is the distinction?
HeathenRage 2 years ago
why is that thievery of ideas is also called plagiarism?

It's not...and this is clearly an attemp at a diversion to a strawman argument.
Stealing a service can never be rape as you well know.
Legalizing "the service of sex" as you put it, leaves all women subject to having their sexuality stolen, even those that are not selling it.
Just like my lawnmower can be stolen from me even if I don't sell lawnmowers.

its not a strawman, it is an analogy.
stealing sex is rape, as i do well know.
Legalizining prostitution would make the number of actual rapes go down.
Just like women can already be raped even thought they are not selling sex.

"It wouldn't just reduce rapes, it eliminates them."
Not even close, rape isn't about sex it's about power and control. Try and do some research abnout this and get back to me.

Violating another person's humanity is all about power and control, in all it's forms.
Like the power and control drugs gives you over another person, or
the power and control physical strength gives you to just do whatever you want to another person, or
the power and control money gives you to coerce those people whom would otherwise not give consent, into being compliant.
