I really don't know why Devia hasn't devoted more of her time to Baroque opera. She was born to sing this kind of music!

Totally agree, she could have excelled in this style....but I saw an interview with her somewhere on youtube a while back where she indicated that she really wasn´ t very interrested in this repertory...

As gorgeous as this is, she said in an interview the baroque repertoire doesn't mean anything to her....

I don't think she could have done much with it anyways. She's too much of a Bel Canto voice.. Mozart is already a bit stretch.. as far as my taste goes..

When she was a young singer, baroque operas were rare on Italian (or any) stages - this is a very recent phenomenon, and she has had her schedule full of bel canto commitments. Baroque needed her more than she needed it. She would have had to retrain at 40, and baroque had nothing much to offer her for that. Her lack of interest is perfectly comprehensible.

N.Stutzmann voice is quite extraordinary and rare!I have most of her recordings and was very pleased when heard her performing life!Love her interpretations of F. Schubert and R.Schumann!
