  • i have a bamboo tablet and I cant do part 2. And would this work with other applications?

  • @GriffonProductions pencil should have sensitivity all ready

  • could you do a tutorial on how to use the latest version gimp for mac ? :)

  • Alright. I did all this but now my mouse isnt working for some reason. I like using my mouse pad sometimes instead of the tablet. I don't know what to do D:

  • @TomWellingFan09 That's a problem I haven't been able to fix, unfortunately. I guess GIMP can only focus on the Tablet or mouse at a single time. To fix it, just go to Input Devices, and hit Reset Saved Input Device Settings to Default Values or something along those lines. That should put the focus on the mouse again =/

  • YUUUSSSS!!!!!! THANK YOUUUU!!!!!! :D

  • Are these settings on a Bamboo? For some reason I don't have the Wacom tablet under system preferences, only Bamboo tablet.

  • @MythicSkater i only have bamboo and its already set up there. just go to gimp and do the thing with the preferences

  • mkay, so i'm pretty sure i've done everything right, but when i went to system preferences, but instead of "Wacom Tablet" it just says "Bamboo," and pretty much everything is the same, sept for the three boxes.... Sooo?

  • When I go on the interface of my driver, it appears to be different from yours. I can't really find the equivalent of the plus sign...

  • Do you know what the numbers next to the pressure thing does?

  • Thanks so much for making this tutorial! I was going crazy looking for pen pressure for this.

  • @blatellidae Glad to help :D

  • what does the part 3 setting to window or screen actually do?

    thanks :)

  • @dasmonkeyman Well, it makes the physical tablet sync up with the active window, or the whole screen respectively. If you have it set to window, the edges of the tablet will go as far as the active window. If set to screen, the edges of the tablet go as far as the whole screen. (:

  • Would this tutorial work for windows xp or windows 7 too?

  • @glaceon101able Eh, I'm not really sure. You still need to download a driver for your platform, but I'm not sure how well my instructions would work.

  • i'm not exacly using a wacoom tablet .. i'm using a Aiptek. And when i'm trying to install it ( with a CD ) it's stops on the instalation ''/ help ? if u can ofc =3

  • @2Katti2 I really don't think I would be able to help. If I find something on Google I'll send it to you, though!

  • @Cyrilshark Oki :3 but thanks anyway =3

  • Thanks alot!

I have newly switched to Mac (I've never used it before) and now my Wacom Bamboo works great!

  • @majslycktan

Very glad it worked, you're welcome! :D

  • gimpknowhow made that background

  • Hi cyril, iz vT! xD good tut. you sound younger than i thought :P

  • @kuckuk2 So glad I could help you! ::D I'll be sure to go to Switzerland! ;)

  • Hi

You saved my day! Thank you very very much, if you ever come to switzerland send me a mail and I will invite you over! Great tutorial!

    Best regards,

    Jonas

  • Mine also changed to Pen Tablet after I got the Bamboo, and as far as I can remember it just worked out of the box.

  • I have a bamboo tablet, and for sure I know I have installed the right driver and everything. When I check system preferences, it doesn't have "Wacom Tablet" but I do have "Pen Tablet"

  • First, make sure you have the right driver (OSX 10.6, 10.5 etc), and the latest version of GIMP.

  • I have a wacom bamboo fun tablet, i've downloaded the latest driver, but it still doesnt work. In system preferences there aren't those three things that say tablet tool and application. And when I'm in Gimp under preferences and click the "configure extended input devices" button, it says there are none. Any suggestions?

  • Thank you SO MUCH! anyone know how to set the pressure sensetivity?

  • Under GIMP click on the brush icon, and in the toolbox click the arrow that says "pressure sensitivity" and voile! ;)

  • Thanks a ton! I have one that shows up as "pen tablet" too. So I just got the latest driver, and went and changed all the options in the GIMP preferences and I was good to go!

  • Glad it worked out :)

  • The tutorial seems really helpful but I get a Pen Tablet image in my System Preferences rather than a Wacom one. And the settings are differen't so Gimp still doesn't seem to pick up my tablet.

Would you know anything about this?

  • @StoopidMuffinMan

Well, I just got a new Wacom Tablet (the Bamboo) and mine now shows up as Pen Tablet too, so now the System preferences layout is different for it. Now I don't need to add what applications i want compatibility with, I just need to make sure I have the right driver, download the latest version of GIMP, then skip to the part where you set the tablet with GIMP. Hope this helps! If not post problems.

  • Hmm... When I try to configure the input devices on GIMP, I only get "pen" and Quartz Pointing Device. I just downloaded GIMP for Mac so I'm pretty sure it's the right one and I know I have the correct driver. I can move the cursor with the tablet freely but it won't let me click on anything on the GIMP windows.

  • Hmm... I can't really help you unless I can see some pictures... :-/ Unless you've fixed it by now? :)

  • thank you :)

  • @Ruth

Awesome man glad I could help! :)

    @Kvik

Basically X11 lets you run a lot of Windows based apps on your Mac if they were made compatible. ;)

  • great tutorial, thanks for it!! Can I ask what is that X11.app for?

  • thanks, this helped much, even my computer is not mac xD

  • Hey,

What Tablet and OS do you have?

  • hai. i got another problem. do you know how to use zoom on your tablet. it seems that i cant use it. and i can see that all of my hot key can not be use. do you know the solution for this.

  • I've got the same problem using a Wacom Bamboo. Find a fix yet? :(

  • Great tutorial! Really is the first ive seen for this, too bad im a XP user.

    :/

(And i see the GimpKnowHow tutorial background aswell)

    ;]

  • THanks man ;)

    And yep thats it :P

  • wow...you really save my day by showing this tutorial.thanks!! now i can utilize the tablet fully on my cintiq.

  • Awesome! Glad it worked out! :)
