@volvoxmusix I don't remember exactly but it was in the early 2000s. My computer was compatible, but the HDD wasn't big enough so I had to boot them from the CD.
@NintyFan56 I looked it up. it was '98 =) I i used to have a 386 very long, so i envied people with better racks :) and now i can play skyrim on ultra :) ~ but it's not the same feeling i had back then ^__^
Well the soundtrack is Descent into Cerberon by Sonic Mayhem, I still have those cds from him, i recommend alot his albums "Music for Visual Media" and "Quake 3 Arena: Noise". And this game was Epic, no game was really close to this. Ahhh I miss my Rocket Arena 2 Clan Matchs where real skillz and ping where everything =)
Doea it work on wondows 7? I knew of ground zero when i was a kid but not of reckoning too. Now I wanna play this too and I wanna know if it runs on windows 7:) can any1 tell me? Thanks
and i remember that in this expansion there is another type of gladiator, that have cell armor and fires mag slugs instead of railgun , like the weapon in 1:23 , that gladiator was fucking hard to beat D:<
@PeperoBoy yeah me too, i installed this expansion wondering that i will join human teams to fight stroggos, but the only time that you saw one they are with the data cd but they die in the second that you saw them by an explosion
but by the way, i enjoyed this expansion its cool :D
both mission packs suck, the levels are boring and confusing, neither of them compare to the solid gameplay of the original Quake 2, trust me it's not worth the time looking for it. I recommend playing Quake 2 with the EGL mod, because of it's over the top gore system.
I think this video makes it seem as if all a person has to do is run around and shoot at things. No. That's not how the game is. You have to plan your attacks. You can't just run out into the open and shoot at your enemies. Your enemies will have you surrounded within a matter of seconds if you do that.
I meant Gladiators. The Gladiators are the guys that strut around on two big legs. They usually have railguns instead of guns that fire magnesium slugs. The "Ground Zero" mission pack is alright, but there are little automated guns in every doorway. It's almost impossible to keep from getting zapped by one every time you walk through a doorway.
This is not a mod. This is an expansion pack for Quake 2. I think you can order it from Amazon. Quake 2 has to be installed on your computer before you can use it. I know it works with Windows 95 and 98, but it might not work with Windows XP.
@carlitoxxe I bought a new computer last week with Windows 7 installed. Quake 2 will work with Windows 7 too, and I don't have to use compatibility mode. Quake 2 uses Open GL. I still have a lot of old software that won't work with Windows 7, but Quake 2 does. The Quake 2 mission packs work too.
I remember playing this game for the first time. I was blown away by the graphics. It's definitely an experience. Some of the Gladiotars have Power Shields, and they fire Mag Slugs at you. Mag Slugs look like huge fireballs coming at you. Don't get hit with those Mag Slugs. They will reduce you to a steaming pile of flesh in no time at all. For me, everything after Quake 2 was deja vu all over again with slightly better graphics. Save the human race before it's too late.
dam I have the mission pack - the reckoning and ground zero and both get errors when i go to install them.. ahhh i dont get? quake 2works tho. im on xp aswell, any ideas???
This was a great expansion IMHO. Even though Ground Zero offered more action, the level design in The Reckoning made far more sense. I can remember those outside levels back then. I enjoyed playing it although I got Unreal around the same time, so it took quite a long time before I finished the game. Loved the Moon Base levels at the end.
Just beat this expansion the other day. Freaking awesome. I'm struggling to keep myself interested while playing Ground Zero. I don't like it as much so far.
The only thing that I found a letdown in the Reckoning is the wussy Makron at the end.
The extra weapons in this one beat Ground Zero's hands down.
what's the story in this Mission Pack? In Ground Zero you had to destroy Gravity Well. What about Reckoning? What kind of stupidity did the Strogg make?
Guys.. what is this?? A mod?!!! A expansion pack?!!! The Story Continues?!!! Plz tell me I wanna get evrey missionpack that Quake 2 has!! I ve only played Quake 2... and passed it of course.. I want to find out more about this... I was a kid when I passed this game... good times...
This game is the best.. More than call of duty jeje jk but its cool

Agreed, the mission packs are just straight forward killing. It works well for Quake 1, but Quake 2 needs balanced gameplay and interesting levels.

No way, the Reckoning is better. But Ground Zero had WAY more cool ideas, monsters and weapons. Still, I think the Reckoning is better.
