Thor and the rest of Asgard went MIA due to Ragnarok. Stark and Reid Richards wound up cloning Thor, and in Thor #3, confronts Stark about his "friend" cloning him. However it was a limited print because Iron man was coming out and Thor kicking their new cash cow poster boy's ass would have been bad for marketing.
They had the civil war because some no name group of teenage superheroes blew up an elementary school and so there was a big call to have anyone with super powers register and become regulated by the government. Cap was against, Iron Man was for.
More or less they tried to do to everyone what they've been trying to do to mutants from the x-verse for decades.

Not really. Caps points were all valid. Iron mans reasons (in the comics) are thinly veiled cowardice. You cannot simply give in to public fear, seeing as the whole superhuman registration act was a foolish idea. It negates the point of heroes morality, which sets them FAAARRR above the self serving and corrupt politicians.

The registration act was foolish but war was not the answer. The entire war Ironman offered captain america peace and he refused. Waiting only untill he knew that he was leading the super hero comunity into hell. So far there has been no huge problems with registered meta-humans.

I could be wrong, but I think this is based off of "Civil War: Casualties of War" where Iron Man and Cap Meet in Private after Clone Thor kills that dude (Goliath?) and they have a hand to hand combat fight where Cap clearly outfights Tony (He discarded his Iron Man armor) but it ends with them just walking away from each other. Happens before the Civil War ends and Cap is shot. This vid isn't exactly like the issue ofcourse but seems to have a similar idea
Actually in the final showdown Cap beat Ironman by deflecting his repulsor rays back in his face and he was about to kill Tony when he realized the damage being done by the civil war so he unmasked and surrendered and then was shot on the steps of the courthouse.

The registration act gave the skrull easier access to information about the superheroes of the Marvel universe.
Of course many suspected that the Skrull helped the civil war along in small ways.

Don't forget that in the end you should follow your own conscience first, and any other force second.
This does mean that there are going to be conflicts, but most of them can be resolved through negotiation.
I'm afraid I still admire Steve Rogers, as throughout the war he was true to his conscience instead of mindlessly obeying.
Of course if house of M hadn't happened then superhuman numbers would have been greater and the SHRA would have been nigh impossible to implement.

Civil War was promsied as an event that would shalke the Marvel universes foundations, if Iron Man had lost it would mean the contuance of status quo and be just another "vs". And besides, does anyone really believe the cap is gonna stay dead?

Wow this vid is all kinds of ass backwards. It was teh other way around and the other dude is right,iron man beats captain america but he dosnt kill him. Captain America gets shot right after the battle,by some assassain.

I could be wrong, but I think this is based off of "Civil War: Casualties of War" where Iron Man and Cap Meet in Private after Clone Thor kills that dude (Goliath?) and they have a hand to hand combat fight where Cap clearly outfights Tony (He discarded his Iron Man armor) but it ends with them just walking away from each other. Happens before the Civil War ends and Cap is shot. This vid isn't exactly like the issue ofcourse but seems to have a similar idea

Actually in the final showdown Cap beat Ironman by deflecting his repulsor rays back in his face and he was about to kill Tony when he realized the damage being done by the civil war so he unmasked and surrendered and then was shot on the steps of the courthouse.

You're right,people are remembering other Cap vs. Ironman encounters throughout Civil War.The is no sequel yet(an alternate ending in What IF the WW Hulk and The Initiative)Yes,cap beat Tony and was going to finish him but instead surrendered when civilians tried to stop him and he did it to protect everyone in true Cap style.

I hope they make Civil War into a movie but I can't see that happening. They'd have to get different actors to play the same characters as the individual franchises simultaneously rolled along.

in a perfect world, if they made civil war into a movie, and they made it word for word the same as the comic book, everyone would hate it because they would have to do the death of cap at the end and everyone would hate it and marvel would realize they were wrong to have iron man win. joe quesada would be fired and ed brubaker would have his eisner taken away, or at least given to him for like messiah complex, deadly genesis, rise & fall of the shi ar empire, or cap 1-24.

If Michael Medved had the influence that he thinks he has (and he shouldn't), Quesada would have been fired for publishing Captain America: Red, White & Blue! But I would fire him for destroying Spider-Man/Peter Parker's life AND marriage.
