Just tried it out and it looks great! However, my hair was a bit long for this style, so what I ended up doing was when I finished twisting the sides, I braided the bottoms and pulled it up. It looks cute with the crossing braids on the bottom in the back :)

@atlantis2339 the tighter you twist each section the longer it lasts, also i found using textured (unbrushed) hair kept mine in all day with help of some extra grips/clips.

@xomandaa26xo try doing this hairstyle with some grease in your hair. don't wash it for a day or two. you can also give it texture with a dry shampoo. hope that helps.

Success!! I am biracial with coarse hair that I relax, but it's still frizzy and a mess if I don't blowdry and flat iron it. When I did this, my hair was washed and I added some shine serum, to help detangle a bit, and let it mostly air dry (ie, POOF OUT), then I tried this. It worked well, but my hair did NOT separate as easily as I proceeded so it took a little more work and hand skill, but it turned out nicely. THANK you for giving me a hair style I can actually do with very frizzy hair!!!

I think it's real cute, but it takes more than texture to make something like this look nice in my nail straight hair. That hair (even if it's real fine and soft) is impossible. When I see something like pretty twists or twisted updo's, I really envy those with beautiful African American (or African-Something-Else for that matter! :) ) hair! I couldn't believe my eyes the first time I saw some African-Norwegian kids with lots of twists, with NO elastics holding it in place - and it was PERFECT!

It's not that hard as long as you understand the basic concept of a french braid and have some mousse or something to give your hair a little bit of texture. Doing this with "dirty" hair helps as well.

i did the twist really messy and it still looks pretty. instead of doing just half your hair put it all on one side and grab big pieces when doing the twist then when you get to ear level and have some hair that hasn't gone into the twist yet just take that strand and the 2 existing strands from the twist and braid it :)
