if you condition your malt before crushing you get a much nicer crush, the hulls stay intact and that makes for a nice grain bed to lauter through. another benefit is you can tighten up the crush to get even better efficiency for a given amount of grain. i use a spray bottle of water with about 4 oz of water or so per 10lb of grain. the grain should feel kind of leathery, not too wet or your rollers will gum up fast. done right the grain leaves the rollers nice and clean with not sticking.

i use the stainless steel toliet supply line in my mash tuns.Just dont use bleach to clean it..will rust on ya..Nice vid.
